Oh, I do agree that we need more RD programs that are a cohesive whole; but I figure some of the teams with the most money & most developed styles have yet to go.

As far as RDs that feel like they have a unifying concept (and not an overused one like all the Michael Jackson numbers), Robinson & Portz, The Peals, & Lanaghan & Razgulajevs's numbers come to mind.

I am 🤷‍♀️ at what a waste Simova & Aksenov made of Ghostbusters. I mean if you're going to use it, use it. Otherwise, you might as well skate to a generic pop song.

And here I am watching the RDs in every event for pure pleasure & then having to convince myself that it's worth plowing through the war horses in the FDs;).
I'm so glad! I want to love them so much. I am enjoying the music!

I mean there was like one original choice of music for skating in the entire RD at U.S. Nationals last year:slinkaway. I'm going to enjoy this season while it lasts.

That's it. With this approach, some dance teams could use last year's Conga programs. Why not, after all, the song was released in 1985.

I really am not liking the 80's themes. Very few have the real edge to pull it off. For the most part I've been cringing. I must say I liked Olivia Smart and Partner and I think I liked Davis/Smolkin, but the last minute is anticlimatic.

I've not been liking the music choices at all. The combination of songs just don't make sense. Looking forward to the rest of the IAM school offerings maybe somebody, anybody will stand out. I saw two little Junior Russian Ice dancers maybe 13 and 14 doing simething robotic in blue and silver costumes and I was smitten. I just keep looking and hoping to be won over, but as of right now, I'm not buying it at all...hopefully good stuff is just around the corner.

Update:
Started watching Lombardia.

Well, please don't stone me but I saw three things here,

1. Luka Lanotte is a good coach. He needs a strong team. The brother sister team from CZE could use him if they don't go to the IAM team soon.

2. The CZE team, I could watch them non stop. They need some polish and choreo for the first 2/3's of that program, but I couldn't stop watching them over and over. They need a coaching team that can polish their SKILLS.

3..Sommerville needs a partner. No offence to the one he's got...He's like Scott and Guillame rolled into 1 and he's just a kid. Wow. But that CZE team is so well matched, gives me goosebumps..

Hmm...

Honorable mention:
Georgian team of Maria Kazakova and partner...the polish is clear and present. Intrigued to see their FD.

There are THREE brother-sister teams from CZE - two were competing here (Taschlers and Mrazeks) - which one are you referring to?

I hope that the Mrazeks don't have to switch to IAM to be successful. And I hope that one day people are going to stop wanting every talented young team to go there. Coaches like Zanni or Arribert are never going to find any major success if every team they bring up from Juniors to Seniors will leave them.

The judges, seem locked in, for lack of a better term, but Luca Lanotte seems quite competent as well. I think their current team has done the best they can with them. Looking forward to the FD.

Mrazeks...ooops. What's the other pair though?
The Taschlers - https://youtu.be/iunND-F7CeQ?si=_PWcy1vwZXJcIAMZ .

Perhaps you just didn't know that they were competing at the Lombardia Trophy, but, in case if you hadn't noticed them before, I assume that you didn't watch last years Europeans and Worlds ice dance competitions or watched just select videos. Taschlerova/Taschler placed fifth and eighth there. Also, this is their third senior season. And they have the same skills as the Mrazeks - that is, skating skills, namely speed - but are a bit more polished and perform more (or, rather, Natalie Taschlerova performs more).

So to clarify the question so everyone can get past the Mrazeks and the Taschlers (!) who is the 3rd team from CZE?

Joubert got a music deduction at the 2008 World Championships in the short program.
To be clear, if they really do somehow string them along till worlds before giving them that deduction, then it will be obviously political and a failure of the judging system - not a failure from Guignard/Fabbri.

The judges really did have every opportunity to mark them down here, if anything it should be looked at as a disservice to them on a home field if they get marked down at worlds.

Why I as a homer Canadian care about a Canadian coach supporting an American team? Unless you’re saying this will help the Danadians in some way.

If the possibility of evil Canadians scares the Italians to follow the rules, they have time to change their program.

Anyways, didn’t V&M have to change their FD lift in 2010 weeks before the Olympics…in Canada?

How to watch Lombardia ?

It is possible that it could be a failure on both.
If the message they keep receiving until the FINAL competition of the season is that there's nothing wrong with they're doing - then that's not their problem, it's the judges'. Why can't they judge properly? It doesn't fall on the teams to properly interpret the rules every time, but it definitely does when it comes to the judges. I hardly believe it's some deliberate choice from them to flout the rules in this case - if it's a mistake, then it better be caught by the people who are supposed to catch it.

The appearance of a conflict can be as damaging as a real one; doesn’t matter if it’s rational. I don’t think it’s a matter of Nationalism or evil Canada (and hometown political sway - if we choose to believe it exit is - in this case crosses borders), just that it will be easy for a narrative to be written by the Italians if the cards fall that way.

A rule is a rule, and it doesn’t matter much to me if it gets enforced immediately or late. I just think it would be less than ideal for it to only be enforced at the end for all parties involved (and really, no one wants to win or lose “due to” such a thing).

The “decider” of an invalid element is a different entity than a music violation. Regardless, V&M’s choice to take the conservative advice on the lift was a disservice to that program, but possibly correct given the outcome. Guignard/Fabbri changing would be best artistically and technically speaking. 😉

The Taschlers - https://youtu.be/iunND-F7CeQ?si=_PWcy1vwZXJcIAMZ .

Completely missed them. I've seen the talk and watched few snippets but never got hooked.

I was hooked by the other team's tango RD last year and taken aback by their style since then. No slight intended to their fans.

Some other FDs
Taschlers (looking very tired at the end) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-oM0KvuNwQ
Kazakova/Reviya https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSwXh9S_NgQ
Bratti/Sommerville https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPsB3Ie8rT0
Mrazeks' Swan Lake https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U305P6IGi7M
Green/Parsons https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5Wik71sJ9E
Manni/Roethlisberger https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6paxFD1Z4o
Dozzi/Papetti https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJtaibbzp1E

In different ways, the top 5 will come home with some positive notes and some work to do.
On the other hand, Green/Parsons will be the most disappointed ones out there.

Down the ranking, for Italy #2, Manni/Roethlisberger won the first outing against Dozzi/Papetti. However, D/P were better than at Lake Placid and finished within a decent distance to build a season on.
Nice seasonal debut for Matthei/Liebers.
The Slovakian head to head ended what I would have expected based on last season and not based on the recent test skates.
