Posted on city's FB (Austin Landing is a big entertainment/eating/shopping/condo area south of town). Can you imagine in this current climate?
"I am here to complain.. a very big complaint too. If you were at the fireworks last night, I hope you enjoyed them. For everyone else inside the movie theater who thought we were going to die.. I am very sorry. Last night was one of the scariest moments of my life.. and apparently Austin Landing doesn’t believe you can hear fireworks inside the theater…
Let me explain
I’m sitting watching a movie.. and next thing I hear is POW… POW… POW.. we all realize it’s not the movie. Everyone gets up, looks around and we start running.. I’ve never been so scared in my life thinking I was one room away from a sh00ter.. it induced SO MUCH PANIC. people left their shoes, and everything.. my husband went to complain because.. What a scary situation at first without knowing what it was, and even the manager said he came running out of his office cause he was concerned and was given NO WARNING that there would be fireworks.. He said they don’t tell anyone they’re doing them, and he had no idea and he was also very frustrated because he saw what it did to the people.. I mean who’s to say there isn’t a veteran in there? Or the simple fact it scared us ALL. Very upset with you Austin Landing. DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS, AND CARE ABOUT THE PEOPLE. HECK EVEN A WARNING WOULD BE NICE."
Comment - "I would’ve reacted the same except I carry every where I go. What would they have done if someone whipped out theirs? Someone needs to b held accountable for not notifying people of this stuff. U can’t just make a flier or post on FB and expect ppl to see it"
That could have been a disaster. People could have been trampled or had a heart attack. Or shot toward the doorway in the dark and hit innocent people.
p.s. the man who shot and killed 4 people in Vandalia (north of Dayton) yesterday has not been caught. And Thursday was the 3rd anniversary of the mass shooting in the Oregon District (another entertainment district) where 9 people were killed. Who wouldn't be on edge?
