2018-19 Programs and Choreographers

That and that Michael Buble song about Feeling Good!
It's not a Buble song, though. It's an old classic written by two English composers for a musical in the 1960s and it has been sung/performed by many other famous singers, not just Buble - including Nina Simone and Muse. If someone wanted to use it again, they could at least choose another version, for example, Simone's which is great.

I really don't want to see too many tangos, given that we will have to sit through the SDs with much the same music (there seem to be about 5 tangos that everyone uses).
Maybe we'll have more variety in tango choices since so many teams train in Montreal - if they each have a different tango, that'll help.

@lauravvv ITA. While Buble's is the most palatable for the modern tastes in music, I love Nina Simone's unique, jazzy version of it. I think her vocal interpretation of the song could lead to some very unique choreography.

@cygnus I wish there was a rule that whatever the SD was none of the other disciplines can use that rhythm. At the very least I hope this year the SD doesn't end up being 50% devoted to Assassin's Tango and Moulin Rouge. There's some very interesting tangos out there including an entire stage show worth of unique tango music: Forever Tango. You'd think they could go with a wider variety of choices when it comes to tangos. It seems like there's not as much warhorsing with the other latin dances and despite the fact that tango music is very abundant...

But when will someone use the Tango Maureen? ;)

Allegedly (as in, according to those watching trainings), here's the music choices for Tarasova/Morosov:

Short program - "Are You Gonna Go My Way" by Lenny Kravitz (instrumental version);
Free program - "The Winter" by Barmolhea.

FFS...leave it to them to suck the life out of Lenny Kravitz. They may be dead to me.

Why can't they just skate to warhorses like everyone else??? :wall:
At least the FP music seems nice (although topping candyman and music is my first love isn't hard)

Wow, love that LP music. Let's hope the program isn't a snoozefest. It's a hell of a lot easier to throw on a couple of angsty facial expressions then shake your ass to "Nasty Boy", however, so I'll remain optimistic for the time being.

As for the SP, at least it's an instrumental...

I believe the conversation on the Russian boards about T/M music went like this:
poster A: here are some short clips of their practice from the stands.....

poster B: LP music "shazam" identifies as "The Winter" by Barmolhea but don't take it as the final truth.... i think Medvedeva used it once.
poster C: (about SP) i ran it through Shazam music software recognition, and it came up with "Are You Gonna Go My Way" by Lenny Kravitz.

And.... to me one of the 3 clips sounded like "Supertramp"/Take a look at my girlfriend....
I also saw 2 other short clips with other "rink music", kind of like this..... and one other clip had music which sounded like "bollywood" according to someone trying it on "shazam"...

You're right... the middle clip has samples Supertramp's "Breakfast in America" song in there.

Sara Hurtado/Kirill Khaliavin
RD: Libertango + something else
FD: Great Gig in the Sky; by Pink Floyd, Sign of the times; by Harry Styles

Viktoria Sinitsina/Nikita Katsalapov
FD: Air, Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D major; by Johann Sebastian Bach + something else

From Russian boards (main source: Pirouette magazine)

Supertramp!?!?!?! Wow!!

RE: T/M. It's 'Cupid's Chokehold' by Gym Class Heroes. The song was popular 10 or so years ago and heavily samples Supertramp.

And I'm fairly certain that the last clip is 'Don't Turn the Lights On' by Chromeo, and they definitely seem to be doing choreography to it.

I hear absolutely no Lenny Kravitz.

I can't watch the videos right now, but if T/M are indeed doing a program to 'Cupid's Chokehold'....:rofl::rofl:

Potential is there to top Candyman, Nasty Boy, Music, and Lionel Richie for their most WTF music selection yet! :respec:

However, Chromeo is one of my favorite bands, and I feel like seeing Morozov skate to anything by them would be like seeing my parents having sex. :scream:

I meant to say exactly this in my reply earlier. We all know it's coming ;)

He put Air with Escalier & Tango Tchack for Nazarova & Nikitin. (I can't believe it's been four seasons).

It has not been four seasons since I have heard Libertango.

Tango Warhorse Count:
Cell Block Tango-1
Libertango-1
Oblivion-2

@Dobre Shocked there's no Moulin Rouge yet!

Excited to see a Cell Block Tango if it's played straight. I feel like too often it's choreographically done generic tango as opposed to a black widow tango. In fact, has it ever been done as a more black widow thing for a skating routine?
