Disaster for Blakeley on beam. She came off on a back tuck that she was so close to saving, then underrotated her double pike dismount onto her forehead. (She's seems fine)

For three of those tumbling runs, I was thinking, where the heck did those stuck landings come from for Wong? She was short and took a step on that double pike but not a disaster by any means on that one.

Also, as much as I appreciate these full streams for all the apparatuses, I hate how they just use the music track for the FX stream. It kind of takes you out of the live atmosphere of the arena.

Wong is proving she is a great table setter for sure! Roberson looked so nervous in her World's debut. I htink she shares taste in music with the arena crew. They should hit the Antwerp discos after the event.

Roberson was put in FX for her stuck landings and being solid on her elements even if she’s lacking in dance and flexibility, and she was looking good in practice here, but it seems Wong took Roberson’s stuck landings and I think she put her hands down on that double wolf turn… either way, that turn looked out-of-control. First Worlds though.

Wong seems great for what I call the “Jaycee Phelps” role. I know there’s been other gymnasts who’ve filled that same lead off role in the various American teams before and since (even with 6/5/4-3-3 team finals kind of destroying that role) but I can’t think of anybody else who was just perfect as the lead gymnast.

Also, the scores on FX here haven’t been far off to the World Team Selection Camp scores.

I think they stick with their plan, Blakely needs the confidence and experience as she's likely going to be on the Olympic team next year. She made beam finals last year, she can hit.

Roberson scored really well considering she was even better in practice. I wonder if she could have hit 13.900-14.000 with those stuck landings and more controlled wolf turn that she had in practice.

That would be my instinct both for what they will do and for what I think is the best choice? In the current era, I feel like they haven't let a miss in quals keep someone out of team finals who is usually strong.

The other thing about her, she is a solid AA gymnast. We really need a third qualifier just in case, and I don't know who else we have you would put up on all 4 in Qs.

Leanne has been doing 2 for a little bit! She did very well on vault at Champs and Trials.

When Jordan is on, I think she could take this spot from Leanne, but she had a rough year.

I mean she's competed internationally a few times already. For reference she got a 7.8 on floor at the Cairo World cup. And her vault only had a final score of 0.2 higher than Jones, with a 0.6 D score edge. So not much of an advantage really. If Jade is in better form next year she has a much better chance at the team if they are looking for a vault specialist and/or a second vault medal.

I’m just talking about the team selection for this Worlds. It seemed those who really didn’t want Roberson on the team made it sound like she was going to be super hammered as if she didn’t belong on international competition. And whether or not she scored much higher than Jones on vault, she still did and her FX score here was very useful. I’m not saying she’d be the best athlete to put on the team if “everybody” is healthy and at their prime to hit, but that never happens.
