2020 Regional and Sectional Challenges (first round of qualifying competitions in all 4 disciplines)

NBC Sports Gold subscribers will be able to view the Senior & Junior events on demand sometime after each Regional concludes.
The Juvenile, Intermediate & Novice events will be made available for free, on demand viewing on the USFS Fan Zone Video Corner platform like last year.

Jill Heiner 152.76 at Philadelphia Summer Champs (she has a NQS bye to the Eastern Sectional Final)
Julia Biechler 146.61 at Skate Wilmington
Kristine Levitina 139.16 at Atlanta Open

Are the NQS standings listed anywhere publicly? I can't seem to find a link on the USFS website.

Will regionals be streamed anywhere? I can’t remember if it was last year or not.

Brynne McIsaac/Mark Sadusky are a new Senior pair based in Ellenton, Florida; however, they are not competing in Aston. I've posted more about them in the U.S. Pairs thread in GSD.

ETA that the singles events at Eastern Great Lakes take place from Friday to Sunday, Oct. 4-6, which is why the starting orders page is not up yet. Ditto for the Northwest Pacific Juvenile to Senior singles events (Oct. 4-5).

Looking at 2019 Nationals scores- that RD score from both Mids senior dance teams puts them in Manta/Johnson range, and well above the TES score of the 4 lowest teams who wouldn't have made this year's total (RD + FD) TES of 65 with their Nationals performances.

For Easterns pairs- Timlen/Highgate-Brutman's 22 TES is 5 points lower than any team at Nationals (including themselves who had 29 TES at Nationals), so hopefully they can increase that by the pairs final....I think they are coming back from injury?

On a side note, will Pfund/Santillan, Lochley/Prochnow, and Chan/Howe be competing this year? Perhaps some of them will show up at Pacs which is in a few weeks in SLC? Santillan is/was All Year FSC and Howe is/was LA FSC. Perhaps they chose Pacs to give them more time to prepare?

Yes, top 4. Although Jill Heiner has an NQS bye but elected to compete, so it's really top 5 in this case. And yes, Gracie will need the TES minimum either here or at Easterns.

I feel for her. In some ways I am sure this is one of the toughest competitions for her ever and there are so many people there for a regionals!

I just looked and she got a little over 25 TES for the short. I was really hoping she would get a bit higher tech to give her some wiggle room in the long. She definitely looked significantly better than she did at her Grand Prix last year but still not where she was (obviously). To me, it looked like her jumps were trained but the program was under trained. I am also sure that the pressure she feels is enormous!!! Even though I think most of us are just rooting for her to feel good about her comeback, she was 4th at an Olympics! People expect a lot out of her (even when we understand that she has been through a lot). I don’t know Gracie personally, but it takes some major guts to get out there and compete again. Getting through Regionals will be a feat in and of itself! I really wish the minimum score could be from regionals and sectionals combined. That might be her biggest hurdle...however we will see how the long goes...I hope she has been running the program enough that she is able to get her levels on non-jump levels, that did help her out on the short here. Her levels were pretty good. Back when she was in top form, she tended to get her levels on non-jump elements so fingers crossed! I’m rooting for her, and hope she feels good about herself. As a fan, I’m incredibly proud of her!

ETA on Saturday that 19 ladies competed in the SP yesterday and it looks like the FS starting order was redrawn later because now Gracie is listed to skate second to last now.

For the record, Gracie messed up the SP like she used to, although the jumps are better now. Let's see how the LP goes.
 
Also, Cailey Weaver had a strong SP skate. I know she said on social media that this is her last competition, and looks like it will be a high note to finish her competitive career. Very happy for her. I've loved watching her at Regionals all these years.
 
I'm here in Aston. Just had a sandwich since I figured I'd eat while there are still seats on the bleachers in Rink 1, lol. Watching the first group from the snack bar. It's bedlam in the lobby but pretty quiet here, lol. I'd like to see a skater I used to skate with in Junior Ladies but i'm thinking the timing is not going to cooperate so I may just go straight to Rink 1.

ETA: OK, so I was confused about the sched. There are 19 skaters in Senior (I could have sworn there were only 18 in the initial start order) so there are 4 groups and i assume an ice cut after the 2nd group, which just started.

Group 3 warming up. Stands are packed. This reminds me of Senior Men at Liberty back in the day when Patrick Chan and Jeremy Abbott competed.

People are grumbling about why didn't they put the Senior Ladies in (the much larger and warmer) Rink 2. I agree. Sigh.

And now it's time for Adele....
