2026 Euros in Sheffield GBR planning thread

Advice please. I’m arriving at Manchester airport mid morning on Monday. How much time should I allow to collect luggage and go through customs? I have allowable snacks as well as prescription meds, but no listed drugs that trigger additional security.

I don't think Manchester should take too long? I've never been! Sometimes at Heathrow I've waited forever for my bags but with eGates it's real quick to enter the UK. I think Manchester has eGates too.

@Aceon6 I just bought mine when I saw how cheap it was immediately so I never stored anything.

@morqet @Lanie @Private Citizen Thank you SO much!! I feel much better knowing our options.
My sister and I are landing at Heathrow at different times on the 12th so we have some thinking to do!

@Aceon6 I'll be wearing a mask on the plane and bringing extra with me. It keeps me warm when it gets too cold outside or in the arena. I needed it at Japan Nationals!

I'll give you odds:
  • 50% likely it takes < 30 minutes from being off the plane to being landside / exiting the secure area
  • 95% likely it takes < 60 minutes
  • 99% likely it takes < 90 minutes

Passport control is usually very quick - less than five minutes using the e-gates. Americans (and EU and other low-risk countries) use the same queue as Brits. Unless your passport doesn't scan properly for whatever reason, you won't need to interact with a person and won't be asked any questions.

Luggage is highly variable. It took an hour at Heathrow this past weekend, but can be quick. I'd expect Manchester to be quicker.

"Customs" is really just walking through a green lane (no goods to declare) or a red lane (goods to declare). There are random inspections, but I think it has happened to me once in 10 years of very frequent travel. 99% of the time you won't see a person.

Click and collect option should be available to all yes (I know there was issues for non-Brits a few months ago but should be sorted)
Worked well for me. I printed a copy of the receipt just in case WiFi is spotty.
Any update on when ticket transfer will be available?

Will All-Event ticket holders be allowed to watch the practices at the practice rink, Ice Sheffield?

I pre-ordered some merch but not sure of sizes so I’ll try the zoodies and hoodies on at the arena.

I could not get Trainline to complete a search, even with a Manchester UK VPN. So I downloaded Omio and got what I needed.

Now I need to edit my capsule wardrobe! To tiff or not to tiff.

I probably should've posted earlier about how to buy train tickets, but you can buy train tickets on East Midlands Railway: https://www.eastmidlandsrailway.co.uk/ (Or any of the rail companies' web sites, but East Midlands Railway operates the service between St Pancras and Sheffield.)

I just bought my train tickets, and there are a few crazy deals right now. For going out Saturday - coming back Sunday, there were £40 each way first-class train tickets available. That's cheaper than super off peak return in standard class. Even on the individual trains, first-class seats were cheaper than standard.

It's normally not worth paying much extra for, but when it's cheaper, it's a no brainer if you can commit to specific trains and don't require a flexible ticket. The seats are a bit more comfortable, and I believe there's food and drink service.... although it's always a mystery to me what's a "long route" (food service) and what's a "short route" (biscuit only), and in true British fashion there is no food or drink service on Sunday because things have to be overly complicated.

In any case, there'll be no grumbling from me because first was cheaper than standard, and it can't possibly be worse!

Sorry, I'm going to be the annoying person with a Ticketmaster question.

Have any all-event ticketholders been able to access them in the Ticketmasker app? I've got the gala ones there (and received an email telling me they were available) but not the all-event. I could still access them in my online account so not worried that anything major's gone wrong - and downloaded to my phone wallet...but no barcodes there - but don't want to rely on that since I know signal is often patchy in arenas. And of course it's Ticketmaster, so no analogue option.

Thank you all with the train ticket advice! I will come from Manchester Airport to Sheffield, and I already have Omio.
See you there!

When are you traveling? I’ve booked the 1ish train on Monday from MAN, changing at Picadilly.
