#2 KAETLYN OSMOND : CANADA'S SWEETHEART

Oy,

After she finished the first section with jumps in the GPF Free and was done with the "slow" section I said to myself OK, this is where a double and a fall happens. And of course we got the double on the loop followed by a fall. (although a kick as* lutz before).

I hope her sports psych is nailing down the mental component of the second half of her free programs. Its almost a formula now 3 lutz/ 3toe +3 GOE, 2axel/3 toe +3 GOE, slow section, double on a loop or something, fall on a salchow or toe. To a formula!!!!!!

Uggggg

I need her as my Oly Champion. And if not her Miss Carolina Kostner! Come on ladies!!!!!! :)

You may be on to something. If you do something in the same way enough times, it does become a habit. I know it's very late in the game, but I wonder if it would be possible to make some change in her program at that point that would help break the pattern and shake her out of the habit.

A lot of people are hyping this as a battle between Medvedeva and Zagitova, but I think Osmond if she skates perfectly is the one skater, and that includes Kostner who I know is a legend and all time great and people love but who doesnt have the tech. ability needed at this point even if she skates cleanly, to take down the Russians. I hope it happens her and with her season she has been saving her great performances for this very event.

Either way she should be getting a gold medal in the Team Event, but hopefully adds another medal, and if she skates her very best could well be another gold, in the individual. With all the pressure on Zagitova and Medvedeva I doubt both/maybe either will skate perfectly either, providing an even bigger opening for Osmond with her talents if she can deliver the skates of her life.

I'll be off and on the computer all night, so I'll just say this now: GO KAETLYN!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Re-posting from the Canadian Pairs thread in GSD:
I had no idea Picard coached Osmond.
I didn't either - cross-posting Beverley Smith's blog article about Seguin/Bilodeau's coach, Josee Picard, and her discovery of a very young Kaetlyn here.
Excerpt:
Coaching high-level skaters brought with it stress and pressure. So in 2002, Picard stepped away from the sport. “I needed to get my life sorted out,” she said. “I needed to regroup and then decide if I was going to do it again.”
The answer, after a time, was yes. “I realized it was one of the things I really loved,” she said.
When she returned, the first group of little kids that she coached included Osmond, who won the national juvenile title under Picard.
While coaching for her entire lifetime in Montreal, Picard helped set up coaching seminars in Newfoundland and that’s where she found Osmond, a spicy 4-year-old. Picard’s practiced eye knew what she was beholding.
“I had picked her out of a Future Stars group,” Picard said. “I already knew she was something amazingly special. I told her, I told the parents.”
Then Osmond and her older sister moved into Picard’s house in Montreal for a time to take more lessons before the family moved to Alberta. Picard was asked if she would like to go to Edmonton too. Picard thought: “Not really.” But she guided Osmond to skate with Ravi Walia, a new coach. She thought he would be amazing. Right again.

I am a Yank so I am no homer when I tell you that I thought she was the best tonight. She skated so freely. I love Satoko's choreo but I thought K was right on par with A technically but superior in her components. Talk me off the ledge---what did I miss?
