Skate to Milano OWG Qualifier - Beijing CHN - Men's SP & FS

I am doing cartwheels and back flips in my mind (hey, I'm old) in reaction to the fab performances of Brain, Carrillo, both of whom delivered standout performances! Someone PLEASE hire Brain for skating shows, I would pay to watch him perform. Can we have 6 spots, instead of only 5? Great top 6!

In case it hasn’t been shared here, Kyrylo Marsak posted to his Instagram stories that someone ripped his toy bag after the SP and stole all the toys that were thrown on the ice for him. Apparently, they were in a dressing room that only skaters have access to.

Really disturbing behaviour from someone. I hope the incident is looked into. :(

That was a stunning performance.

I have always been a fan of Petr. He was just a boy When I saw him at JGPF in 2019. He struggled during his growth years but he looked very strong in this performance. I am impressed and happy.

Petr GUMENNIK’s planned elements for FS:
4F, 4Lz, 4Lo, 4S+3T,4S+2A+2A,3A,3Lz+3Lo

Not sure if he will try these today (he will not need them), but these are what he probably aims to do in Milano.

After what happened to Marsak, I really hope he delivers an out of the world free skate today. He just posted an update saying he's clarifying that he doesn't think it was a neutral athlete that did it, but still. Disgusting behavior from whoever did in this small skating circle.

There are other Russian men in the competition who didn’t have to pass the neutrality test, since they are representing federations that haven't been banned.

Was impressed with David in the short, using his own music. Obviously out of his league but the choreography is quite decent. Beat Schumperli is someone more skaters should be going to IMO. His short for Zlatkov last year was 👌

Looks like nerves got to David, and then he lost the timing in the 2nd half of the program, and started popping his jumps.

Question is how much cooking of the scores are we gonna see after the shenanigans that went down in the free dance :sekret: :judge:

how much cooking needs to be done though? There is no Chinese man, Gummenik should easily win. I don't think they'll mess with much here.
No Chinese men, but let’s see if they try to pull anything with the Russians from non-banned countries :sekret:

Looks like Martinez started competing this season, and he's 21. Interesting.

One of his choreographers was on the message boards with me ~25 years ago also as a very young person who had a love for skating. So happy to see where that career has expanded to!

The triple Lutz is a good jump for Dillon, and has some nice height on it.

Dillon’s standing up on his jumps but his only choreography is crossovers 😂 That step sequence was lacking even by novice standards
