@olympic The feds do not really go by the alternate list order in terms of picking pairs alternates; we've seen that the last few years. So if U.S. Figure Skating felt that C/J was the pair most deserving of 2 GP spots (among teams who only had 1 pick to start with), this was the right thing to do IMO.

OK. So it would not have been in the USFSA's interest to gamble on C/J likely being selected and giving L/M the spot

Happy for Wagret/Souquet!
Wasn't there an ISU rules forbidding doing shows and WD from GP? Am I confused?

^^^ For real???? They bow out of GP series for that?

Looking at Kevin's LOmbardia score I feel that France (used to be Italy) could be a team medal bronze threat for next Olys. They got dance, great pair, an improving man and hopefully an improving lady.

According to Vanessa's instagram stories, they're pulling back this season because they've decided to continue through 2022 and they want to give their brains and bodies a breather and also concentrate on improving certain elements and skating skills.

YASSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <3

I thought I'd take an attempt at the next 10 pairs on the list, all credit due to those who previously worked on it. I noticed that to replaces James/Cipres, the Japanese fed basically chose the #2 pair on the list. And we might imagine Ryom and Kim cannot travel just anywhere... Do we think France will just give up the pairs host spot? Will it be two days before the competition?

PAIRS (next 10):
PRK RYOM & KIM (COC)
CHN TANG & YANG (SC)
AUS ALEXANDROVSKAYA & WINDSOR (SA)
CAN RUEST & WOLFE (SA)
ITA GHILARDI & AMBROSINI (RC)
USA LOCKLEY & PROCHNOW (none)
USA LU & MITROFANOV (RC)
RUS KUDRIAVTSEVA/SPIRIDONOV (none) - unless they split, I don't follow junior pairs closely
CRO PETRANOVIC & SOUZA-KORDEIRU (none)
GBR JONES & BOYADJI (none)

France has already invited Ryom/Kim to take up the spot vacated by James/Cipres and so all eight slots at I de F are filled (go to the 'Participants' tab on this page for the up-to-date list).

Cool! So that leaves us with the following list - with no spots left to be filled at the moment other than the final Chinese host spot.

PAIRS (next 10):
CHN TANG & YANG (SC)
AUS ALEXANDROVSKAYA & WINDSOR (SA)
CAN RUEST & WOLFE (SA)

USA LU & MITROFANOV (RC)
RUS KUDRIAVTSEVA & SPIRIDONOV (none)
CRO PETRANOVIC & SOUZA-KORDEIRU (none)
GBR JONES & BOYADJI (none)
USA DIGERNESS & NEUDECKER (none) - had to w/d from Nebelhorn due to injury

Really? How far down is Kailani?

Did the Challenger points she got last week help her any?

The Challenger points this season do not count. Her SB last season was 107th. If she had won a Challenger, then she could have been included at the last slot in the waiting list, which usually consists of SB down to 75th.
