Skate America Free Dance -Chock and Awful

F/F created a mood, but I can’t say I viewed it as ancoheaive dance, it felt more like a collection of elements (which I could say about MANY ijs programs). Glad that skated well today.

They appeared to be building a strong performance right until the final moments of the program. This program continues to be a struggle for them to skate it cleanly. As with in their last Grand Prix event the fall happens on movement where Daniel is dragging Katerina across the ice.

He really needs another sleeve. That bare arm is very distracting.

She has two phrases she uses throughout the entire competition for every skaters. “ get loud “ and “give it up for”.

If you’re there in person, it’s incredibly annoying

In Boston, I had my airpods on noise cancelling when they were not competing. Didn’t have to hear her at all!

I very rarely comment on costumes but I didn't really like Celina and Jean-Hans' today. Not a fan of his top at all and whatever she had pulled down over her skating boots was a miss for me. As for the skating, it was okay.

The people seeming to do the Netflix documentary on IAM are in the seats right in front of me recording Alicia and Paul.

I’ve come to like this program over the week because they are SO GOOD but the judges and their coaches hate them.

I feel Alicia and Paul haven't found their own style, this program is pretty generic and

I think they got a lot of potential, but this isn't helping

Fabri and Ayer hit some nice positions together - really lovely lines. He handles her softly, you see that they’re an equal pair and you can see her strength. It’s too rare in dance, and a shame.
They’re leaving the light on!

See, now, I was thinking it was choreographed by someone who wasn't paid enough to bother with anything creative or innovative.

Fabbri/Ayer's FD is better than the RD, but despite their skills the music and choreography isn't lifting them up in any interesting way. A few nice moments, like the opening rotational spin and one foot sequence, but as a whole doesn't come fully together as a whole.

I’d like to see F/A try something outside of this generic soft/angsty style they seem stuck in. They are talented, but so far not memorable.
