TSL made this point in one of their recent vids. Essentially, Danny G was SO into that footwork sequence and skated it with so much passion (and really well!), that it seems as if he's choreographing to his own strengths, and not the skaters he's choreographing for. Makes sense IMO.

Regardless, Kostornaia really deserves the chance to have someone (anyone) else choreograph some of her programs.

I think he finds it much easier to skate the step sequence than she does, considering that he has ice dance background and she doesn’t. Even though he didn’t compete that long in ice dance, he still spent a year or two working on the skills ice dancers have, so it would be natural that skating a new step sequence would be much easier for him than for Kostornaya. That’s not to say that Kostornaya doesn’t have decent skills doing all those complicated turns, but she never had the luxury of spending a year or two working just on steps like ice dancers do; a big chunk of her training time is used practising jumps.

And to add to that, this is his job. This is what he lives and breathes day in day out. Say what you will about the quality of his work, but Dani G is clearly dedicated, and knows the choreographies of his pupils inside and out. Kostornaia is just learning something that has life in Dani’s brain.

Valieva is still somewhat shy and was not comfortable with all the attention she received last season. “I don’t like that very much, but I know that it is there and I try to prepare for it,” she said with a sigh. At the same time, she is grateful for the support of her Russian fans, who fulfilled a long-time wish at the end of last year when they presented her with a puppy, a Pomeranian Spitz that she named Liova.
“My mother allowed me to get a dog after the Junior Grand Prix. My fan club wrote to her and asked what gift they should get and my mom said they could get a dog for me,” Valieva said. “He is funny. Always running around, constantly. When I leave he is whining and when I come back he is happy. Maybe I’ll take him with me to competitions in the future.”

She can stay in juniors, get over the puberty struggles with jumps, and at the same time has pretty good partner. With Yalin she would have to move to seniors at the time when she is going through her difficulties with body change, which is not good timing. I am curious who the coach will be. Coach Vasili Velikov recently confirmed that to me and also said that Akhanteva/Kolesov are skating together and have not split up. They have also another new pair in the group, Alina Solovieva is now skating with Elisei Ivanov. Vasili also said that Polina and Andrei and Alina and Elisei are looking promising.

Maybe they tried out, who knows. I didn't ask about that. Vasili was saying that Stasia Vislobokova is also in their group, but at this time she doesn't have a partner.
