Not at all! Her mother is a housewife with 3 kids and her dad is a coach or something like that (https://24smi.org/celebrity/40625-aleksandra-trusova.html). She's from Ryazan', a regional city in Russia.

The Match TV documentary on Trusova that covered her switch to Plushenko’s academy said she was “born into a family of lawyers,” and that her father is also a master of sports in 3 types of martial arts. I just went back and checked. Check it out at 4:19 minutes in:

If Plushenko really spent that much on one student for 9 months of training, that’s ridiculous. I understand Kostornaia’s funding this season went to Sambo 70 because she changed coaches outside the transfer window, but there’s no way it costs over half a million US dollars per person per year to train and costume a figure skater. I like Plushenko, but if that figure is true, the joke is on him, and it certainly shows you can’t solve a problem just by throwing money at it.

Also, I thought Trusova’s dad and family are lawyers — surely they would be savvy enough not to take out dodgy business loans via a figure skating super star and his oligarch wife. The rumors on these fan boards and on TSL are super bizarre (although rather fun to read).

Maybe, regarding coaches, it just comes down to style. Some people are self-motivated, some aren’t. Many people, especially at the age of 16, 17, learn about themselves through trial and error. I think Alena had real guts to apologize and say where she’s at, and I think Eteri did the reasonable thing by giving her a chance to train at Sambo 70 again. I think it could have worked out with Plushenko too, but Alena might have been operating out of anxiety — both times she switched — and now she’s seen the grass on both sides and can be more realistic about what she wants. I’ll be interested how she does. Shame about those wasted Shae Lynn Bourne programmes, though. I thought the music was beautiful in both...
I hope Shae Lynn got paid! Sure the check is in the mail but you could take awhile to get from Moscow to Toronto. ;)

You make a pertinent point Ruby about how now aliona knows the grass is not necessarily greener on the other side.

Aliona was still technicly with Sambo 70 while she was at PA smiling more. But winning matters too and I think that's why she's back at TT.

Her catching coronavirus this season was just bad luck.

That injury occurred at Rostelcom. She skated fine at the channel 1 event. She'll be at worlds
She skated fine but heavily taped up, more so than at Rostelecom and RN. Also, we know the injury is still there based on the hints from her and Alexeev (one of her coaches). I don't have links, but I've read the interviews. Trusova doesn't like talking about it though.
I'm sure she'll be at worlds, I'm not doubting that, and I hope she can skate cleanly or at least do enough for her to feel proud of herself.

She (Trusova) is allegedly already hurt. I swear each competition I see more and more K-tape. I hope whatever is going on with her right leg gets taken care of during the off season. I hope she doesn't overdo it for worlds either.
I'll put money on it being a stress fracture - that level of torque on growing bones risks that as seen in other young skaters. Hope not though :(

She fell on a quad at Rostelcom and hurt her hip. She won't be attempting 4 different quads at worlds.

Good heavens I have not heard it take like that. The plushy needs to compensate sambo and why. Interesting and I like it.

I think it was a mistake for his wife to go public and the skating Lessing guys on YouTube say they spent about $560,000 on Alyona.
a) The Skating Lesson pod-cast (this and previous ones), as usual, had a lot of exaggerations and some bits of misinformation. I don't know anything about $560,000 debt, not one single Russian sports publication had printed such info, and THEY WOULD at a slightest opportunity to post such "juicy news".

b) The pricing of "services rendered" maybe very subjective......... How for example does one evaluate "Kostornaya using the cottages to sleep over-night"? Maybe Pluschenko thinks it is a 5***** accommodations and charges $ 750.00 per night? Maybe he thinks that his new rink in the wilderness is a high end structure with "all Luxury" included and charges $1000.00 per day of use?

I also found that odd that TSL would have financial information that the Russian media did not.

I think charging anything for the Cottages is ridiculous.

I would be interested to find out what the contract situation is with PA and Sasha.

The figure of half a million dollars US doesn't make any sense. She wasn't even there for a full season. How is it possible that they spent that much on her?

I also find it odd why TSL is lying about Eteri taking all the event's judges and technical staff to dinner for her birthday, when another source is informing that she took her daughter, Smolkin, Spielband and few close people to dinner.

I would start with figuring out why TSL posted this info, and where they got it. No russian publication is posting this.

Hopefully they were being tongue in cheek that she took the judges to dinner. If she did you know there would be pictures and you know it would have gotten out and again TSL has a story that no one in Russia does. Just like their speculation about how Kosto owes over half a million dollars to PA.

It's supposed to bring up the Google translation. This is the direct link to the Vaiieva interview in the Russian "Magazine about Ballet & People in Art": https://www.lapersonne.com/post/kamila-valieva-interview/
Thanks for the information. I am sure the problem was me.....usually is.

However, there is NO WAY that kid is 14. She speaks like a rather mature adult with at least 3 post graduate degrees in communication!

I saw some people speculating that maybe the editor polished things up a bit but even if that's the case (which it may not be) the thoughts would still be fundamentally hers.

Because STEM graduates are such good communicators :) SMH....

My recollection of being 15 in the States was that we had to hide our ability to speak to adults and our knowledge, love of books, etc, least we be outed as a 'weirdo.'

Maybe Kamila is just whimsical and poetic! She’s almost 15 after all, and I don’t see why these couldn’t be her own words.
I said that tongue in cheek. I thought she was amazingly articulate for ..well most of the population.
I would not have thought her whimsical .

Rudkovskaya about Kostornaya....... :-).

- And what about Kostornaya and her compensation/contract?

- We have lawyers who receive money for their work. I don’t want to discuss legal issues. We have a contract with Alena's mom. We treat Alena well - she impressed me very much. But it so happened that she decided to leave. I don't see anything wrong with that, it was just possible to do everything a little differently, but this is already the past. I still have an excellent relationship with Alena, the contract has not yet been terminated, we are in no hurry, and it does not bother us that legally she is still with us, but in fact she is already there. The Federation has not yet been notified either. Let him train. We wish her only well! Let her recover, train, perform. I have no questions for Alena Kostornaya, like my husband. We have remained good friends. And let them figure it out under the contract - both parties have an understanding. Nobody would have known about the contract with my mother if Daniil Markovich had not told the media about it. (?????!!!!)

Yana Rudkovskaya: “Kostornaya did not leave Plushenko, she left Rozanov. But no one is interested in writing about this".
(???!!!)

Meanwhile, in Florida, the state only wants to fund 4 year degrees for non-arts majors, and is moving to alter the state scholarship program to further gut the arts.
Out of curiosity, where in Florida do you live?

I've often wondered if youtube subtitles and whatnot change the Russian translation somewhat, cuz I always think in interviews that the girls don't speak the way I expect most kids talk. Maybe someone who can understand the original Russian interview can speak to how accurate the translation is, or if it got a little fancified.

I've found in my relatively limited experience that spoken Russian translated into English can frequently read/sound more 'heightened' or ornate.
