2025 Cup of China Pairs SP PBP - Haban-Error

Went and read the rules again to make sure. Sorry not sorry, Sui & Han did an invalid element in the short program and it should have no value.

Group 5 (Lasso) Lifts
In a Lasso, or Group 5 Lift, the Woman rotates around the man/in relation to the man during the lifting process between the take-off and the fully extended position. This rotation must be visible by way of shoulders and or hips. During the lifting process one of the man’s hands must remain clearly above his shoulders. If not, the group is identified as group 4 lift.

Good skate, but something missing from the performance which seemed to lose energy towards the end of the program.

69.18 = 2nd Place

McBark - 3tw - quite nice; SBS 3t - swishy; throw 3lz - nice but small compared to SuiHan; lift - really lovely & beautiful exit; SBS spins - out-of-synch here & there but close together; step seq - decent; BIDS - probably their weakest element.

Well, I expect their score to rise tremendously compared to last week. I'd have them in the 68-69 range, easily.

Wow, the big elements were on fire today. Only weak spot were the sbs spins. Great for Macbeath and Parkman, especially competing two weeks in a row and having to travel to China.

They move so differently though. It's really distracting to me when they're not performing elements. The unison of style just isn't there yet.

"The Olympic Champions leading" is ridiculous. But we ARE watching figure skating with figure skating judges .... lest we forget.

Okay, Katie & Daniil, understand that your mission, once you get home from this GP, is to get yourselves to the Orange County Courthouse & get married so that we have at least 2 really good pairs teams for the next Olympic cycle who will have their citizenship sorted out in time for Nice-Alpes Maritimes 2030.

"Karen, the matchmaker" hard at work here. Marry now ... not for love but for the good of the US Olympic spots. I like it.

Is there likely to be a protest brought up though? Or a late revision to the score? Or are you just bringing this up to remind us how skating isn't always on the up and up?
I'm sure he's texting someone he knows who knows someone who is in China right now to get this looked at, though I'm not it will be in time to get the referee & tech panel to correct the matter. It should be called out, though, because there is always NHK and the GPF to consider in the next few weeks.

Nice skate, and I think this program has some real promise once they can start skating it full out.

HocKun - 3tw - fine; SBS 3s - looked like his free foot touched down really fast; throw 3f - up and down and landed; lift - this looks like effort which is true for almost every element with this team; BIDS - okay, that's nice; SBS spins - pretty decent; step seq - alright - probably not the element I would have ended the program on, but I'm not their choreographer, so whatever.

A little rough in places, and missing levels on some elements.

GhiAmbro - SBS 2a - did she do a 2a? 3tw - not terrible, but not great; lift - good; throw 3lz - pretty sure her hand swiped the ice on the landing; BIDS - ugly position for her; SBS spins - close together; step sequence - another team ending on this element and it's just sort of meh.

Also, this is another bizarre cover of a well-known piece and I can't get behind them using it - the program just felt sort of off altogether. Katie & Daniil looking good to make the final group for the FS again this week!
