2023-24 U.S. Figure Skating Broadcast Schedule on NBC & Peacock

I spoke to him and he's not sure why he was dropped from the feed for the mens LP. I don't think it was really planned to have him on US streaming coverage, but clearly there was no rhyme or reason in their setup.
Weird. Well, if you talk to him again, please tell him that some of us Americans really liked his commentary and hope to hear him again.

I even enjoyed his commentary of the Men’s finals by reading his close-captioned comments. Even though we couldn’t hear him, his comments could be read.

Non skating friends were looking for NBC, E!, nbc coverage of Skate Canada. I couldn't find it for them.

Was it only on Peacock?

NBC has a recap show for Skate Canada scheduled on November 4. The entire competition and gala were shown on Peacock.

Sadly, it looks like NBC is doing the same thing for the remaining GPs...only offering a recap after the event ends. The GP Final is scheduled to air on E!

See post 1 in this thread for the entire schedule.

My first time hearing Mark Hanretty. I must confess that when I joined pairs at Skate Canada, my first thought was there was a Japanese commentator. It took me a minute to get through the accent. He is full of good information but I do have to listen carefully.

Senior Women's FS will livestream on Peacock from 11:50 AM to 2:40 PM Eastern time.
Final group skating order (vying for the guaranteed 2 spots to Nationals today with 3 more TBD after the 3rd & final Sectional, Midwestern, finishes on Nov. 19):

Sorry for the dumb question (or if it’s been asked/discussed before), but I am watching the NBC coverage of Grand Prix France, and I am assuming Tara and Johnny were commentating while watching a feed of it while in the US somewhere? I wouldn’t think Tara would want to travel away from the baby so soon.

They haven't traveled internationally for Grand Prix events or even major internationals aside from Worlds for many years now. Actually, I don't think Tara and Johnny ever have since they took over the main commentary roles. Even in the days when the Grand Prix transitioned from ABC to ESPN coverage, they would usually commentate remotely.

Still working overseas and wondering if USFS sectionals (& couples nationals) will be replayable in December? I can see the GP series via YouTube’s ISU channel but not the USFS events.

@Frau Muller, I did find this schedule for Figure Skating on TV and livestreaming at NBC Sports. At the moment, the schedule only shows the Grand Prix schedule. This schedule also includes the times of each discipline from all the Grand Prix events. They will continue to add to the schedule the European and US Championships in January, the Four Continents in February and the Worlds Championships in March. I don't know regarding the USFS sectionals including couples nationals that it will be replayed in December, however.

I guess we can keep a check on it as NBC Sports adds future broadcasting of the events to the schedule and also the US Figure Skating schedule that @Sylvia added from the US Figure Skating Fan Zone.

According to NBC Sports, Peacock will livestream coverage. Also, all the NBC, USA and E! Coverage can be seen on NBC Sports.com live and the NBC Sports app if you subscribe to those channels.

Has that happened before? I don't remember it happening and I am extremely doubtful that it would due to the same issues that has Peacock not keeping anything up past a few days. If it has happened before, that's great.

TODAY Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023 - Cup of China Encore Highlights Presented This Sunday, Nov. 12, on NBC at 3 p.m. ET."
An encore highlights presentation of 2023 Grand Prix China will air on NBC on Sunday, Nov. 12, at 3 p.m. ET. Bill Spaulding will call the event alongside 1998 Nagano Olympic gold medalist Tara Lipinski and three-time U.S. champion Johnny Weir.

FWIW, the Eastern Sectional Singles Final Senior/Junior & below event videos from last week are available in USFS' Fan Zone platform to watch BUT there is NO AUDIO (I first noticed this happening with 2023 Nationals event videos there): https://usfigureskatingfanzone.com/watch/
Thanks. I know that I’m pressing the time limits due to my assignment ending in mid-Dec. Just wondering, as USFS is not the ISU, so the music rules may be different.

It wasn’t an issue before, as I was always home in years past, watching on Peacock. I don’t get Peacock in Egypt…but I get the ISU channel on YouTube, so I can watch the GP events, including the finals in December. No access to USFS events.

I was looking at something else and it sounds like they do put some performances up in the Fan Zone. Not sure which ones. Maybe @Sylvia knows.

I'm watching the CoC highlights on NBC, and the picture looks a bit fuzzy. Anyone else seeing that, or is it just a problem on my end?

Extremely. Several of the cameras look unfocused but the one to the right corner seems like it’s the only one that’s okay. I feel like I’m watching skating in 1999.

I also noticed that, too, on NBC. Not sure what the problem is. I just know it usually doesn't look like that.

Also, I can't remember which medal ceremony it was yesterday on Peacock, but there was no sound at all. It's like they turned off the mics.

Just editing to add that the commercials on NBC look very clear and vivid. So either the cameras aren't focused or it's poor reception for the Cup of China recap.

Are the earlier GPs no longer available to watch on Peacock or am I looking in the wrong place?

I'm really enjoying the broadcaster Mark and I'm grateful we get to have him on Peacock now - he is insightful, knowledgeable, and respectful.

Does anyone know if Mark travels to the Grand Prix events? In Grand Prix China, it sounded like he was in the arena, as he was reporting on stuffed animals hitting the judges, talked about the distance between the official hotel and the arena, and commenting on the city. But in Grand Prix Espoo, it does not seem like he is there as he said things like the arena looks like it is cold, indicating he is not there himself??

He doesn't travel to the events; he's at home commentating remotely. He was reporting on the stuffed animals hitting the judges because he was seeing it on his screen, just as we did ;)

Sadly they only leave them up for 48 hours. :(
I think this is new in the GP Espoo Team USA preview article in the Fan Zone:

"Fans can watch Team USA live on Peacock Premium. A recap show of Grand Prix Espoo will air on NBC on Nov. 19. In addition, figure skating events can be accessed on Peacock for 72 hours following their conclusion."

Since NBC is showing several of the women, not just Americans and medalists, I think they were crazy not to show Lara's Hitchcock program.

They have not traveled to a lot of these events in years. They just do them from a studio in New York.

So, I finally gave in and gave up my NBC Peacock virginity. I don't see the Grand Prix Final listed among the upcoming live events -- and I signed up specifically to catch the pairs event, which I know will be chacked since no US teams qualified. Any advice for this novice??
