2024 Canadian Spring/Summer/Fall Competitions

I guess no one is skating the senior pair free as the junior men are on the ice now

So can they declare gold and silver medalists based on the pairs' short, or does everyone just go home? (I know they don't, but it would be nice if they did!)

I got called away as Bruce was beginning. Did he stick with regular Moonlight Sonata or turn it into some techno nightmare?

Decent skate from Gogo, 2 clean 4Sals and a 3A combo. Shame about the pop on the 4Loop attempt. Not overly crazy about the musical choice, but at least his head and eyes are up, and he doesn't give you the feeling he'd like to disappear into the ice.

Gogolev's music, btw, is a complete snore. It picks up in the last minute but he needs a lot more energy and attack to make it work.

Wow that was a wonderful performance from Medland-Spence. That opening triple lutz was a thing of beauty. Lovely triple flip too. One of her best skates.

ETA over 113 in the free, 165 something total. Just shy of the 166 benchmark for an international assignment.

Debut of Kaiya's Wonder Woman program! This red dress is pretty. I'd like to see her do her hair up, to match it better.

Okay, the dress makes more sense now (I don't pay a TON of attention to music announcements except my faves and wasn't familiar with the music) but it seems a little too plain for the stronger sections of the music/program in the second half. It could do with some gold detailing, I think.

I was fortunate to watch and was most impressed with the skating overall this early,

the top three women were excellent live, nice speed and all had the full package. Best I have seen Kaiya skate live, so polished and the jumps not as tight except for the toe on the first lutz.

Gogo is a different skater full of confidence and great presence on the ice and I love that he has four quads now. I think he might have a good season.

The Georges-Éthier event is this weekend and junior women are actually skating right now.

Here are the start orders: https://resultats.patinage.qc.ca/resultats-souvenir-georges-ethier-2024/

Here is the schedule: https://patinage.qc.ca/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Horaire-SGE_2024_V3.pdf

I was able to rewind the stream a bit to see next gen member Sandrine Blais who scored 59.98 with a beautiful triple triple toe combo. Pretty sure the score includes 2.00 points in bonus.

So Daleman did not skate today. I didn't watch much of the women's short, only a few programs (I was out and Quebec's dailymotion streams always let you rewind). I watched Miclette, who had a messy triple toe double toe combo and fell on her triple flip. She scored 54.something and looked shocked when the score came up. Landry started so well with a huge double axel and triple lutz, but fell on the triple flip in the second half so no combo. She scored 56.something. Hopefully she will do better in France in a few weeks. Another skater I wanted to watch was Pomerleau who also withdrew.
