So the 12 pairs for Nationals would be T/M, Z/E, B/K, P/K, M/G, E/K and Stolbova/Novoselov from GP and P/Rylov, A/Nazarychev, A/Kolesov, M/Mironov, and P/Pleshkov from JGP? And the rest of these pairs are competing for alternate spots in case Z/E doesn't recover or M/Mironov doesn't skate senior, etc....well OK. Just had to type that out to make sense of it in my head. :)
Unfortunately there are pairs who won their Russian cup events and would deserve to get their spot. We can hope that the federation opens 16 spots instead of 12, but it has been 12 for quite a few years.

it is sad that some of those who qualified to senior nationals through getting into JGPF may be actually weaker than those who would qualify through Russian cups, e.g. Pepeleva/Pleshkov is definitely weaker than Balabanova/Sviatchenko. But because there is so few spots, some of the deserving pairs won’t get in.

I thought Kostiukovich/Yalin looked pretty good in the program of theirs I saw (the long I believe) for everything they appear to have been going through. Russian pairs is strong right now but I think they have something unique and I really hope they can get through these tough times!

There were times when you were longer persistent! :drama:
Oh, I'm not giving up on her. I know there's a curse breaker out there some where. It's just you don't have a lot of time in Russia to find one. Another team is waiting to push you out the rink door.

It's official, no Perkova :(

Mishina/Galiamov in pairs might kill the hopes/chances for any of the other pairs competing earning the important big points here.

I can't find Kanysheva either 🆘
Help, am I stupid or is she missing?!

In juniors it is Artemeva/Nazarychev and Akhanteva/Kolesov who may block some junior pairs from Russian nationals.

Will they be the dark horse for 3rd spot? It's RUS fed, all is possible :D

You jest, but they were sent to Ice Star--and only to Ice Star--where the scores were ??? And Morozov & Bagin do, in fact, have the third highest RD score for a Russian team on the ISU SB list. And the 4th highest total score for a Russian dance team. M&B have been sent nowhere else; therefore, have no other international ISU scores to put those Ice Star marks of theirs into perspective. So no, I would not put it past the judges at Russian Nationals to put M&B right up there close to the podium at Russian Nationals. Which is not to say that I don't find it plausible that M&B have improved since last season; but if Russia really thinks M&B are capable of competing with Popova & Mozgov, etc., then the fed should darn well send them out with at least one of those teams to Golden Spin.

Morozov/Bagin won with 194,61pts.
You can say what you want, I really think they progressed a lot to last season. I like the overall flow of the FD, this was skated decently. I am really curious to see how they score in their second challenger in Croatia. I wouldn't count them out for nationals as dark horse for the 3rd spot. They are looking solid and decent this season.

Konkina/Drozd came in 2nd (181,00pts)

Mironova/Ustenko 3rd (136,47pts)

---

Khudaberdieva/Filatov won juniors (177,58pts)

Surprise silver for Khavronina/Chirizano (165,51pts)

Mamchenkova/Volkov 3rd (160,05pts)

Ouch 4th for Tyutyunina/Shustitsky

Sorry RUS fed, there is no need for a 3rd dance group at nationals!
Kick this one and add a 4th pairs group!

Only 1st group of pairs skated, and I am already
Besides M/G 3 really good pairs I have never heard of, 2 with really good scores.

Of course the team leaving the most impression with me did **** up the lift.
Who are Khabibulina/Khnyazhuk? (@Ka3sha) His name does sound familiar but does not ring a bell. He moves so softly and has really nice arms. Totally liked them.

Khabibulina/Knyazhuk have been the Russian Cup series all season. I only really remember him because he's another ginger pair boy.

The people in the chat on youtube were saying that this was a debut for Kadyrova/Balchenko. She just recently switched to pairs this season, she did a good job so far!

In juniors, one of the standouts for me was Metakaeva/Rebrik, they had a really pretty lift.

There's also the Zhuk memorial going on in Moscow for novice skaters. Older age is 2007-2008 and younger age is 2009 and younger.

Older age girls SP:

1. Sofia Akatieva 70.87 - she did 3A+3T as her combo

2. Sofia Samodelkina 69.27 - she did 3A<+3T; highest PCS

3. Veronika Zhilina 65.61

Younger Girls SP

1. Ksenia Melkumova - 57.52 (I'm impressed with the energy and presentation at her age)

If NotPolina & partner lost the SP by less than half a point, does that mean that they're the new Russian #2???
I vote yes. BabyGirl was not going to let that throw landing go. I'm cautiously optimistic about junior nationals and the world team.
