No one was in the K&C with Emily and Spencer. Was there a coach with Emily & Spencer in Shanghai? I don't recall. Letov was with von Felten at her JGP and Ganicheva may be busy with the final NQS going on now in Norwood/Boston.
And those who lack one or both tech minimums for 2025 Nats (SP 25.00 and FS 42.00) will need to achieve them at NQS Boston or U.S. Pairs Final. As of now (AFAIK):
Fitzpatrick/Bearinger and Hanns/Neudecker have achieved FS minimum, but not SP minimum (although both pairs have come very close to it).
Martins/Bedard and Cooke/Kennedy have not achieved either minimum.
Shin/Nagy and Fredette/Siianytsia have not competed yet in NQS, and have not had a chance to achieve minimums.

We are extremely saddened to announce that we have made the tough decision to withdraw from the Grand Prix series, NHK and Cup of China. Due to an ongoing injury, we must focus on a full recovery this season. We have been working hard in every way imaginable and have had a wonderful team behind us during this time.
We hope to comeback stronger and be able to represent Team USA at our best and healthiest time. Thank you for your support, kindness, and understanding.
We appreciate all the kind words and wishes from everyone it’s a devastating situation but are hopeful and continue to plan towards the bigger picture. We can’t wait for the time when we can get back to training.
Wishing all our competitors a fantastic GP season

That gives us SIX teams with the Jr Worlds CTES mins! Nationals is going to be a really tight battle for the three Jr Worlds spots - and no need to send any other team out to earn the mins right now.Belated shout out to the 4 pairs that competed at Tayside Trophy in Dundee, Scotland last weekend:
Naomi Williams/Lachlan Lewer came back from 6th in SP to win their first senior international medal (bronze).
Saya Carpenter/Jon Maravilla won Junior gold and Addyson McDanold and Aaron Felberbaum won silver and got their TES minimum for Junior Worlds (Williams/Lewer can be seen standing on the podium in the back in the 2nd pic & the 3rd pic shows the Junior Pairs podium):
Reagan Moss/Jakub Galbavy were 4th.Addyson and Aaron on Instagram: "Tayside Trophy!! We are so thankful for the opportunity to compete in Dundee, Scotland on the 12th and 13th. We had a new personal best in our short and had the honor to represent Team USA again. Thank you so much to

They mentioned last spring that they'd like to go to Jr Worlds again - they need to produce better results at the senior level to demonstrate they should get a spot over one of the other four teams who are only junior age-eligible.Naomi and Lachlan seems to be planning to get a spot in the Junior Worlds team

They also strongly hinted that they have a new short program, different from the one they did at the John Nicks competition.
Just beat me to posting this.Max Fernandez confirmed at the beginning of the Anything GOEs Livestream just now that he had a procedure (not surgery) done right after Worlds for the tendinitis in his left knee and that they will be out for the 2024-25 season. He leaves tomorrow to have surgery on his knee - to repair a tear in the tendon at the bottom of his kneecap (it's separating from the tendon) and it hurts whenever he does a Salchow or toe loop (he's been dealing with this for the past 2 years). "Better now than next season" said Val. They are hopeful Max -- and the team -- will come back stronger next season.
It marked the first time that two U.S. pairs teams finished on the podium at a fully international Skate America since 2006. [...]
Kam and O’Shea delivered their best outing yet with a sensitive and lyrical performance to Florence & the Machine’s rendition of “Stand by Me.” Marked by difficult transitions into and out of elements, the program built to a dramatic finale with three superb lifts, all executed in the final third of the routine.
The 2024 Four Continents bronze medalists garnered personal best free skate and overall scores of 131.07 and 201.73 points, respectively, to clinch their first Grand Prix medal.
“Our lifts are a strong point in our skating, so we always want to end our program on a high note and leave the crowd wanting more,” Kam said. “Putting our lifts at the end is a strategic decision so that we can always leave our best foot out on the ice and showcase what we are good at.”
The Colorado Springs, Colorado-based duo began their partnership in June 2023 and have gelled quickly. Their free skate marked the first time that the veteran O’Shea has earned 200 points in his career.
“I’m pleased with their progress and also optimistic about where they can go,” coach Drew Meekins said. “They worked hard in the offseason on a lot of things, of course, solidifying their technical elements. But also, they wanted programs this season that were challenging, that pushed them. People are always saying nice things about their choreography, but we wanted to take it to another level, so we really pushed the envelope there. It’s nice to see them get rewarded.”
Skating to the romantic “Je Suis Malade” performed by Forestella, choreographed by five-time U.S. ice dance champion Renee Roca, Efimova and Mitrofanov nailed their triple throws and side-by-side triple Salchow-double Axel combination to secure a personal best 128.46 points. Her impeccable positions, supported by his strength and technique, made for superior pair elements. They finished with an overall score of 191.51, also a personal best.
For Efimova and Mitrofanov, who are only in the second season of their partnership, the medal is also their first Grand Prix podium finish as a team.
“We were in a good state of being connected in the program, so we went for each element, and it was all along quite comfortable to skate here,” Efimova said.
Katie McBeath and Daniil Parkman chalked up their first Grand Prix Series event to experience, finishing with a free skate score of 111.39 and an overall total of 168.08.
The team began skating together in May 2023.
“I think it was a great learning tool that will carry us forward,” McBeath said. “… We showed some improvements, and I liked our connection.”
McBeath and Parkman train in Irvine, California, under USOPC Coach of the Year Jenni Meno Sand.
“They have been running clean programs at home,” Meno Sand said. “This is their first big competition together, and I think it's good for them to see how performing that free skate feels — each time they do it, I think it gets better.”
Spencer Howe: "The summer was continuing that road to recovery [from shoulder surgery]. I'm happy to say that it went really well. My shoulder is much better, stronger than ever. I had to undergo a lot of physical therapy."
Chan/Howe considered re-using last year's programs, as they only competed twice last season. "I wanted to keep them, mostly the [Elvis] short, but our coaches, especially Olga [Ganicheva], wanted us to have a fresh start," said Howe. They choreographed new programs with Ganicheva
Chan: "Last year, we had to modify most of our programs because of his shoulder. We wanted to have something that was suitable for us at our current time."
Howe on training with Alisa Efimova/Misha Mitrofanov: "It's a huge blessing for us. We like them both as people, they're really great. To see them already doing so well, it's super-inspiring for us." He added that skating together helps both teams improve.
Howe on doing shows in Japan this summer: "We're super-grateful to be able to go to Japan; we love it there. It was really beneficial for us to get out there early on" and get audience feedback on their skating.

“In pairs, I think to really give a real, true performance, you have to feel like equals,” Meekins said. “I think that part took a little bit longer. ... I think it took (Kam) a bit to really feel like she could offer the team as much as he could. And now that I think she feels that way, that they feel like they’re true partners, you really are starting to see them perform to their potential.”
Jared posted about their partnership yesterday - in M&M [Meekins & Mishkutenok] Pairs group:And a new Jr Pairs team - Milada Kovar/Jared McPike!
We are so grateful to be invited to compete at NHK Trophy next week! Although it’s last minute, we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been working on
see you soon Tokyo!!
I just realized you left out Sadusky/Digerness, & Fitzpatrick/Bearinger and now they will get a travel bye due to IceChallenge.Digerness/Sadusky & Fitzpatrick/Bearinger have been assigned to IceChallenge.
ETA - this is within the 10 day travel window that typically qualifies a team for a bye to Nationals - do we know if this means they'll get a travel bye?
Teams with byes to Nats are currently:
2024 Nats Top 5 - Kam/O'Shea, Efimova/Mitrofanov, McBeath/Parkman
JGPF Qualifier - Flores/Wang
Travel Bye (competing at Finlandia the same week as the Pairs Final) - Chan/Howe, Williams/Lewer
Other teams expected to compete at the Pairs Final:
Cooke/Kennedy
Fredette/Siianytsia
Hanns/Neudecker
Korytek/Chapman (age-ineligible for int'l competition)
Martins/Bedard (injured?)
Shin/Nagy
4 pairs?Looks like not many pairs will be at the Pairs Final..30min. Short program and 40min FS event on the schedule.
Alisa Efimova / Misha Mitrofanov 64.08 [0.3 behind Pereira/Michaud in 3rd]
Alisa: “We feel really good and really happy. It was a long day and I was really, really nervous, out of nowhere, more than usually. I am happy that we managed our nerves.”
Misha: “It was a tough fight and we are happy we stayed on our feet. Skating here felt great, we knew we would have France right after Skate America, so we feel well prepared. It was really nice to skate here, the crowd is very warm and welcoming.”
We asked them if they found new confidence in their side by side jumps and they agreed on that!
Shin/Nagy and Martins/Bedard are assigned to CS Warsaw Cup (Nov. 20-24) which gets them out of the U.S. Pairs Final (Senior Pairs compete Nov. 14-15).
