2016 Academy Awards (Oscars) - Ceremony & Red Carpet

I really would have loved to see Gena Rowlands receive an honorary Oscar. Incredible actress.

^^ Yes, I wanted to see the honorary award presented to Lauren Bacall, but that was the first year those genre of awards were not televised on the regular broadcast.

A figure skating commercial!

Leo may be starting to feel a little nervous. Stutterer, another outsider, wins for Best Live Action Short Film

i only saw son of saul. for a movie where the outcome was very expected, i was somehow on the edge of my seat.

the death roll call always makes me feel so old and sad

Yes, it is sad. I didn't realize Robert Loggia had passed. And some of those who passed were not that old.

Joe Biden? I didn't know he was going to be on the Oscars. Okay, he's talking about sexual abuse.

Awww I would have loved Colombia to win but as per my sister's BF Son of Saul was much better.

Oh I feel bad for Stallone. His loss reminds me of when Lauren Bacall lost the Supporting Actress when she was heavily favored to win.

Poor Lauren. She lost out to Juliette Binoche, when The English Patient swept the board back in 1997

Rylance's acting piece in Bridge of Spies was so stunningly subtle, great award.

I'm so happy for Mark Rylance, one of the best actors I've ever watched on screen. It's great when subtlety is rewarded. Sometimes I feel that the Academy favours performances in which actors dramatically change their physical appearance in one way or the other. Surely it is at least as difficult to portray a character by just acting?

It took me a minute to understand why Biden was talking about sexual abuse on campus during the Oscars.

ETA: That was a powerful moment when the survivors came out.

What a year for Lady GaGa.

I know this song has a serious subject matter, but this song sounds like a James Bond reject song...or what Spectre should have been.

The icon named Lady Gaga.

Her voice sounded so supreme and so good. I'm proud of her.

I am so uninspired by the movies Hollywood is putting out these days. It all just seems so corporate or something. Where are ground breaking films that really make people think or inspire them and really expand the mind? I've had it with guns, guns, guns, violence, explosions and all the depressing Hollywood drech. My favorite category for the last number of years has been Best Foreign Film. Hoping for some good ones there!

Every movie this year in the best foreign film category is about war, so good luck ...

This. Rylance has more talent in his pinkie than Stalline has in his whole body

Although I wouldn't be mad if Brie Larson won as I think she gave a deserving performance, I'm still hoping for Saoirse Ronan to pull off an upset.
