2024-25 Program Music and Choreographers

Yes, but the twist is going to be the ISU assigns the waltz rhythm you've been longing for the RD. :p
Fear/Gibson did a waltz for one of their exhibition programs a couple of years ago. Obviously hard to say how they'd go with competition elements but I thought they handled it just fine in the exhibition, so I don't think it's out of their wheelhouse if the time comes for a waltz (and I am still living in hope of that).

And USFS approved that at Champs Camp? 🤨

If she confirmed it, I suppose they must have.
Interesting. The audio quality of the recording she was using wasn't very good during the show. Additionally, the exhibition program certainly isn't long enough for a FS. I didn't think the program was terrible but I'm thinking that there has to be more to her FS than what we saw in the Summer Sizzler program.

Right now, it's mostly stroking and 2-footed skating with armography. I wondered if it was her SP due to the length. But it needs a lot more work if she's intending to challenge for medals. While the music choice isn't out of line with what other skaters are choosing, there are some pitfalls to choosing music that is more suited to an exhibition (see Loena's FS from last season).

MacArthur Park is one of my all-time favorite songs and I have no doubt Liu will do it better justice than one Claudia Leistner did in the 80s. At least I think it was her using some muzak-esque version.

I know I’m setting myself up to get flamed with a bunch of ‘give her time!’ responses, but I was very very critical of how she escaped a lot of jump rotation calls in 2022 and the clip I saw, to me, shows more of the same. I don’t think the program shown at Sizzler was anything near what we will see in competition.

🎶 Someone left her jumps out in the rain
Tony don't think she can fake it
With some grandpa juice she'd make it
Or she'll never get those PCS again....🎶

:p

oh she 100% is going to get rotation calls based on everything we've seen but she'll potentially be more fun to watch while getting those calls

I'm so glad someone is Rick Rolling us since all of ice dance disappointed me last season.

I know it's not technically a Rick Roll since we know he's skating to it but it's as good as we're going to get apparently.

Why? It's announced upthread that "MacArthur Park" is her FS music. People have made plenty of commentary on music other skaters have chosen in this thread.
People are moving on beyond the music and are starting to nitpick her jump tech and how she's going to be scored - not just the music. JMO. Carry on as you will. ;)

Agree. I look forward to seeing this program, and hope it includes an incredibly bad dance break in the middle.

Interesting RD choice for GilPoir - I'm satisfied that it's not disco.

LajLag - Austin Powers soundtrack could be okay, or terrible. Same with their FD choice. But both are probably better than what we've seen from FearGib, so it's going to be interesting to see if they can beat them at any point this season.

Thumbs up to Piper and Paul. Thumbs down to Lala.
I guess thumbs up or down for Lajoie/Lagha depends on which version of Sound of Silence it is. I actually like the Disturbed version, but it has already been used too much.

Also, if someone doesn't like covers, then I must note that the Annie Lenox A Whiter Shade of Pale version is also a cover (the original is Procol Harum).

It's the Disturbed version.

I've heard enough Sounds of Silence by anyone to last me the rest of my life.

Mostly though I'm reacting to the Austin Powers choice about how I reacted to the choice of Michael Jackson last year but I lived with it.

I like the Beach Boys choice for Piper and Paul, but probably only because its Piper and Paul.

I concur P/G's 60s "beach" dance bops will be a reprieve from disco. Will be interested to see how they costume that choice though. I love Annie Lennox's voice, but I don't see "Whiter Shade of Pale" as any kind of stretch for them.

Grumpy Cat as Austin Powers intrigues me for LaLa. I don't mind "Sound of Silence" but I don't find it an inspired musical choice.
