Orange is the New Black fans may recall a character named Brandy. The actor, Asia Kate Dillon, is now a regular on the very excellent Billions and is earning rave reviews as hedge fund analyst Taylor, the first genderless character on a mainstream tv show.

Dillon also identifies as non-binary, and the network allowed them to submit their name in whatever category they wished for Emmy consideration. They chose Actor as being a more neutral word. (Apparently the Emmy rules have always been open to whoever wants to submit in a category, regardless of gender identification.)

According to Wiki, thanks in part to Dillon's efforts, the MTV Movie Awards has now eliminated gender-based categories.

I'm curious about World of Dance, premiering May 30 on NBC. The concept is great. Too bad that I will have to bear JLo and Derek Hough, but it's a small price to pay for more dance on TV.

A hacker has claimed to have stolen copies of shows from several streaming services and TV networks. The hacker have threatened to release the 5th season of "Orange is the New Black" unless Netflix pays a ransom. The FBI is investigating. This scares me because if networks and streaming services lose money because their content is stolen and pirated then some will eventually go out of business or drastically cut back on original content. That will mean we could lose some of our favourite shows.

But if you already have a Netflix subscription, chances are, you're not going to cancel it because a show was leaked, especially if the show wasn't leaked completely.
I think there is more of a danger for networks to lose viewers/revenue due to a leaked show than for online streaming services.

Downward Dog is looking interesting from the commercials. Who doesn't love a snarky talking dog! :dog: I think I'll give this a go.

So I'm so psyched with Fargo with Ewan McGregor (playing brothers) and the wonderful David Thewlis, Carrie Coon and Mary Beth Winstead. I don't know what it is with snow, absolute cold, small town characters and murder. Anyway I'm all in on this one.

I'm also watching Brockmire. I was never much of a Hank Azaria fan but I find this character compelling and funny and I DO like Amanda Peet a lot and she doesn't disappoint either. And I LOVE Silicon Valley and it is still fresh and funny imho.

The Leftovers is such a weird show but I need to know what is going to happen to the majority left on earth so I'm all in on that one too.

American Gods: First week out and I thought it was "meh.' But I like the source material and the cast so I'll give it a go.

I think The Handmaid's Tale is the big tv event of the summer. It sounds excellent.

The first episode aired last Sunday. I thought it was well-done, and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Not sure where you are but in Canada they aired 2 episodes last Sunday. If you are in Canada you may want to check for repeats of the second episode before the new show on Sunday.

And something different, at least to me, and perhaps a nod to the fact that with the warmer weather we are less inclined to be couch potatoes - Bravo Canada ads for the show are in heavy circulation with prominent encouragement to PVR the show.
