The Amber Glenn Realness Appreciation Fan Page

Amber mentioned in last night's press conference that she is going to be working with her choreographer to change the last part of her free program because she's having trouble finding enough time to get the levels in her spin and set up properly for the loop. As is usually the case, Amber found a way to criticize her own performance even though it was an amazing performance with the title on the line in an Olympic season. But, it was a fun press conference:

Amber is a guest on today's episode on The Runthrough, which is great because Sarah, Ashley, and Adam are all big Glennheads. She talks about how she has been planning her Milan schedule for the last few weeks and also about how she had Lisa McKinnon make broaches for Damon that matched her costumes. Plus, her discussion with Isabeau the first time she heard Isabeau cuss. She also explains who the hoes are.

Glenn is such an athlete. Besides Tuk has any woman had a reliable 3A longer than Amber? Of course its supposed to be the performance on the night. But if I`m a judge I`m going to be thinking in Milan how high a technical standard Amber has brought the last couple years. Kaori gets brilliant GOE but Amber`s version will be a challenge to that.

NBC News article by Andrew Greif (Jan. 22, 2026):
I really like that this is from NBC, a mainstream source.

Amazing article.
There's an embedded video, too.

In the video, her mom says that Amber was told to stop smiling when she landed a jump. That's sad. And weird. Girls usually get the opposite message. Plus, I'm pretty sure that other skaters, like Ami, get a bump in their PCS just for smiling and being excited that they landed the triple axel.

I wonder if Amber has internalized that messaging. I always want Amber to be happier at the end of her programs. I thought that she didn't smile often because she tends to be so hypercritical of herself. I would like to see her be genuinely happy but also I think the judges won't score her as high if she herself doesn't look like she thinks she did great. But, smiling or not smiling because you are female is ridiculous.

I do think it's weird if Amber's skating generally or a triple axel or Janet Jackson music or her haircut or costumes are seen as "masculine." No wonder there is so little variety in the music in women's skating. I don't think there is anything wrong with skating to classical music and there are plenty of programs I like to classical music. But, I really would like to see more variety.

Yes, that video came up in my YouTube algorithm a few nights ago and I watched it, I was infuriated with it because you see pictures of a young Amber with her smile. There’s actually nothing wrong with that, she looked just like Tara Lipinski and Tara Lipinski’s 98 smile…..

Then I started wondering all the things Tonya Harding must’ve been told and other women and girls…..

I cannot believe even when Amber was an adolescent she was still hearing crap that was told to people in the 70s 80s and 90s and before that.

It’s really interesting. I actually see Amber as feminine…. i don’t know whether she identifies that way or not …I don’t know but when I see her I don’t see someone who is tall or muscular or this or that, I just see her as an attractive female that has a healthy body.

Me, too! Her appearance, skating, and demeanor all seem "feminine" to me. I was really surprised by what they said in the video. Some of it came from Amber. But some of it came from Adam, so maybe he is just trying to dramatize it a bit more? I do remember gymnast Aly Raisman saying something about her muscles making her feel less feminine. But, all successful skaters have muscles. I guess all it takes is a few comments to a girl about smiles and muscles and it can get into her head. And since Amber deals with anxiety, that can make it worse.
