Omg that Sailor Moon program is so good! I'm surprised she pulled it off so well

Excuse me, does it mean, that you laugh at Medvedeva?

It was amazing for me, that people, who think they may judge who is a good person and who is not so good, - those people also think they may laugh at hungry Lipnitskaya, who is 18 years young. (Now. Not in Sochi, but now. 18.)

Medvedeva is Medvedeva. When she falls, I still respect her. They all fall, if you didn't notice. I want to see, that she gets up, that she is in good health. That's enough for me.

:) And I don't think this clothes is too bad. Though for me Sailor Moon never was interesting.
Now Japan loves Evgenia.

I also think Evgenia may tell the lyrics in Japanese, if she wants to tell lyrics in Japanese.
I think she may love Japan, if she loves Japan.

I wouldn't mind if she competed that Sailor Moon program. Not even as a snark, it's genuinely really cool. :kickass: I love that she has spunk and owns who she is, especially when I didn't know she could be so fun. She even has a goofy dance for unveiling the sailor moon socks. :inavoid: Now that she's also messing up on that arm over the head and getting taller, I find her so much more appealing and interesting to watch. :watch: She's more human, hopefully the creativity and fun doesn't stop at that program.

That said, I have all 3 medals reserved for ladies until 2019 at Worlds and Olympics for other skaters that I will prefer no matter what she does. Sorry, but see you all on the bandwagon in 2019. (The judges will disagree, but this entire paragraph is all about me anyways so you might as well ignore it) She's a really cool skater/person with that Sailor Moon program

:) !!!
Why don't you take 3 kilograms of medals (every year)? Gold medals, of course. Would it be enough for all your friends?

Don't worry. Evgenia will have good programs for a competition. She also will graduate from school (she hasn't done it yet). And she will find time to do something else.

I see, that these interviews / articles weren't posted in this thread.

(Maybe they were posted in GSD. I can't check all the threads.)

 I decide every podium every single year, the judges just always have other opinions. :p And you have a really great idea, maybe chocolate medals too so they can enjoy the end of the season.

School and other interests should be excellent for her, or she's likely to end up coocoo crazy like me. :biggrinbo

Hopefully we get the program news soon!

I was surprised, when I heard this for the first time. Why everybody are so worried about her tights? :)

It's an aesthetics issue and not really an issue, per se, … just a preference to a skater’s overall look. Some people do not particularly care for skaters wearing tights / leggings that go over the boot(s) because even though it is meant to elongate the legs (line of the body) etc. It is not the most flattering look, but something tells me that Evgenia is not too concerned by this ;) and frankly she shouldn’t be.

From the new Averbukh's interview:
(the underlined words is my variant, because Averbukh says "organichna", not "ogranichena")

AS: Would you call the style of Medvedeva's new programmes a continuation of the previous ones?

IA: Let me put it this way: it's not an exhibition, we have points to gain. The result depends on how well the elements are executed. We tried different styles with Evgenia. We tried a tango, a space diva from `Gravitation'. And came to a conclusion, that today Evgenia's current characters are organic for her. She feels comfortable there and lands the jumps. Yes, everyone wants a constant change. But I don't think putting a different colour costume and skating to a happy music would do the trick. She has to get there. So yes, for now it's a development of the style she had last year. But, in my point of view, the programmes are more complicated, more interesting and complex.

There is more about her programs:

Evgenia says she would like to try 4 salchow, but in the end of the season.
About Zagitova. They skate together (at the same time). Evgenia says she likes a "healthy" rivalry, the relations in the group are good, they are friends.

After GP (in this interview: http://www.sovsport.ru/gazeta/article-item/936346) Averbukh was saying, that at GP Evgenia skated her programs with 80% of that strength which is expected. He explained, that Evgenia was ill not once, when they prepared the programs, that she had small injuries... Averbukh expected a better speed, more confident step sequence.

I watched her Euros FS today. I was captivated. And I have not been a fan. She definitely won me over.

I agree in a way. I'm from an older generation, and nothing at all against Evgenia because several skaters wear their tights over their boots now. It also doesn't take away from Evgenia's skating. I just always felt it looked much neater for a skater to wear the tights inside the boots. Like I said, I'm from a generation (all the way back to Peggy Fleming and Dorothy Hamill who's a year older than me) that always wore their tights inside their boots. I guess some old habits are hard to break.

But no matter what, I love Evgenia and am also a fan of hers along with many others. :)

New WAIT...WHAT!!! video for Evgenia from the ISU (in English): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RN-tRAMdua4
So Med is winning me over a little bit this week.

First we get video of her mini-Leonova voids from 2011;

and now in this new ISU vid, she reveals her favorite actor is Benedict Cumberbatch and her favorite singer is Britney Spears! :respec:

Medvedeva has a chance to overtake Slutskaya as the best Russia female figure skater. One more WC or Olympic title will be enough. I don't know if Evgenia can get as many EC titles, but Irina has never dominated as much as Evgenia did.

Her FS was absolutely beautiful. The only thing I didn't like were the back to back jumps in the middle of it but otherwise, it was a joy to watch. She has some great lines, movements and skating skills. And pretty costumes, too ;) Well-deserving World Champion!

Just when you think she has earned the most points possible, her score goes up! It will be very interesting to see what she does for next year, and if anyone can keep up point wise.

Well, the team decided, that this year her programs should be comfortable for her.
As for the result... they have the result.
(Not because of comfortable programs, of course.) :)
It is nice, that Evgenia tried something else in her exhibition programs and that Spivakov's musicians played for Evgenia the music by Massenet...

9 May is The Victory Day in Russia :)

Evgenia:
... We remember my grandma's father, who had returned from the war healthy, though he was contused, he walked with a cane. And my grandma's own brother, who had died, when he participated in reconnaissance (on foot). And our relative Mikhail, who was storming Berlin and had got two Orders of the Red Banner...

Only few veterans are still alive. So now the Russians take portraits of the dead and carry them. It wasn't Putin's idea, the first march of the Immortal Regiment took place not in Moscow. As for me, I don't even think, that a war can be a reason to be proud, but I really like, that my country tries to remember the real war - as it is. The real war isn't a beautiful game. I am worried, when I see, that even Russians start to make movies, in which a war looks too beautiful and cool.
Yet I like, of course, that people on this video are smiling:

Now the Immortal Regiment marches in many countries.

"The Day of Victory" song is translated, but it is a pity, that the most important words are not saved in the translation. "Sadness" is not the right word. In Russian we have:
This is a celebration with gray hair on our heads,
This is a gladness with tears in our eyes...
