I saw official practice for the international men's FS. Their schedule for the weekend was grueling. I guess it is normal for them to have warmups, then skate the short, then have official FS practice right after, ending at 8 pm, then the next day have warmups at 8am. I could not do that.
For FS practice, Dolensky did an entire run through, jumps and all. Torgeshev did all his choreo and jumps, but no spins. Rowe did all choreo but no jumps. Pulkenin did only the jumps and just the steps leading into the jumps. He was wiping out A LOT. I don't know how his body can take it. Also, he seemed to be favoring his left knee.
I really enjoyed seeing the guys in person. Such a privilege.
Dolensky has a solid, upright, enthusiastic look on the ice. Torgeshev does "emotion" better than anyone and does twice as many steps. Pulkinen moves exquisitely, the most gorgeous glide. And Ma of course, is personality-plus.
