2025 GPF Ice Dance Rhythm Dance -“Are you gonna slow my way?”

It wasn't a "fake" call - the rink in Helsinki isn't as wide as the ones in Angers or here, that's what made the difference in the opening choreo step.
I meant “fake” as in unintended, not fake as in false/wrong. Clearly, FB/C have addressed it by being farther from the Boards and, critically, skating diagonally instead of straight across the short axis.

Yes, I agree, they did address it and that's good. Diagonally moving across the ice instead of straight across the short axis is a suggestion I made after Finlandia and I noticed they stayed further away from the boards at the end of the opening choreo than they had at either GPdF or Finlandia so as to avoid any temptation for the panel to give them any sort of call.

This 120bpm requirement is making all of the skaters look like they're slogging through molasses. It would be nice if folks here could acknowledge that the only team that looked like they were truly moving fast today is ReedAmbru. Instead, people are disregarding this basic truth when it comes to the teams they prefer and emphasizing it when it comes to the teams they dislike.

Personally, while I don't like FBCiz's RD as much because I'm not a Madonna fan, I can respect that they do decently with the vogue-ing. I also really like the little dance break in the midline from ChoBat - it's very authentic to the '90s and the rest of the program works for their music choice. And the judges really love their choreo step seq - nearly half a point higher than FBCiz, plus they close on their strongest element - that lift is phenomenal.

And this is part of why I think they're still in a great position to win the Olympics. If they grab a lead in the RD, their FD has a powerful ending that will bring the audience to its feet, whereas FBCiz's FD is quieter and will leave the door open for one that has a stronger musical & choreographic punch at the end.

No clue. I’m not sure if that’s referring to the spacing but the protocol itself says “illegal element” rather than just level drops.

Whoops this is supposed to quote Tak

Curious if there will be the same outrage at the tech panel calling things that other tech panels did not call, or whether nobody really cares as long as their favored team isn't affected. Betting on the second  and there won't be media outrage or calls for an investigation into the judging.

I think it's lousy that no one (including USFS monitors) told Z/K that move was illegal until now. But Z/K aren't contending for an Oly medal, aren't a big name, so they aren't likely to pitch a fit, just go back to the rink and rework that part of the program.
Especially since the TC at BOTH of their GPs is a member of the IDTC (David Molina FRA at CoC & Shawn Rettstatt USA at Finlandia).

Well I AM pissed on behalf of Z/K, that is not new choreo in the opening transition.

Well as someone who was quite vocal during Finlandia I am just here to let you and anyone else know I am not watching the GPF. Taking a break. Just breezing through here to see the results :D

But if you want to know if I think it's good that we got a panel also reviewing what Z/K are doing this week and not just the others. Then sure, pleased as punch :D

Lest anyone accuse me of being a FB/C uber due to complaining about stupid choreo step calls: I can't get too incensed about C/B winning the RD. For me, there's really not that much in it. Sure, FB/C are better skaters, but I don't think they demonstrate it much in this dance, with all the in-place posing, and their lift is nothing special. Their twizzles also didn't look much faster, though that might be TV-effect.

The FD is a whole different animal, and if FB/C don't win that by a million points, I'll join you with my pitchfork outside the castle.

Catching up on the dance, I would have Beaudry and Cizeron in first place followed by Chock and Bates. The rest seem fair, although I think Piper and Paul should be a few points closer to Chock and Bates. The fact though that Chock and Bates got a big standing ovation - means it’s obviously better live? Interesting and I agree podium for Olympics likely the top three here but I can see a reversal in first and second after the next skate if all area clean.

Evan definitely checked the second set of turns but the twizzles are getting even worse. I don't care if they achieve level 4. The GOE is insane. They DO. NOT. MOVE.
Hyperbolic statements like They DO. NOT. MOVE. when they clearly are moving is bizarre. Is it too much to ask to add they do not move as much as other teams, as much as I expect for that GOE, I mean anything really.

A plea to anyone who has an inside line to Piper and Paul. For the love of god please bring some colour and a new design concept for 2026.

I see from photos they are still wearing the white costumes and from a few comments really seem to think they are THE right costumes for this RD. They just aren't. The white, for one, just washes you both out that you fade into the ice. Google colour psychology and pick a more energetic vibrant colour to really do your RD justice. I just don't get this choice, especially from someone ( Piper ) who has a very unique style that isn't afraid of colour that actually works for her. Someone said it's from some Ru Paul video but if that is the case it's too specific a reference that it is just not landing with those of us who don't get the reference. You are more than likely going to be skating back to back with F/G in 2026 so trust me, you need to pivot.
