USFS' new "event management system" replacing Entryeeze.

Or they were thinking "a lot of these adults will bring a spouse, partner, child, friend. We should get some more money out of them, because it's freaking expensive to host this."

Sorry for the thread drift but since we're talking about competition and revenue, I just wanted to point out it's those expensive 20-30 minute practice sessions that help many clubs break even/turn a profit.

That's very true. Spectators at competitions barely make a dent.

But a dent is better than Zero.

Not to mention that the skaters skate all year in lonely cold arenas. Having a few people cheer for them is nice. I bet they appreciate the spectators. Heck I run half marathons and I appreciate the people who stand on the side of the road and cheer for us!

I spoke with Kathy Drevs at USFS re: a suggestion that EMS have 1. a way to access the whole competition schedule and the groups and 2. a way to see one's coach's whole schedule, which would facilitate the purchase of practice ice when the coach does not have a conflict with another skater. I pointed out that Entryeeze allows for this. She said she would talk to the web designers about it. Also, they have to make the site Mac friendlier. Everyone I know who who uses the apple system had issues. I had to do my DD's entries from my husband's computer, as he uses the other operating system. We shall see if anything comes of it...

Fyi. It's not just apple users that had problems.
Even using the windows platform, only certain browsers work.

What I'm mostly seeing in this thread is that someone is pissed because they can't stalk skaters anymore.

I remember when we got wind that Joshua was assisting Damon coaching at a comp. I knew that some info was available so I had a look on the entryeeze site. The amount of information that was easily and readily available to a complete stranger about the detailed movements and schedule of minors was completely frightening. If I was a parent, I'm not sure I'd like so much detail about my child's schedule readily available to anyone and everyone.

And as we know, there are plenty of unhinged skating fans whose motives aren't always pure.

And apparently the “stalkers” include the coaches.

I don’t think most of us are asking for details on individual skaters. Just cleared information on when events are happening. It should not be a state secret that there will be 10 juvenile skaters at 2 pm.

They can’t stalk if the coaches password protect their accounts. Many coaches do. Damon is one who doesn’t.
