Fascinating that Stopwatch Babs would make this mistake.
The urge to use covers is just so strong with figure skaters. It cannot be repressed.

if the isu hates it so much they immediately stop listening then they'll never take a music deduction it's geniusThe Glee version of Holding Out for a Hero is truly terrible and I watched and loved(mostly) Glee.
I don’t understand why they would choose any cover, or why they need two versions at all. The original song is over 5 minutes, plenty of time for cuts.Guignard / Fabbri's RD music: (from ISU App)
From ISU Communication 2560:
I see a music violation deduction coming...
Marie-France obviously lurks.I've been wondering, does IAM have any junior teams at all this year aside from Scott's two young Canadian teams? I know they just had a couple of junior teams move up this season, but they don't seem in a hurry yet to add more. Seems odd to see so many of their teams dominating the senior scene, while all these strong junior teams are coming up from other coaching centers.
See my first thought was the cover from the fairy godmother in Shrek 2Unfortunately Guignard/Fabbri - whom I love! - probably aren't drawing inspiration from this iconic lip sync which is a massive missed opportunity.
The song choices themselves are good but I just don't know how well the covers will work or how it will go over, and that makes me nervous.

Or, more recently...See my first thought was the cover from the fairy godmother in Shrek 2
Oh, man, my kingdom for an RD with Easy Lover and Sussudio.Guignard/Fabbri‘S RD choice is perplexing. Why not just do an all Phil Collin’s RD? With Against All Odds, they could use In the Air Tonight, Sussudio, and/or Easy Lover.
Ugh I remember that. It was a bizarre decision and I never liked Ann Reinking as a singer or actress.Somebody should contact Charlene and Marco on their social media accounts and notify them of the language of the rule and the deductions that could incur. Better to fix the issue now than maybe get away with it at a Challenger or even one or both GP events only to face a needless deduction later at the GPF, Euros, or Worlds as word could build up about this possible deduction for it to be used strategically.
There's a version of "Against All Odds" that is appropriately 80s, but I hope to skate gods they don't discover it or even hear it, ever. For some reason, the producers had Anne Reinking perform the song at the Academy Awards instead of Phil Collins and well... YouTube can be such a double-edged sword for performers:

Yeah... It's kind of strange, IMO, since ACI is in Montreal too, so this should have been an easy comp for both of them.Well, Reed & Ambrulevicius were also signed up there & pulled out too so the the top 2 ranked teams are both out.
This is really weird, and they post videos of practice and off-ice, so it doesn't seem there's any kind of injury involved.I mentioned this in the Challenger thread, but also... Where are Team KoKo? They only have NHK on the GP, so you'd think they'd have done at least one of these September Challengers.
This FD looks excellent.Green and Parson's FD Part I in practice. When I first heard the music upon announcement, I was unsure that I liked it. But watching this, i like its insistent beat and their choreography. Also love her minimalistic costuming:
Looked for it. Where?Thank you so much, @sk9tingfan -- part 2 is now in the replies.
I get that. Maybe one can look at it as something else. There's a broad spectrum in-between total innovation and classic. It's also early in the season, and of course, at this stage, the teams should be building up the levels and getting comfortable enough so they can focus on performance and hitting the choreo with meaning. Not sure about G&P FD. It is not modern enough for me nto innovative enough and not classics. I am a bit confused as to what it is and how to think about it.
the movement, construction and choreography are fresh and wonderful. i really like the program itself. i still feel like the skaters need so much more power and smoothness, though their overall quality is very good. it is early in the season, so i anticipate improvements in those areas. This FD looks excellent.
