When did 8 Rinks change names to ScotiaBarn?!?!?

It's a mystery. 🤷‍♂️

Updated schedule as of June 20: https://www.skatinginbc.com/sites/d...mance/resources/junehp2024compsched062024.pdf

If there are any events you're interested in watching, I would suggest trying to catch them live. The ads on the archived videos are beyond annoying.

I wanted to stay up for Nguyen/Giang but was too sleepy, so I had to catch them this morning. (Program is very raw and unpolished at this point but has some nice energy.) You were right, @shutterbug, that's one horrible ad experience. Even worse than YouTube.

I'm going crazy trying to figure out what that thing in Hannah Li's eye is (novice dance). An eyepatch? If so, it must be really tough to skate with it. ETA: No, I guess not an eyepatch, from closer up in the K&C -- maybe a really really bad bruise?

Nguyen/Giang were flying out there until they had a fall coming out of a lift. Strong skate overall, though; much stronger than their RD. Program is to "Sign of the Times." 80.40 FD, 138.69 overall.

i think that's a birthmark

I am by total chance going to be in Ottawa this weekend to visit family. Will be hard to getaway with events and our schedule, but I would love to see Bombardier/Mimar live if I can sneak away then! Would have been ideal if Dupuis, Miclette and Landry were in the last group of Women's SPs right before the Pairs SP lol. And if the Pairs LP was after the Women's LP lol!

Anyone hoping to attend the event in Ottawa (Orleans) beginning this evening should be aware of a couple of issues -
  • one of the parking lots at the Bob MacQuarrie Complex is under reconstruction, reducing the available parking. If the lot on the west side of the complex is full, I believe it's possible to park on the grounds of the currently closed former car dealership to a bit further to the west (the next complex).
  • there is a LOT of ongoing construction in relation to the LRT with periodic closure of various ramps to get on and off the 174 highway in this part of the city. This link is worth checking, especially with respect to Highway 174 and Jeanne d'Arc Boulevard: https://ottawa.ca/en/parking-roads-...#section-4da6a81c-f715-49c1-a2e5-1aa1b90b3295

I missed the senior RD. Hope the videos are available afterwards.
I have no idea about that :( I was in the arena and also hope to be able to watch the stream to hear the commentary.

I enjoyed the Sr. and Jr. RDs and hope that the team representing the Czech Federation gets JGP assignment! Also enjoyed the Novice and Pre-Novice pattern dances - nice to see some "compulsory" stuff :)

The tickets were $5 per day or $10 for the weekend.

The final group of Jr Women still on the ice - they are running quite a bit behind on the schedule. Waiting for scores of second skater at 12:40

The ice make is on now, hopefully senior women short will start in a few minutes.
Wow - the audio on this feed is really bad, lol.

"Toxic" isn't that great of a song to begin with but it sounds just awful on this stream.

Managed to breakaway for a quick outing to get to the rink just in time for the Pairs SP and Fiona & Benjamin’s debut! Worked out well as I need to run an errand and buy some greeting cards for dinner tonight lol.

Slipchuk was chatting with Dupuis in the stands after the last skater in the Women’s SP. Josee was sitting closeby in eager anticipation for Fiona’s skate I’m sure!

Rough debut for Bombardier/Mimar. 2tw, both fell on the SBS jumps, lift failed on the way up, she two-footed the throw landing.

Not debut that they would have wanted unfortunately for Fiona and Benjamin. The warm up was better but maybe a combination of nerves and still getting accustomed together was a lot to handle. Hopefully they can have a better LP tomorrow!

Hopefully it was worth the effort to stop by! That was....not great. Early days of course so the errors on the elements aren't a huge issue, but I didn't get much of a sense of "pairness" between them, particularly from Fiona. Maybe not a realistic expectation after only 5 -6 months of skating together.
