2018-19 Programs and Choreographers

His long program should actually be a mix of that and of Schindler's List. He said in the video it was two songs, and that's what the other emoji clues refer to.

Yes I know it was a mix. I'm cool with with getting half of it right. I'm no over achiever!

I thought you could not repeat quads under new scoring rules.

For example, how about such a layout?

11.50 4Lz
12.80 4Lz+2T
10.50 4Lo
3.20 CCSP4
3.90 STSQ4
11.00 4F
13.70 4T+3T
10.67 4S
15.18 3A+1Lo+3F
3.00 CHSQ1
3.50 FCCOSP4
3.50 CCOSP4
102.45

I think his FS of this time focuses on techniques.
For expression of music, SP may be more attractive.
However, from the viewpoint of appealing the technique, I can understand the aim.

Not quite. You can repeat two quads and no triples, or one quad and one triple, or two triples and no quads.

Wait I thought it was 1 quad and 1 triple can be repeated or 2 triples no quads. I thought this was the compromised instead of no repeated quads.

Interesting. This SP makes me realize how much I'd enjoy a Whiplash OST program.
That was Kevin Reynolds' SP music last season (debuted at B.C. Summer Skate) before he decided to return to an older program.

Josh Farris has choreographed a competition program for Jimmy Ma :) - I originally posted the Q&A article link in the U.S. Men's thread (Jimmy also talked about working with Nikolai Morozov who has choreographed his recent SPs) and will re-post it here: http://figureskatersonline.com/news/2018/07/23/jimmy-ma-speaks-his-mind-to-figure-skaters-online/

Kevin Reynolds always has such great music and costumes that it's a shame we don't get to see him more on an international stage or at the very least on a stage that's broadcast widely.

Agree.
And I was disappointed that he gave up his Whiplash short. I really liked it

Aren't we going to see him for one more year....or has he retired and I missed that....?

Reynolds is competing one more season and he announced his programs on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/BlmNeeuBdSy/?hl=en&taken-by=kevin.reynolds

My short program is to Nobuo Uematsu’s Illusionary World, choreographed by Lance Vipond. It was my first time working with Lance this summer, and it was a wonderfully enjoyable experience.
I will also have a new free skate to the music of Ni no Kuni by Joe Hisaishi, and I’m looking forward to developing and performing it soon.

Ooh. I’m into Marin doing a The White Stripes program.
I exactly had the opposite thought.

And that's why I love this forum :40beers::respec:
TBH I had both reactions.

I thought "Seven Nation Army" choreographed by Shae Lynn Borne sounds amazing. But then again Marin doesn't strike me as the type that can knock a rock song out of the park with a huge presence on the ice. If anything I think the song will out-skate her unless she's doing some strange lower-key cover of it. BUT, the girls of Rafael's camp (at least Eunsoo and Mariah) have been doing hip hop dance classes, so if she's doing those maybe she's ramping up for tough music. I'm going to wait on this one.

I just hope it’s the original version and not the Muzak version skaters have been using

@MR-FAN That's what I'm hoping as well. The Muzak version makes me cry with how awful it is. Isn't the point of Seven Nation Army to be a bada** song? That version takes all the bada** out of it and negates the entire point of the song.

There is that jazzy version by a female singer which was used by several junior dance teams in the 2016/2017 season. It was either this - https://youtu.be/sB6HY8r983c - or something similar. I don't remember exactly and can't find the singer by name as I was not familiar with her and don't know it (the name). Maybe Marin is using that version.

What do you call Muzak? Is Muzak only instrumental versions of songs, or is the jazzy version which I posted above also Muzak?

I was thinking of the violin instrumental version, but I also don’t like this jazzy version, which many skaters have also used :shuffle:

@lauravvv To be fair I also don't like the jazzy Postmodern Jukebox version, I just didn't know anyone had used it. As I said, I think the song is all about the feel of toughness and the pounding beat/baseline. Anything without that sounds weird to me.

...because we don’t hear this one often enough...
I don't find overused The Mission ... I just don't find the music that pleasant (although love the film and EM's music in general). Never understood what "part" or "theme" a female skater can portray in The Mission ..

Yes, of course it is, you're right. Apparently my brain likes symmetry so much it added an extra term in there just to create a 2-1/1-2 structure entirely independent of the actual rules...which I should have remembered properly because I was following along the livestream for the discussion of the change!
