MyKayla competes like the men-- the 'specialist' from the floor yesterday who they said was amazing was sup sloppy, but they say nothing about it. I think the bar for women is higher than for men.

Most of the contenders for the 4th spot and specialist spot seem really nervous with mistakes here and there, except Grace who has looked okay so far.

She’s still in all likelihood the best chance of an extra individual medal if she hits, so I think so.

Any other gymnast would have fallen off the bars after an error like that. Insane!

I'd prefer Riley but she fell If Grace finishes 4th AA and MyKayla 5th, I think Tom F. won't want to leave MyKayla home.

Does anyone else think Simone might be nursing a slight injury? Something about the way she picked her right foot up so quickly after the bars dismount made me wonder. Read some comments on twitter from warm ups where at least one person was reporting that she was wincing while getting her ankles taped. I have to think it can't be that serious or they wouldn't even risk her competing tonight, but makes me worried a bit.

So if when they are in Tokyo, someone gets injured, they would bring the 5th gymnast over to the team? They can't sub an alternate once the competition starts?

They'll be naming alternates for the women's team tonight so I don't think that's how it works. The individual people are their own spots and don't have anything to do with team IIRC.
