I don’t recall that many Prokofiev R&J free dances (only one that I remember at the moment is Annisina), and Z/K’s choreo is really fresh, so their choice doesn’t feel stale to me.

Yoshida/Morita did it last season but with different cuts/focus and they went the more traditional route.

I do think Z/K’s has a very different vibe.

Am I the only one amused that Scott Moir gave the CarPoms' music that Davis & White used to beat Virtue & Moir?

Not the first time they stumble in an Olympic season. Their Elton John RD failed to live up to expectations and then their FD wasn't as strong thematically as their two FDs that preceded it. One of which of course was Vincent :lol:

Having said that expectations are low for this one so maybe it will work out for them :D

I really wanted to see something new and special from them in their final/Olympic season, but I understand that this FD is special for them and for many fans. Many would probably love to see it at the Olympics even without any changes. But I am glad that they have apparently made a new version of it.

See above. This FD is special for them and many fans, so obviously that's why they wanted to finish their competitive career with it. A chance to show it to a wider audience at the Olympics was probably also a factor.
 
I'm going to hold my judgement on Vincent until we see it. It was a brilliant program and if they rework it the right way, it could be stunning. At the very least, it clearly means something to them which means the performance has the potential to be captivating. Of course, it could also fall totally flat, but I choose to be hopeful.
 
I get the temptation to bring this program back. And I think it’s what they wanted to do in 2022, but didn’t commit to it fully. Instead they ended up skating to similar music with a lesser program.

I’m just surprised they are trying it again now. On the plus side it’s been long enough that it could feel fresh. But on the minus side, it is a tall order to recapture magic like that.

I’m kind of surprised that it isn’t Evita if they were going to bring something back though. That program didn’t get its moment after their season got derailed.

I guess we’ll see how it looks. It is my favorite of their programs I think, but a long time has passed between now and then.

If they use the actual soundtrack from the movie and put a bit of the angst they showed in Wurthering Heights it could work. It has to be truly reimagined to show their growth and improvements in the last 5 years. I don't believe that can be done with the music edit and artist they used in 2019. Has to be a completely different and more mature music edit.
 
Like others I’m not thrilled with the Vincent reimagined from G/P. However, I definitely think that they can surprise us. It was such a fabulous program and IMO was the beginning of their massive growth spurt as ice dancers.
It was the beginning of people not counting them out and continually bashing Piper’s skating skills.
We will see. But honestly so far, no one’s program announcements are wowing or surprising anyone, except for Fear and Gibson.
Anyway I’m looking forward to seeing all the top teams compete.

I can’t disagree, but honestly I don’t think it would matter what they did.
The emergence of FB/C, the home team advantage of the Italians and the gauntlet being thrown by Fear and Gibson, the scoring gap that’s been prevalent with Chock and Bates to name a few things.
I honestly expect a 4th or 5th place finish at the Olympics.
I think they stand a chance of a world title if those teams opt out of worlds which I expect with the Americans, French and the Italians if they all podium.
Fear and Gibson would likely be the only team to head to worlds out of the top 5. IMO.
