#Truth but in the meantime, we have these awards to gloss over, and by the way, look at Canada hogging up all the oxygen in the choreographer category lol
These awards are a joke. The choreographer best women's SP of the season wasn't even nominated and that's a darn shame since Sandra Bezic is one of the best in the business.
2024 does have the category of Lifetime Achievement Award, and the recipient will be announced during the live ceremony.
(I realize that you were joking about the person named in your post. Just sayin' that the category continues to exist.)
For anyone who cares: On Jan 17, the ISU announced the short list of "nominees" -- the result of whittling down after the voting for the "candidates" (not "nominees") on the long list.
Three nominees were announced per category (except for Lifetime Achievement Award and Special Achievement Award).
I am another who voted for Amber's program, and I am sorry that she did not make the cut for nominees for Most Entertaining Program.
After a rigorous initial online selection phase held from December 11th 2023 to January 7th 2024, where the public and media actively participated in voting for their preferred candidates (view the complete list here), the 2024 ISU Skating Awards Selection Commission meticulously reviewed the...

ETA:
Of course it is fine for any individual fans to disagree with (or to not care about) the ISU vision and procedures for the awards.
But it's not as if ISU never explained its vision and procedures. Storing more links here, so they are handy for my own future reference:
The ISU Skating Awards is an annual awards ceremony organized by the International Skating Union (ISU) to recognize outstanding achievements in Figure Skating.
These awards are a joke. The choreographer best women's SP of the season wasn't even nominated and that's a darn shame since Sandra Bezic is one of the best in the business.
The long list was narrowed down to three nominees per category, which I was not aware of. And then here is who votes on the winner…
The winners in each category will be decided through a vote by the 2024 ISU Skating Awards star-studded Jury, made up of six former Figure Skating Champions:
Miki Ando (JPN)
Brian Boitano USA)
Surya Bonaly (FRA)
Lu Chen (CHN)
Laura Lepisto (FIN)
Andrew Poje (CAN)
The winners announcement and Awards-giving ceremony will take place on February 11th2024 in Zurich (SUI) during a special show held in collaboration with Art on Ice. The ISU Skating Awards will be staged live in front of an audience and simultaneously broadcasted on the Skating ISU YouTube channel.
The celebrities Kurt Browning – Figure Skating legend – and Elma Smit – Sports Reporter and TV Presenter – will form a unique duo to host this year’s show, promising to provide viewers with exclusive insights interviews and backstage content of the 2024 ISU Skating Awards Nominees.

No "in the meantime" here. The ISU created a mess of its own doing, and I for one am not falling for their "don't look there! look over here!" distractions.
The awards were a mess - hard to understand, with fewer nominees than published. The show portions were excellent, exciting group of solo & corps skaters. Happy for Orser’s lifetime achievement award. Enjoyed every minute of emcee Kurt Browning’s participation.
I see the general skating fandom is, of course, up in arms about the selections of six people from the skating world-- at least one of whom isn't really involved in the sport anymore AFAIK.
It's a stupid premise and always has been, all the way down to throwing out all fan votes once the nominees are narrowed down (even if Hanyu would likely win every category, even best coach and choreographer, if they weren't). But I'm sure some of the younger skaters enjoy the recognition and are 'just happy to be nominated' anyways
