Sin/Kats Really Need a Cheer Right Now!

Their programs next season need to be good if they want to maintain momentum and really challenge P&C.

The RD this year was a winner, and I really liked the FD. I think it's much stronger than last year's

I kind of wish they had some outside input on their choreo for FD (like they did for RD)

They had a fantastic season!

It'll be exciting to see what they do next season. I just hope Zhulin doesn't start tinkering and having grand visions that end up being a mess on ice

With B/S he seem to have all these ideas in his head and they ended up never working. I do think S/K are more talented then B/S, and perhaps they could have performed them better, but I would rather they not shoot themselves in the foot with questionable programs when the competition is still so tight. Of course they should continue to grow but just not that way :shuffle:

Yeah, they need to do something interesting in the FD in particular. This year's FD suited them well and they performed it awesomely, but it was rather conservative. They need to present something more challenging if they want to keep their momentum. OTOH, you have Zhulin with his sometimes sketchy "ideas"... But IMO they do need to take a risk if they want to keep on developing. Doing "same old, same old" warhorses won't be tolerated indefinitely by the judges...

I kinda always wanted them to skate to this:

Schubert, "Death and the Maiden"

I love the music and it would appeal to Nikita's sense of drama. :D At this point he also seems controlled enough to perform a theme like that without getting wild and/or chewing up all the scenery... It would also differentiate them from P/C and the general trend towards "soft, flowy" programs. Which needs to happen IMO, they need to carve out an even stronger identity and style for themselves.

ISU spotlight interview

Hoping the ISU continually spotlighting them means they think they can be the ones to challenge P/C.

I really like this music for them and I guess it will suit them perfect!! Can't wait to see their new programs!:cheer2:

RD (in HD)
Brilliant RD!! Can't wait to see this dance in competition!! I hope they will have nice costumes!!

Zhulin said yesterday that Nikita had an injury in the beginning of the off-season, so they started working on new programs only in June. They were afraid of the torn ligaments, but fortunately it was a sprain.

He also said that Singing in the rain is his favorite musical and from the very first minute he knew that Vika/Nikita will skate to it this season.

I've read this yesterday and I'm happy Nikita is ok now!! Singing in the rain is a perfect fit for them. And Vika shines through the whole dance!! Great to see and so much improved in this direction. It's even more impressive when they started late to prepare their programs!
@Ka3sha have a good time today at the test skates! Enjoy!!

Dvorak

Zhulin actually managed to give them two good programs! :D Reading here that they started late with training because of injuries...it's even more impressive how prepared they look.

Both programs are very good and cater to their strengths. Going by first impressions, I'm actually even more impressed by the FD. So far, IMO their FDs were very tied to warhorse music and somewhat stuck in safe-mode. The new one isn't a reinvention of ice dance. ;) But it's difficult music. They perform it well and it seems, for the first time in an FD IMO, to be wholly them. Not them recreating things that have been done by other pairs.

They obviously did the work in the off-season and are super prepared. Now I wish them luck that they can deal with the pressure. Expectations are sky-high...getting to world class is one thing, defending your place up there yet another.
