The only person I remember skating to this is Ryan Jahnke.Um, how? Who has done it before? I remember only one program.

Charlene had silver nails!Looks good. I didn't see "nails/ hair match costume" though. Not arguing, just wondering who it was.![]()
… Emanuel Sandhu had part of his free skate to the Diva Dance, which is the iconic song from the soundtrack some 20 years ago.Les Kovs, Team KoKo, and there's at least one or two singles skaters who've done programs to that music in the last couple seasons. It's so freakin' prolific that I recognize it immediately - and I'd never seen/heard of the movie until the first program surfaced in the last Oly season.
How did we get thru an Ice Dance event without someone touching the boards?!?!?!@MacMadame - here's what I have for the Bingo list, do you concur?
arm (hair) ography
“artistic” camerawork
big plushie
coach cam
cutouts
Emo/ Sad Girl Cover
face touching
illusion/ tights weird color
inappropriate smiling
knee slide
lip-synching
Mark audibly crushed
nails/ hair match costume
Obvious Warhorse
only one sleeve/sleeveless
Pink Ladies
Superstar Artist
tights over/boot covers
Tribute program
very literal costume
Yeah, that's my issue. It's not yet in warhorse territory yet IMO.… Emanuel Sandhu had part of his free skate to the Diva Dance, which is the iconic song from the soundtrack some 20 years ago.
But it’s not that overused.
Or molesting the judges. How did we get thru an Ice Dance event without someone touching the boards?!?!?!
As well as crystals on one eyelid and silver eyeshadow sweeping out across the other eyelid/temple.Charlene had silver nails!
I think we react to it because every program that uses it has the woman in some version of the same costume, so it's super recognizable.Yeah, that's my issue. It's not yet in warhorse territory yet IMO.

I think the preposterous marks for C/B are just to hide the absolutely outrageous overscoring of G/P. I find 127 of the Canadians absolutely scandalous.
Me too. I'm thankful that there is no Ice Dance monarchy there, too. The top teams are spread out much more between the different training centers, which makes it more interesting.I enjoyed the juniors here much more.
So, why don't the ice dance aficionados here explain why it wasn't?Fear/Gibson think their score was low. I nearly choked. https://bsky.app/profile/anythinggoe.com/post/3lcqhsbv24k2c
I loved that! And he beat Plushy in the GPF with it… Emanuel Sandhu had part of his free skate to the Diva Dance, which is the iconic song from the soundtrack some 20 years ago.

Exactly!..

The concept is 1930s NYC? Evan DEFINITELY needs to change his costume. Zoot suit, tout suite!Chock has more vision in her pinky than 75% of the field, but it doesn’t excuse the reality that she’s (unsurprisingly, given age and length of career) getting even slower and cautious in some of the steps and edges.
The program is good, the concept maybe even great. 1930s era of The Empire State is conceptually fertile, but they haven’t elevated it up to its potential yet. Wish they leaned more into just like straight Buddy Rich solos vs. club singing and scating to Take Five.
Welcome!Put me in the seemingly rather exclusive group that likes Piper & Paul's FD.
why their score wasn't too low??? I mean it's about where they've been scoring all season. But also if you want to talk about how the composition is an issue, their ice coverage is fairly weak, and how she stumbled her way through the first step seq we canSo, why don't the ice dance aficionados here explain why it wasn't?
Well, Art Deco and jazz continue to be important cornerstones of NY, but I say 20s/30s given the height of the Jazz Age. Could be a 50s business man going out for a night in the cityThe concept is 1930s NYC? Evan DEFINITELY needs to change his costume. Zoot suit, tout suite!
I thought about the crystals. My thought for the category is that it can't be something you can change mid-program. Headbands can be ripped off, for example. And make-up they all do and it almost always matches. Crystals are next level though. As well as crystals on one eyelid and silver eyeshadow sweeping out across the other eyelid/temple.

In the quote linked, it says they thought it looked like their GOE was too low.why their score wasn't too low??? I mean it's about where they've been scoring all season. But also if you want to talk about how the composition is an issue, their ice coverage is fairly weak, and how she stumbled her way through the first step seq we can
However I'd also throw in that other scores were way too high so it's all relative
I just saw they thought the score was too low, but also i don't disagree about Chock/Bates. They should be closer to everyone else. Honestly ice dance overall should be much more competitive than it currently is. There's like 10 teams or so i think could be changing podium places on any given day but it's just not the scoring reality. GOEs are treated like ordinals and don't really indicate what happened on the ice most of the time and it's exhausting but also i guess that's the new vision. In the quote linked, it says they thought it looked like their GOE was too low.
I see a few people raving about Chock/Bates being so good, I was told I need to 'go to a competition' before I can give any opinion about them, I went and saw both of them head to head and I'm absolutely positive that Chock deserves a lesser GOE for the twizzle (because of her clockwise one) and the one-foot step on a good Lilah day. I think the Ch elements go in favor to Lilah and Lewis more often that not, too. In fact, I think Chock looked even worse in person than what comes across on TV.
So I just wondered what was about choking about them feeling that when two other teams got absolutely insane scores for what they put out, even comparatively to the Brits.
