2024-25 US Pairs Discussion - Triple-Twisting Through Tornado Alley

Doubles are obviously a problem, but M/B looked much more polished than I remember them being last season! Also, definitely good for them to beat W/L in the SP here.

F/W clearly have a lot of work to do before the JGP -- it looked like they weren't used to the new program. Worth remembering that their Glacier SP was also pretty rough last year.

Yeah, that's a rough score for MarBed.

Solid score for MossGal - they'll be competitive on the JGP.

FlorWang - good bounce back - they're going to be leading contenders for gold at the JGPF and Jr Worlds.

Nobody rooting for shin/nagy for SkAM? I know it's early but..... you never know

I actually do want mcbeath/parkman on that spot as this team gives me stellato/deschamps vibes

I'm rooting for shin/nagy but also accept they are brand new lol so I don't have a problem with a stronger pair getting it
I'm rooting for one of Shin/Nagy, Fredette/Siianytsia or McBeath/Parkman but I feel like McBPark have the advantage since they have a season already behind them and would have surely finished on the podium at Nats if not for Katie's broken blade.

Flores/Wang's SP & FS from Glacier Falls have been uploaded to a YT fan account -

SP - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7DpsCTDHFA
FS - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=btkBRdHuiiw

ETA - SP is nice - I don't mind the modern pop ballad for them. The FS is going to be fantastic by the end of the season after it gets some mileage on it. It already has some really nice choreographic moments - the pairs spin is really well-timed with the music.

Also - Flores/Wang and Moss/Galbavy have been assigned to JGP Latvia. Carpenter/Maravilla are the only substitute (which makes sense as they're the only other junior team on the ISP). I do sort of wish that Williams/Lewer had decided to go back on the JGP again this season - especially seeing as their Glacier Falls senior debut wasn't particularly fabulous.

Aaron Felberbaum is also on Ice Partner Search. I thought he and Addyson paired up.

Seems like that Instagram post has bad ju-ju that all new partnerships featured in that photo imploded before the season could even begin

Yeah, Baylen was partnered with Jared McPike briefly but it seems it didn't stick.

Aaron was partnered with Addyson McDanold and I'm a bit surprised they split since there was a post on her IG from Skate Milwaukee and I thought he was in one of the pics with her. She skated in the Novice Women SP but WD from the FS.
I think this is an old listing for Felberbaum. IPS says his profile was last updated 04/01/24 and, as of today, he is definitely still skating with Addyson per her IG.

Elizabeth Hansen and William Church have been added to ISP list. 🎉
Very recently, I guess? I noticed today for the first time.

Definitely recently as they weren't there yesterday, lol.

Fitzpatrick/Bearinger have also been added.
Cool!

Hansen/Church must have submitted a video for ISP consideration as I don't think they've competed anywhere, whether NQS or not.

Fitzpatrick/Bearinger competed in Skate Detroit though scores were not quite high. But good for them!

So that minimum technical score to be added to ISP is not true?
I have no reason to think the minimum technical score that was sent to me is inaccurate.

It could be that the USFS added both teams to the ISP in order to allow them to be entered in the upcoming John Nicks IPC. Entries are due next Friday.

I mean the minimum usually IS or it ISN'T. There is usually no workarounds but then again this is USFSA......

I'm really glad they were added however ☺️

I volunteered at the Scott Hamilton Invitational this weekend. It is NQS this year. Cayla Smith won Novice Women. I have known her coach, Alena Lunin, for several years. I asked them if Cayla was still looking for a Pairs partner. They both smiled and said that she now has a partner. No name was given but he came from singles and is new to Pairs. Cayla will continue to compete Novice Women while her partner learns Pair moves. They are training in Fort Worth with Lunin.

Excellent news!!!!!! Hopefully her new partner is a keeper and we'll see them competing next year.
