The Heir, The Spare and the “Baby Brain” -The Prince Harry and Meghan show rumbles on…

I took it at face value it was a mistake and then I heard someone opine today that it might have been intentional as now it's all anyone is talking which should help boost sales. In what was a short time ago considered an odd time to release a book (post Christmas sales) might turn out to be a geniu$ move for them.
I think it was intentional in order to stave off negative media stories (by BP or others) of Meghan and Harry by the British tabloids leading up to the release of the book like what happened with the Oprah interview and Netflix documentary.

Yep. Genius move.

And its a perfect birthday present to Kate :slinkaway

Maybe because King Charles ensured his coronation is the same day as Archie’s birthday ensuring H & M would have to choose which event to attend?

I’m speculating.

I have no idea but it wouldn’t surprise me if this is all a “one- up” game.

Surely. After all, a coronation is such a small thing that the king could choose any day. Not like a book release.

By the way, Megxit was announced on January 8.

Just a coincidence. Again.

I don’t believe any of it is a coincidence.

The dates of the coronation, the book release, or Megxit.

And yes, if you are King I’m sure you could decide to not have your coronation on your grandkid’s birthday.

Well Maybe the King arranged it so that hopefully they would have to bring Archie to the UK and he could see him. Just a thought.

We have 8 dozen copies of Spare in stock now. Every other phone call today is a request for holds. This better be just the initial first push, because we are going to fly thru these in no time, and we are just a little hick store in a little hick mall in a little hick town.

Have you snuck one out to read over the weekend? ;)

Do you really think that the event, where there will be representatives of authorities from almost all over the world, should depend on the birthday of a grandson who is not even 5 years old?
This is an event of national importance and he is first of all a king.

Audible has been advertising it as a "best seller" for at least a month based on pre-orders. It is read by Harry himself. Personally, I would rather spend my credit on the new book by Michelle Obama. Anything interesting from Harry will be leaked and discussed ad nauseam.

Really sounds like Harry has opened a can of worms over his military service. For someone with genuine concerns about the safety and security of his family, his revelations seem very poorly advised. I have read something to the affect that they did not want to escape the media - just control the narrative - but this all just seems to guarantee more cameras flashing and less freedom to live their lives. I thought Megan said she wanted the freedom to take her children to school??
Spelling Meghan's name correctly and reviewing posts to make sure that software don't autocorrect it to the wrong spelling shouldn't be that difficult (and you aren't the only one whose posts contain the incorrect spelling, but I noticed 2 consecutive posts of yours that did contain the incorrect spelling, so citing the latter one as an example).

One would think that dealing with varied spellings of that name on this board (including that of a Canadian skater) would heighten alertness to those varied preferred spellings.

I’m not saying it should depend on it.

I’m saying I don’t think it was a coincidence it was planned for that day and that day and Charles could have said “No I’m not doing it then.”

There are 365 days in a year but it HAS to be Archie’s birthday.

Not buying it. Sorry…

Well, yes. The whole world revolves around Meghan, Harry and their children

Not the whole world. But sure seems like BP spends too much time thinking about H&M.

It makes no sense for BP to hold the Coronation on Archie’s birthday in light of all the animosity in the family.

It looks either dumb or petty (depending on if it was intentional or not) and will invoke negative stories.

There are soooo many versions of the name Meghan that the last thing I would do is call someone up for making an honest mistake: Meaghan, Maegan, , Maeghan, Meggan, Meghann, Maygan, Megyn, Megann, Maegen, Meeghan, Meegan, Magen, Magan. In the case of this one or the Canadian skater I think any of the bolded could be an honest mistake. My daughter had three very close friends with various versions of this name and I just flat out have dyslexia when it comes to this name.

Well the Kings team said it was a happy coincidence. as in

maybe he is hoping given it’s Archie’s birthday Meghan and Harry will bring him and Lili to the UK instead of leaving then like they did for the Queens funeral.

It’s not necessarily a slight after all of Archie’s birthday is in California it’s not like the King and Queen can go.

Besides it’s not either or the coronation is is not all 24 hours of the day. They can still celebrate in the morning and evening with him and give presents he will be four.

They are more likely to see Archie now. So maybe it is planned but it may not be malice and more hey great opportunity to make it more likely my Grandkid comes in town

Sue me, I'm a spelling stickler - and the preferred name for the person in question is part of the title of the thread, as well as in other posts in the thread.

I really think you are reaching with this one, to think that the planning of a coronation and all that entails, was picked to spite the parents of a 4 year olds birthday is

Once again, this date was approved by the king, not grandfather. This is not a family party.
It even seems strange to me that this needs to be explained.

I don’t see it as a stretch as all.

I can see it as “the earliest we can do this is May.” “How about May 6th?”

This family has shown us over and over again that they eat their own and like to give cheap shots.

It’s easy to believe that this is just more of the same.

The King is also the grandfather.

By approving that date he’s dumber or meaner than I thought he was.

Omg, of course not! They will stay sealed in their boxes until release day. There are pretty hefty fines for unsealing a book like this. When the other Harry was all the rage, we had to keep those boxes sealed until midnight. At least we got to have fun parties and dress up for those occasions - there are no such plans for this release.

I understand that no one works either on their birthdays or on the birthdays of their parents, children or grandchildren
Of course, other important people around the world also have all the dates free. But no, the king specifically chose the birthday of a little boy.

To force Harry and Meghan to choose between staying with their son or coming to the Coronation.

It’s not quite as simple as a grandparent working on a grandchild’s birthday.

It’s more like your parent who lives away choosing to remarry with an “adult only wedding” on your kid’s birthday.

This date is forcing Harry (in particular) to choose.

I hope Harry and Meghan don’t go.

Once again, this is not a family party. Being king is a JOB!
If the president of my country were to turn down an important meeting just because it coincided with his child's birthday, then I would consider impeachment.
The King cannot choose any date in the year. It's not solved that way.

That's it, I will no longer write on this topic.

Oh FFS. Archie is going to be four. He has, at best, a tenuous grasp on dates. They can bring the kids to the UK and have a smaller birthday there, and then a party when they get home.

How many kids have birthday parties on dates other than the one in which they were born? How many don't get to have their parents around on their big day because the parents have other commitments?

Seriously, not everything is about Harry and Meghan.

It doesn’t matter what day the birthday party is on.

Parents want to be with their children on their birthdays. They just do.

All I’m saying is Charles could have picked another day.

What would they do if Charles said he wasn’t going to do the Coronation on May 6th?

Not let him be King?
