Contra the above, per the new national team stats both F-B/S and L/L have new free dances for the year.

Laurence & Nikolaj are skating to some edit of this, which...we'll see, I guess.

Marjorie & Zach are skating to the soundtrack to Rio (presumably meaning this film). That made me picture Zach dressed like a macaw, and now I will be deeply disappointed if that doesn't happen.
I think its clearly a track from the Rio Album Duran Duran the bio does not say its a soundtrack I doubt they would be skating from that kids soundtrack makes no sense.

Typically they'd either name the songs or just say "Duran Duran medley" if that was what they meant. The entries are:

Music from Westside[sic] Story
Music from Rio

That's fairly suggestive that the latter is a piece of media akin to the former.

I'm all for Duran Duran if that's what they're doing, but I wouldn't say that's the most logical interpretation. Though I guess we'll potentially have clarification on September 11.

I just listened to parts of the soundtrack on Spotify and it sounds like normal Brazilian-style samba/dance music, I don’t hear anything really juvenile about it, so I think it would be OK.

Maybe they didn`t want to reveal it before the show I went through the kid animated soundtrack I don`t see how you can make a free dance out of this , Zach said in April they had a track figured out I assume its from an album.

The way teams keep trying to copy P&C reminds me of how other other actresses kept trying to copy Audrey Hepburn's Roman Holiday haircut in the '40s. The original looks great; the copies, not so much.

FYI, Roman Holiday is from 1953. There's no 40s about it.

I'd hold off calling it a P/C copy. If anything it has more of a Beyoncé Lemonade vibe to the music intertwined with poetry and the choreography in the video.

I think it's very much in line with their style and upon hearing the music my mind immediately went to their Women and Spanish Caravan FD´s imagining it might be a mesh of those two in style. Laurence is very musical and expressive and this piece is totally in her wheelhouse. I suspect the choreography will focus on her sensuality and she is in her own class when it comes to that.

Message from Paul Ayer re. not skating in #IAMLIVE on Friday with Alicia Fabbri: https://www.instagram.com/p/CE7uI_hMZ2s/
Unfortunately we’ve decided not to perform this week because of my shoulder surgery I received in February. Recovery is going really well but not quite back to normal just yet. Nonetheless, we are very much training and developing our 2 new programs and are extremely excited to show them off the next chance we get!

I.A.M. livestream:

  • no Emmy & Aissa, too bad;
  • Hannah & Ye's new Cats FD looks cute and they're certainly into it;
  • Laurence & Nikolaj did most of their Bonnie & Clyde RD (save the pattern), and looked solid. Nik said his leg still isn't 100%, but things are going well. With both them and Marjorie & Zach I was hoping to see the new free programs, but based on what we saw from a lot of the teams that were debuting newer programs, they're probably not finished yet;
  • Marjorie & Zach, per Marie-France, spent the summer working on lifts, and debuted a new one for the RD to replace their longstanding "Marjorie clings to Zach like a koala bear" lift. It looked nice.

My other takeaway is that getting new programs on this season's belated/rushed pace has indeed put the teams doing it on a bit of a back foot. At least in whatever fall competitions end up happening, I think the teams that just kept their programs are going to be somewhat advantaged.

Unfortunately, we won't get to see Lajoie/Lagha's "Rio" at SCI now, but I noticed their updated ISU bio lists their FD music (4 pieces): http://www.isuresults.com/bios/isufs00035196.htm
Real in Rio / Locked Up / Chained Chase / Bird Chaise (typo for "Bird Fight" perhaps?) from "Rio" soundtrack by John Powell

Speaking of Sales/Wamsteeker, they skated their last season's programs at the BC Autumn Leaves competition this past Thursday and Friday (no scores were published online for the ice dance teams).

New VIDA Novice team of Chloe Nguyen/Alec Roueche (Pattern Dances), Hailey Yu/Brendan Giang's debut of Junior RD to a Wizard of Oz medley, Sales/Wamsteeker's reprise of their ABBA RD: https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7wuiky
Hailey Yu/Brendan Giang (4th in Novice Dance/Team NextGen) - new(?) Junior FD to Jackson 5's "I'll Be There" & "I Want You Back" (with nice expression!)
I think this was their [Yu/Giang's FD] music from last year in novice, so perhaps an adapted program with necessary changes for junior.
Free Dances - Nguyen/Roueche (sounded like The Turtles' "Happy Together" by The Piano Guys), Yu/Giang (Jackson 5 medley at 11:30 in new costumes), Sales/Wamsteeker's Samson and Delilah (at 17:30): https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x7wva9x

I'm so frustrated not to be able to see how S/F are doing under their new team. I wish Carol Lane would do a showcase like Gadbois did, even though she has a lot fewer teams.
She normally does a Nationals Send Off Gala in early January, so I would not be surprised to see an online version of that this season.
