2024 Canadian Spring/Summer/Fall Competitions

His outfit looks like a male version of Lulu's Rach dress. I think I like it?

Why does he have sparkly blood on his neck? Is this from a new vampire thing the youths like now?

Wasn't his FS last year a vampire program with a sparkly bloody neckline on his costume?

No, I don't think so. He talked about the program last season, something about a representation of unrequited love? Will have to see if I can hunt the article down.

ETA: Here it is: https://www.instagram.com/p/CvUjiiDORaO/
“The inspiration behind this solo is the feeling of trying to fall in love with a certain person, and the fact that you could give them everything, and they still wouldn’t like you back. Every time it happens it’s like a stab in the heart, and that’s why in my costume there are holes filled with blood, to represent the heartbreak.” - Anthony

Yes, it's the same costume as last year.

Side note - Kole Sauve and Annika Behnke are both entered in Jr. singles events, but not in Jr.Pair, which would appear to confirm their split.

I was shocked pleasantly surprised to see how competent Schmitz/Eberl look. With the lack of a height difference, I was expecting some struggles, but it doesn't seem to greatly affect them. Attractive team, got an off-ice couple vibe from them.

Next up for Canadian summer competitions will be the 2024 Championnats québécois d’été from August 8th to 11th in Pierrefonds, QC. https://patinage.qc.ca/championnats-quebecois-dete/

I've been debating if I might go down to watch for a weekend getaway, especially with Maxime & Deanna entered to compete (fingers crossed they don't withdraw!). Being able to work remotely now makes attending competitions like this so much easier.

Turns out I have to be in Ottawa anyway on August 13th for work, so makes total sense to attend and head out that way a few days earlier. Will share some live reports :) Looking forward it!

I thought it was a very respectable debut for S/E! I also think their twist is better together than with either of their previous partners. Interested to see how they develop over the season!

@DE93 has posted on X that there have been a number of withdrawals in Pairs (Jr. & Sr.) and Dance (Jr. & Sr.) at the Quebec Summer Championships:
Jr Pair: Beau Callahan/Christophe Roch & Ava Kemp/Yoni Elizarov
Sr Pair: Emy Carignan/Bryan Pierro & Deanna Stellato/Max Deschamps
Jr Dance: Alyson Lacombe/Morgan Laliberte-Laurent
Sr Dance: Azusa Tanaka/Nishiyama Shingo

I'm sure she wouldn't mind me sharing the info here :)

Ah, I was wondering what was up when I saw Stellato/Deschamps were on the entry list for Souvenir Georges-Éthier. And it's looking like no JGP this year for Kemp/Elizarov as well as Ariano Kent/Laliberte-Laurent. :(

I managed to rewind the stream to catch Fée Ann Landry Who had a decent skate and scored over 56 points. Hand down on the double axel but what looked like a good triple lutz and then triple flip double toe late in the program.

So what a past day and a half. Ontario (especially eastern Ontario) and Quebec got the remnants of Betty but it felt like a lot more than remnants with 50 to 100mm of rain. My drive from the GTA to Montreal was the rainiest, stormiest drive I have ever done in my life. But thankfully I made it okay. I had made plans to take my nephew out for dinner Friday and then to the Montreal airport for his trip to Italy but the storm, combined with rush hour and being a Friday were a perfect storm of disaster. What should be a 30ish mins trip from downtown to the airport took 2.5 hours with us stuck in a 500m stretch for 1.5 hours (and low on gas to add to the stress!).

This delay ended up meaning my schedule was totally off and I missed all of the Pairs I had wanted to see the most (but maybe I feel a bit better knowing there were so many withdrawals so I didn't miss as much lol). I was headed to the rink to watch the Dance event and the rain was at its heaviest, couldn't even see the road so I gave up, exhausted and headed back to the hotel. Good thing too as the hotel soon after along with hundreds of thousands of homes lost power so I went to bed. Power came back overnight thankfully.

Will head later today to watch the Pairs & Dance hopefully!
