Russian Cup series & other domestic events (2021-22)

Kudriavtseva/Spiridonov ahead of (clean) Pepeleva/Pleshkov and A/K :respec:
Awesome. I absolutely enjoyed that. Never thought the judges would put them ahead :respec:

I was just wondering the other day if Kudriavtseva/Spiridonov were even still a pair or competing at all! :D

Is there any place to find videos from these russian cup events??

Pavliuchenko/Khodykin Be Italian SP :cheer: Love everything about it, the crazy twist exit  , all the jumpy tricks and transitions, his head bobbing in the death spiral... perfection! :respec: Will need more mileage to become smoother but great start!
Here's their 1st place SP video (73.21):

They split up during last season for a short while, he tried with Pavlova and she tried with Zaporozhets, but nothing came out of that and then they got back together.

She is a bit too tall for him. He is only 179cm, so there may be a chance to find her a taller partner. Someone like Volodin (186 cm)? Kargulina/Kalashnikov and Raskovalova/Butaev split up. I wonder if Kalashnikov or Butaev would be tall enough for Kudriavtseva?

Or it is quite possible there will be soon Kolesov and Briukhanov available, because their JGP season have been a bit of a disaster and my guess would be that they may split up. Poor Briukhanov changed one non jumping partner for another non jumping partner. At least Kudriavtseva usually jumps side by side jumps. But she often messes up throws.

There is also Bakhmat. Last season he skated with Safina, but she left him to skate with Luka Berulava for Georgia. He is supposed to be skating with Sobinina this season, but I heard something about Sobinina being injured… if this partnership doesn’t work out, I think Bakhmat could be tall enough for Kudriavtseva.

ITA on the twist exit!! Who choreographed this?

But :blah: to who ever was moving in on her in the kiss and cry.
They should call it the 'keep your hands to yourself' area in honor of his oilyness.

I'm so happy to see them back on the ice. This is my favorite pair SP of the season. Some polishing to do by December, but they'll get there. I couldn't help but think how I'd have loved to have seen Vale Marchei skate to this her last season in pairs. This exact choreography.

So many Russian pair teams. I hope some of those who aren't going to be top 3 at nationals get challenger events so they can skate outside of Russia. These skaters are too good to not get to do more than be in a fight just to get to Nationals.

How can Zhulin have such boring ideas for dance but knock it out of the park for this program?
I am not sure whether it is the choreographer or the skaters who make program interesting or not interesting. It seems that Pavliuschenko/Khodykin have such a spark that they can make a lot of programs stand out, whereas certain Zhulin’s dancer won’t be able to spart even if they skated to exactly the same program. It seems it is Pavliuschenko and Khodykin’s personalities that make the program. Sinitsina doesn’t have this spark.

Oh, those acrobatic moves are pure Popova. :respec:

Google translated excerpt from report published by the RusFed after the senior test skates:
- We changed the short program, made a new one to the soundtrack from the musical “Nine” to the song “Be Italian” performed by “Fergie”. This program is also staged in a dance style, but this is not a repetition of the previous one, but an attempt to present the Pavlyuchenko - Khodykin pair in a completely new quality. Many thanks to our choreographer Betina Popova, because it was her idea of choosing the music, and together with the guys they "sketched" the initial story, which we then all together corrected, refined and worked out. Together with our acrobat Yuri Tyukin, we changed almost all the acrobatic "tricks" with which last year's short Dasha and Denis were saturated. We tried to create images that the guys show on the ice, readable and understandable for both the judges and the audience.
In my opinion, this program will really reveal and show Dasha from a new side - she will appear more relaxed, even brighter. Dasha in this program will become a Muse for Denis, who plays the role of a creative person, an artist in the broadest sense of the word. I think the program will impress, - added Sergey Roslyakov.

Zhulin chorographed P/K's Black Swan FS that they aren't planning to skate tomorrow (listd as WD) here: https://fsrussia.ru/results/2122/2etap/CAT006RS.HTM

Let the musical chairs in pairs continue. LOL.

Thank you Pepeleva/Plehskov for skating that absolutely stunning FS clean at last one time!
I prayed for that to happen entire last season.
Wished they'd have stuck with the old costumes though.

It is not about musical chairs, but one need to be realistic. Some men are just too short for pairs. Mirzoev could not find another partner that was usable for him long term, and it seems it will be Ialin’s problem too…and Spiridonov’s problem too. Spiridonov struggled with lifts with Atakhanova, he struggles with Lifts with Kudriavtseva…

Saying that, I was really impressed that she landed all three throws. I don’t remember a competition where she would land all throws in both programs. Usually it would be lucky if she landed one. On the other hand, she doubled the side-by-side jump. She was always pretty reliable with side-by-side jumps, so what’s going on now? They could have one, but him messing up the lift and she doubling the jump…that’s a pity.

Seriously? They are too much like a copy of Zabijako/Enbert. Look pretty, elegant, nice lines but they are soooooo boooring! It wouldn’t hurt injecting some personality into their skating.

It was just a comment Made in jest. You didn't need to take it so seriously. I have been watching pairs since 1988 and I am familiar with the kind of problems they can run into. You don't need to lecture me about it.

I didn’t think you actually make jokes. Ever.
