2026 Olys Team Event PBP Day 2 - Will It Be YAYmoz? Or GO!GO!lev?

I didn’t like Lopareva & brissaud at the beginning and just when I had started getting into them they started dropping. :blah:
Same! Then I liked them but thought they were a mismatch. I wanted them both to split and pair with others. Now I love them as a team.

I haven't really watched the Georgians in a long time and just "wow". I loved that and felt they should get the most improved award. I can see them being top challengers down the road. I also really enjoyed the Italians and frankly would have placed them above the winners.

I'll just say this about Maddie and Evan's Free Dance. There are only a few skaters that have kept me mesmerized enough to not even pay attention to what the audience was doing. I was actually hypnotized.

Maddie and Evan's twizzles were perfect and they were synchronized. Their footwork was in sync and used only one leg and foot to skate on before they would begin another twizzle or before Evan would lift her to do one of those fabulous spins. I also loved how Maddie made her skirt part of the program. I watched on my big screen TV.

Anyway, I'm so proud and happy for Team USA right now. They're all doing their job as a team.

Was watching the BBC because I can’t stand Simon Reed so had to go back and hear what Louise Walden said on British Eurosport. She repeated several times that Chock and Bates were slow and the programme didn’t have as much ice coverage as she would like. She did also say they were the best on the night.

DAY 3 start orders have been posted on the Olympics site.

One more vote for C/B. Never has a team started each season so slowly and come up with winners in the end. That was expressive, exciting and it had a lot of intricate moves. Evan does look a bit stiff from the back problems but he’s come such a long way from the goofy naif in American in Paris.

I’m thinking if this beats The Whale the level of :argue: will be amazing….

This cycle was definitely the lost generation for ice dance.
Wow. Harsh.🤔

I have thoroughly enjoyed this quad of ice dance. So many wonderful ice dancers who work so hard and put their lives into this very difficult sport. Loved so many of the performances in the team event here. Today the top four performances were wonderful. I thought C&B were amazing. The red flare of the skirt really adding drama. Like her new costume very much. I feel lucky that I really enjoy C&B despite all the hate they get here. But it seems like the skaters on the top always get the extra hate on these boards.

What a nail biter tomorrow it is going to be for the medals. How fun! And like Alysa says, it’s not life or death. I’m intrigued by the possibility of a tie for first that won’t be broken by the rules. Both teams vying for team gold are so deserving. I’m in awe of what these athletes can do at the Olympic level.

It takes a quick search to see your often questioning the PCS over the years- was it working as designed all those times?

I really can’t understand why people get worked up over my thought that Jin is massively overscored on PCS, but here we are.

OMG I'VE BEEN FOUND OUT!!!

Seriously, not sure what prompted you reading all that into my comment.

I will defend everyone's right to complain about component marking, always. Maybe one day we'll get a good system.

In spite of the haters, I'm finding C/B's FD more and more engaging with each outing.
Same!!! I found them spellbinding today, even better than Nationals.

I have thoroughly enjoyed this quad of ice dance.

I enjoyed it more than the previous two quads. None of the current crop will be remembered as brilliant technicians, but I can at least remember some of their programs. That's more than I can say about the previous two quads, which without a doubt had better technicians.

I also like the decades dances (sue me  ), though the execution could be improved.

I do understand why technical purists don't like the current crop of dancers, though. If Louise Walden's comments were comparing C&B to all-time greats, then she does have a point.

Honestly! Just read this thread! 😳
Some of the viewer/fan irritation is caused by the questions regarding the calls and judging. It was never going to be the easiest when compared to the other disciplines but I think they could reduce a lot of this if they just made more of an attempt to help us understand their reasoning.

I like Chock and Bates and think they deserve to be world champions but when I compare C&B of today with multiple world champions/Olympic gold medalists, not so much.

I'm disappointed that Torgashev isn't getting the chance to skate tomorrow.
I was disappointed Zingas/Kolesnik didn’t get FD. But I also get it.

I was just thinking it would be nice to have a strong young team with some Olympic medal swag in dance. Oh well, they all should have a clean slate (unless Georgia gets bronze).

Neither am I. Torgy (and Max) had the chance to prove all season that they deserved consideration for the TE. They did not.

In all honesty, I think they'd be relieved. They both should realize they aren't medal contenders in the IE, and although they obviously want to do well, can hopefully relax and just not feel as much pressure on "bringing home the medal" that they would feel in doing the team event.

It was too close. And they might not go to 4/5 games but hopefully they’ll be at 1-2 more. I hope C/B aren’t at a disadvantage to the other top teams who get an extra day.

I'm sorry I feel like this is a lame question, but why arent the scores the total of the 4 events? what is that 5th Q column and why does Japan, God's team, have only 6?
