Considering that in previous years there are teams that didn't get to go to Nationals by one placement or also technical minimum like Mcisaac/Sadusky, I fully agree with you.I hope USFS follow their rules. If they want to create discretionary byes or medical byes or fill-up rules, then craft those rules and get them approved. Transparency and procedural fairness is the way to go.
Audrey and Balazs are still listed in the ISU entries for Warsaw Cup but I just noticed that they are listed as WD as of 11/15 on USFS' International Assignments page that was last updated yesterday. I hope they can still make it to Golden Spin - Chan/Howe, Martins/Bedard & Shin/Nagy are listed there: https://usfigureskatingfanzone.com/...25-international-assignments-and-results.aspxShin/Nagy and Martins/Bedard are assigned to CS Warsaw Cup (Nov. 20-24)
But not Senior?Cross-posting both in here and in the U.S. Ice Dance news thread from the U.S. Sectionals thread in Kiss & Cry:
USFS can "go against their rulebook" by having the Board of Directors "vote to rescind the exceptions to rule 2502 & 2503 previously approved in July 2024 regarding Junior Pairs and Junior Ice Dance at the U.S. Championships. As a result, the 2025 U.S. Championships will return to the original numbers, with the top 12 Junior Pair teams from the US Pairs Final and the top 12 Junior Ice Dance teams from the US Ice Dance Final qualify. All previous advancement information pertaining to Junior Pairs and Junior Ice Dance published in the NQS handbook and November Finals pre-information is void."
(excerpt from an email sent to all Sectional competitors & coaches that was shared with me)
Therefore, all 11 of the Junior teams competing today & tomorrow at the U.S. Ice Dance Final at Midwesterns in Plano, as well as all 9 of the Junior pairs that competed last week in the U.S. Pairs Final at Easterns in Norwood, will advance to 2025 Nationals!
So the minimum was BS?USFS made the 2025 Nationals entries official in their press release today:

Not sure, but I think my theory on the TES mins is more likely - that the USFS decided to make it a combined SP+FS TES min instead as the ISU is now doing rather than separate SP & FS TES mins.So the minimum was BS?
My thoughts are that Sappenfield still has a pull with USFSA.
Cooke/Kennedy DID achieve the TES min they needed for the FS. Hanns/Neudecker did not get the SP min, but it occurred to me that the USFS may overlook this and still grant them a bye to Nats. How/why?
The ISU has changed this summer to the Combined TES min requirement, a change that was made after the USFS Governing Council. It may be that the USFS grants a special exception to Hanns/Neudecker this season because if they combined the TES SP & FS TES mins - 25+42 = 67, then Hanns/Neudecker would have exceeded that (23.08+45.61 = 68.69).

I just answered your question in the US Women's thread - the Selection document states that the 2nd GP/JGP and 2nd CS/Sr B/Jr Int'l column score is multiplied by .8 if the skater/team in question only has 1 event that fits that category.Karen, can you explain where the CS/Sr B scores are coming from? I am not seeing the score 2 for Shin/Nagy, McBeath/Parkman and Martins/Bedard anywhere on their skatingscores list of scores.
ShiNagy are decent but they're nowhere near competitive with KamOSh, EfiMit or ChanHowe. They lack a 3tw and their throws aren't very big. I haven't uploaded the FS from Golden Spin for the top 3 teams, but both ChanHowe and ShiNagy were messy. Here are my comments from the FS I made in the Golden Spin thread in KnC -To recollect a bit, before the Grand Prix season some posters were saying that Chan/Howe might be the leaders going into Nationals, with the proviso that they're healthy. Okay The Grand Prix is done and Chan/Howe have been very inconsistent and they've still had ongoing health issues. I think with the progress Kam/O'Shea have shown, that Ellie and Danny are the top American team and favored to win Nationals again. But I have no idea what teams may make the podium, E/M are solid, but Audrey Shin & Balasz Nagy are improving quickly and McBeath/Parkman have a shot too.
But this is American pairs so anything can happen. Any thoughts or predictions anyone?
ShiNagy - oooo, pretty costumes. Music is "River Flows in You" - 2tw fine; SBS solo - okay; combo - first two jumps were solid but he only did a waltz jump for the 3rd in the seq; missed whether the 1st throw was a double or triple; second throw was a triple but small. Lifts are quite good for such a new team. This should easily keep them in the bronze medal position.
ETA - 111.99 FS; 170.21 total - 1st.
note - the first throw was indeed a triple
ChanHowe - SBS combo - she botched the 1st jump & didn't attempt the rest while he did - mess; and the solo SBS - I think he doubled... good 3tw to get back on track but then he was WILD with the release on the throw and she had no chance of landing it. Utter mess. They better get their shizzit together or they'll wind up behind ShiNagy. Hand down on the 2nd throw. Lifts are good. No idea where this will score. So much for the good progress they showed in the SP.
I know they plan on keeping this program for next season, but someone really needs to advise them to reconsider that plan. This program is just generic and bland.
ETA - this review is taking forever...
112.57 FS - 177.70 2nd overall. At least they didn't lose the FS to ShiNagy.
predictions anyone?
I really think Efi/Mit have the momentum now and better programs but Efi has struggled all her career with jumps. If E/F and C/H are very close at Nationals I wonder if the pair placing second would automatically go to Worlds.ShiNagy are decent but they're nowhere near competitive with KamOSh, EfiMit or ChanHowe. They lack a 3tw and their throws aren't very big. I haven't uploaded the FS from Golden Spin for the top 3 teams, but both ChanHowe and ShiNagy were messy. Here are my comments from the FS I made in the Golden Spin thread in KnC -
Make no mistake, ChanHowe were a hot effing mess in the FS and they STILL beat ShiNagy, which should tell you all you need to know about where they stack up, relatively speaking. I meant to post the links to their SPs earlier but forgot. Here they are -
Shin/Nagy - Golden Spin 2024 SP
Audrey Shin/Balasz Nagy USA - Golden Spin of Zagreb 2024 Pairs Short Programrumble.comChan/Howe - Golden Spin 2024 SP
Emily Chan/Spencer Akira Howe USA - Golden Spin of Zagreb 2024 Pairs Short Programrumble.com
ChanHowe's elements are MUCH stronger than ShiNagy - even with Emily falling on the SBS 3T in the SP, they're light years ahead of ShiNagy. Right now, US sr pairs break out into the following tiers -
Tier 1 - KamOSh, ChanHowe, EfiMit - slight edge to KamOSh who have demonstrated far more consistency this season than in the past - they're a lock for the Worlds team; race is for the 2nd spot between ChanHowe & EfiMit - it will come down to how both skate at Nats.
Tier 2 - McBPark, ShiNagy - both teams still have work to do, but, sure, one of them will make the podium, as pewter medalists.
Tier 3 - DigSad, WilLew, KoryChap, MarBed - I'd be surprised if any of these teams made the Top 5 at Nats
Tier 4 - FitzBear, HanNeu, CooKen - one of these teams will get lucky and call themselves Top 10 at 2025 US Nats.
Yes, whomever places 2nd at Nats will get the spot. Alisa & Emily both have the same problem - struggles with their jumps. ChanHowe's SP score from Golden Spin is about .24 higher than EfiMit's SB, which they earned at Nebelhorn. Emily fell on the 3T this weekend, at Nebelhorn, Alisa put her hand down and half-tumbled out of the landing (from my real time pbp remarks in the KnC discussion). EfiMit have had two good FS this season - John Nicks & SkAm - in the 125-128 range, but they also had two poor ones with an average of 111. ChanHowe haven't put together a really decent FS yet this season - average for them is 115 (excluding Shanghai Trophy where they were really not at all ready for competition). It really will come down to who skates better in Wichita.I really think Efi/Mit have the momentum now and better programs but Efi has struggled all her career with jumps. If E/F and C/H are very close at Nationals I wonder if the pair placing second would automatically go to Worlds.
