2026 Olys Team Event PBP Day 2 - Will It Be YAYmoz? Or GO!GO!lev?

To everyone complaining that Malinin should've been sent to the last Olympics "for experience", you know who fully skated to their ability in their first Olympics? 😄

Stephen Gogolev!! 🇨🇦

(And Madeline Schizas 🇨🇦 in 2018 2022)

Calm down, you'll beat us soon enough. 😉

How is that cape skirt not detracting for Chock to skate around and Evan to lift her with it?
I wonder why she's not just wearing an actual skirt? Obviously not the same as skating, but when I did ballroom dance back in the day, I wore long skirts for flamenco, and I can imagine that not having a front to the skirts prevents it from being anchored towards her body and makes it flap around even more.

Which is why I wouldn't pay to attend when I can watch on TV and have a better seat. I'd go to speed skating events or alpines and board events, but not figure skating unless there was some skater I really really wanted to see live.
It was amazing volunteering today at the speed skating, I’mright where the athlete goes down the stairs (to keep media out) and had the most amazing views of the races, the Italian Canadian one was the best.. My colleagues went crazy! Fab fans too.. great seats for the public too as have great views and not to far away.

Utana Yoshida/Masaya Morita 🇯🇵
Coach: C. Reed, S. Moir, M. Hubbell, A. Diaz
Music: Rise of the Phoenix, X-X, Rise of the Phoenix

One Foot Turns W:2 M:2
Synchronized Twizzles W:4 M:2 (W:4 M:4 after review) - checked rotation for Masaya on the 2nd twizzle
Straight Line 4 + Rotational Lift 4
Dance Spin 4
Circular Step Sequence W:1 M:1
Stationary Lift 4
Choreographic Character Step Sequence
Choreographic Dance Lift

Choreographic Sliding Movement

Pretty solid technical elements aside from Morita's twizzles, and they've done what they needed to do for Japan's Gold medal hopes which was to take the ice, and complete their performance.

98.55 = 1st Place

I felt like being one of the older teams C/B wouldn't be skating today but they must want that Gold in the team event too. So much for the team event not meaning anything you can see how it's a much bigger deal with each Olympics just by how nervous these skaters are knowing they are skating not just for themselves but their teammates. And the worry that the same teams would be on the podium every 4 years but we see how teams are trying to build overall teams and are much more competitive then even 4 years ago. This event is going to continue to get bigger and more important.

The crowd was insane when Lollobrigida crossed that finish line. It was electric.

Japan ice dance team feels like a last minute oops we need a dance team for team event

eta: I did enjoy the dance but it's not at the same level as what we will see.

Yoshida & Morita started so strong with the One Foot Turns, and were so grossly under marked for it. And then the program started getting rougher and rougher. Transitions weren't smooth, even during the Choreo Step. Everything felt some level of sluggish as the program went on. The choreo slide to end was slow, and looked like they were skating through mud.

But it doesn't matter. They'll get their 6 points for Team Japan.

Maybe it's working as designed :shuffle:
It takes a quick search to see your often questioning the PCS over the years- was it working as designed all those times?

I really can’t understand why people get worked up over my thought that Jin is massively overscored on PCS, but here we are.
