Yes, congrats, but I'm in fear for next week with G/P :shuffle: This could be uncomfortably close.
I hope they can improve the GOE in their FD and take the avantage to skate at home. Well...it's Russia! I will pray and stay optimistic!;-)

Guess it's time to resume this thread :)

Congratulations with two wonderful performances at Europeans and a gold medal!
They for sure have come a long way since 2014 and prove most of us wrong :kickass:
Am so happy for Victoria in particular, it definitely wasn't an easy road for her.

People want to cry politics (I won't that deny politics always play a role regardless of country) but this is probably the first time this season in competition they have lived up to their world silver medal and performed like they were capable of. I think the judges were waiting for them to live up to it and were happy when they did. Not to mention the fact P/C weren't perfect. So they deserved to win.

Congrats to them and hopefully they charge into worlds with a new confidence in themselves. It won't be easy but this was a fantastic boost for them

I just woke up and saw the results! I can't believe it. I don't know who's happier - them or me!

CONGRATULATIONS TO BOTH OF YOU!!!

Im sure all that hard work paid off. I wish I was there in the arena to see it.

Judy Blumberg has the reputation of being a very strict judge - no fudging with her. So Im sure those levels were well deserved.

And congratulations especially to Viki - who has raised her skating so much since she started skating with Niki.

Relax, enjoy your win, and then get back to practicing even harder.

I was suprised to see them like this!! It's very different from their usual style and I would like to see programs in this direction in competition from them too.

I am starting to see how warhorses develop, I have been very into Spiegel im Spiegel since watching Valieva's program at Russian Junior Nationals, and today I was listening to it again and found myself thinking "I wonder what Victoria and Nikita would do with this?" I think it would suit them, although I suppose people might complain it is along the lines of their last two programs. Perhaps one day a bit in the future then.

People may compare it to the Shibs’ 2016-17 FD, but I wouldn’t mind seeing another team interpret that music.

My hope is they pick right back up where they left off with their winning ways. If that happens, I am over the moon! 🙂

Zhulin: “Katsalapov has such an acute back pain that he had to miss a week”

“Sinitsina and Katsalapov will miss the test runs? Yes, he had acute lower back pain. So sharp that he had to miss a week. If we talk about the stages, then we will see how he will come out of the injury. I don't know what exactly he has, but he has a very strong muscle spasm,” Zhulin said.

Skaters Sinitsina and Katsalapov are preparing for the Russian Cup, despite the partner's injury
Earlier, athletes withdrew from the test skates of the Russian national team

European champions in ice dancing Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katsalapov are preparing to perform at the stages of the Russian Figure Skating Cup, despite their partner's health problems. This was reported to TASS by the coach of the duet, Alexander Zhulin.

The skaters withdrew from the test skates of the Russian national team, which took place on September 12-13, for medical reasons. It was noted that Katsalapov is experiencing back pain.

"Health is better, today we have already skated the rhythm dance with support, it is very joyful, because before we could not even think of supports," Zhulin said. "My back still worries, but less. We will prepare as we expected , for two stages of the Cup of Russia - the second and the third, and as soon as it goes, there is no talk of withdrawal yet."

Zhulin hopes that his players will be able to get in shape for the competition. “It's just that a back injury is such a thing that can come out at any second,” he noted. “In principle, the guys were well prepared, Nikita missed about two weeks. We hope we will be able to get some form by the Russian Cup stages.”

The specialist also clarified the nature of Katsalapov's injury. "These are established problems - he has sore ligaments, a hernia, we will fight with this," the agency's interlocutor said.

Victoria has a knee injury (right knee is taped). Just FYI. They may withdraw.

Figure skater Viktoria Sinitsina, performing in a duet with Nikita Katsalapov, may refuse to perform the free dance at the Russian Cup in Moscow. This was reported to TASS by the figure skating coach Alexander Zhulin.

"Viktoria Sinitsina skated in a rhythm dance with severe knee pain," Zhulin said.

If the guys were so injured, why drag them here? What is he talking about Sochi? Perhaps health is more important than cup events 🤦‍♀️

Figure skater Sinitsina, performing in tandem with Nikita Katsalapov , could not continue the rental of an arbitrary dance at the stage of the Russian Cup in Moscow due to pain shock, the pair's coach Alexander Zhulin told RIA Novosti .
Sinitsina and Katsalapov on Sunday withdrew from the Russian Cup stage right during the skating of a free dance. On Saturday, the couple became the best in rhythm dance.

"Of course, we will try to perform. We are not going to miss anything, if we can recover in a week, we will go to Sochi. Vika skated on injections, it was just that in the end there was a painful shock, because of this we stopped. The knee failed. Otherwise, we would have finished the program. We drove fine today," Zhulin said over the phone.

Wow, just woke up. That doesn't make sense at all. The Russian Fed should clarify its rules for injured skaters and discourage them from skating when injured.
