Sorry but V/M are the current world champions? But yes they do have 2 worlds and free dance score.

Didier is now trying to cause controversy by complaining about the Cdn judge ... he has nerve. It’s heartening to know though that the French skaters/fans hate him and want to be rid of him too.

The specific Canadian judge should not have been there.

What precision? Tell them to match their extensions and skate as one, then you can talk about precision.
The french have a lovely flow and run of the blade....period.
This is why they are a one program team.
He tends to drag her around and their no touch sequences are weak because you see her deficiencies as compared to him.

I also think they are lovely to watch and have an ethereal movement.

Feel free to disagree.
this article sums it all up in a very good way imo https://bevsmithwrites.wordpress.com/2018/02/20/virtue-and-moir-on-top-of-the-world/

While I agree that the ISU shouldn't allow the president of a federation to judge, the bias french judges have shown towards PC was worse than the bias Caron showed during this season. Also being a president of a federation brings to your judging much more attention...if a canadian judge would have shown the same bias without being SC president nobody would care about it. Also Didier talking about fairplay is hilarious. I read he went out complaying that PC should change their style and open up to world?!really?why wasn't it a problem for him till they were winning? way to support your athletes in a low moment. Sorry about the rant but I want this guy as far as possible from the skating world: he's a damage to the the skaters competing against the french ones and the french ones too.

Even now i couldn't believe this happened :) Really! With all this situation going on this season, with PC marks at ECh.
PC lose because of Didier. His tweet about PC will win gold last year, didn't let them skate in TE, where they could check new costumes and try the ice and didn't have mistake in SD in individual event. PC got near perfect score in FD, that's how judges didn't let them win?
TAT said after TS skating, they didn't gave this to the French. Both teams showed masterpice in FD.
And it was great to read from PC, that TS were better, so PC real athlets and good people.

But it sad read in this tread again negativity about VM, when they become best ever in ice dance history. Gold-Silver-Gold, KP had bronze-silver-gold, GP two golds. VM also have two medals from Team Event. So i just want to celebrate this amazing moment with people, who realy support VM since they were junior skaters. Our kids become greatest ever, like on BBC said - this was the greatest story of love in ice dance history. What a honour!
And audience reaction after VM FD said more, then anything. Just not everyone could lose with grace. PC did this, but Didier, there fans and French press didn't.
Now this will be another life, another times. For me it'a very intersting to know, who will challenge PC before next OG.
As for VM - this how the last comperition of this amazing team must look like, they deserve every minute of this! Colour of medal no matter, but the feeling, audience reaction, all this hype in social media matter a lot!
OK, i am done. Thanks for all haters who helped VM to made this.

I wanted to hug Gabby after every phase of the competition. Their reaction on the ice after their free skate was so emotional. It was pure emotion that’s the only way I can think of saying it. I remember seeing a shot of them and The Shibsibs on NBC just after V/M finished skating. No emotion, looking a little deflated, it’s like they already knew before the marks came. That broke my heart because both teams had amazing skates and I think in some ways Gabby blame her self. I realize that this is competition and this is TV but their reaction shot just seemed a little unfair

I'd like to call some attention to MFD and Patch, and their magnificent coaching, particularly as it appeared between the TE and IE. Watching Patch videotape every edge so that they could make sure no levels would be missed, spraying that mist on them before they went out...when I compared that to how VM were left alone in Sochi, it really brings tears to my eyes.

I noticed when V/M won that Patrice was trying so hard not to cry with happiness. :wuzrobbed:respec:

I wonder if V/M will write a book - I’d love to hear more from them about 2013-2014 and Zoueva in particular.

I suppose it depends on if they have a sort of disclosure agreement or not. Personally I don’t anticipate them ever doing that.

Yes to all of this. Their coaching staff this time around has been excellent and I knew this going in because I remembered a interview from Scott not too long ago saying that he doesn’t get caught up in dissecting vids/scores these days and let’s their coaches handle that. Seeing how these two are uber A type people, I highly doubt they would do that unless their had absolute trust with their coaching staff. And I can see why...they really came through for them between the TE and the IE. Patch even sprayed his holy water on them LOL

After reading article, it still troubles me that there's such a disparity of how different judges' marks translate into different ranking of skaters in just one competition, even with the current judging system. Truth is still much too hard to be objective when figure skating (and the system) uses/relies on human subjectivity.

There's something to be said about the idea of one section where starting to grade difficulty of lifts or moves should be considered. But that will mean acquiring a set of actual skating specialists to decide which kinds of lifts or moves are considered more difficult than others. Hereby, all skaters perform a choice from the set of prescribed lifts/movements (with marks difficulty associated with each) and expected to perform in the best possible manner and only then, be awarded according to how it's executed. Similar to how they've come up with pattern dance. But then again, this idea will be countered as stifling creativity of movements due to how a program is choreographed. So, back to square one.

Again, how else can it be objective? It really does boil down to total trust that judges will be absolutely impartial and judging what's happening at that moment without prejudice. Is it even possible really?

Ok, there is so much content I really can’t keep up trying to post as much as I can. Thanks to iceprincess for doing compilation of the videos here are some

http://cuteiceprincesslove.tumblr.com/post/171125905016/og-2018-tessa-and-scott-tsn-videos

Scott got pissed at the press conference when asked about their relationship and said the status of their relationship is no one’s business. All the attention must be driving them insane.
Did you listen to what he said???????????????????????? Ummmmm, lol.

"...and part of the reason why we wouldn't continue skating, is to open up that side of our life, maybe, and see where that goes, and um, that's pretty personal, as personal as I'll get. Let's see what happens, yeah?"

Just something i noticed:
When tessa and scott feel they have been let down by their coaches and felt robbed stating this in a respectful manner with no rude tone or expressions
Skating fans: OMG HOW RUDE! SUCH UNGRATEFUL OBNOXIOUS RUDE EVIL PUPPY KILLER PEOPLE!
when gabi gave the stank face at nhk trophy 2016 on the podium, when P/C didn't clap for the shibs when they were announced at the medal ceremony a few days ago
skating fans :ITS JUST THEIR CULTURE PEOPLE!

The "culture" copout is such a silly excuse. Acting rude and being sour over not winning is not a culture. Its like people expect V/M to be walking talking flawless robots with no emotions or opinions on anything but any other team can be as sassy, ungreatful, contreversial and rude as much as they want too. BS. Tired of this narrative of anything says goes and will be defended except when V/M say it.Glad V/M are retiring with all the glory and success they won't have to put up with all the crap they get from certain ubers of other teams.

- Guys, remember how they had not infrequent twizzle issues last quad? And then Scott had his share of shaky twizzles last year? So, what did they do - they centered their whole freaking program on their twizzles being perfectly executed and timed to the music so much that if they messed it up, the feel of their program would be totally off. And then they nailed it every time. Baller!
Honestly, I’m not sure that it wasn’t a fitness issue. The difficult entry last year + Scott being in better shape this year. Scott's twizzle issues last year always seemed like a physical issue in comparison to Tessa’s twizzles issue which have seemed like a mental issue.

I got the sense that Scott gained weight last year in order to fix some physical issues he was having, and that threw off his twizzles. This year he got back to the weight he's used to being, so the twizzle problem went away.

I think what's truly :kickass: is that VM were clearly using last year as a set-up for this year (fixing health issues, changing skating technique, mental approach, etc.), yet that was the year they went undefeated. No wonder they kept saying they weren't expecting that.

Guys, I still can't believe it! They did it. They really did it. I'm still on such a high. After spending the whole day at work, I just watched all the new videos for about three hours. I might have a problem. After the Olympics I will probably go into a Tessa and Scott withdrawal . No, seriously, you Canadian and Japanese fans have to take a lot of pictures and videos of their tours for us poor European fans. (pretty please!!!)

Ok, back to the video: What I really liked when watching all of them is how Scott is more openly emotional than Tessa. So many people call him a "douche" or whatever when he is such a sensitive guy who always speaks so highly of their team, their families, the other skaters and especially Tessa. I mean I don't even know how Tessa does it. I get emotional when I hear him speak about her (that press conference!:wuzrobbed). I'm such a proud fan. And not only because of their skates and the gold medal but also because of how they dealt with their success and especially the media. I couldn't answer all of these questions in such a nice way. It's funny, I thought back to this one interview when Scott said he liked answering children's questions because their questions are always so interesting and that they never ask if they are dating. Well, you are not talking to kids right now . Anyway, they are doing an amazing job right now and represent Canada very well.

I haven’t had time to actually watch the videos but some one told me the gist ;)
Just found this on tumblr...how cool is it that they are the most watched moment of the games so far? ID has come far!

That’s right! Get it Tessa and Scott! Can you guys believe it though? I never thought they would come back after Sochi. And to do so 2 years later and win at the Olympic Games is simply amazing.

@Golden1 if you read the PBP thread you would be utterly confused. The hatred Scott garners is quite astounding and a lot of them don’t even have reasons they just hate him. I’ve read posts about how he should be punched in the face and I’m just like WTF lol. Can you imagine if a VM fan said that? And VM fans are the crazy ones? So weird but whatever.

Funny that Didier didn't mention that the French judge gave no 10s to V/M in their world record short dance.

I think people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

The French fans and skaters hate Didier too so keep that in mind.

I first saw VM skate when I tuned in to cheer for Matthews/Zavozin of the US during coverage of the 2005 World Junior Championships. I'm so glad I did because it was VM's OD that year that got me hooked. I couldn't help but marvel at their musicality, flow, carriage and overall star quality.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YvDMZDWEG-0

But it was their first year on the senior circuit when I realized this was the team I've been waiting so long to really cheer for. The combination of their Tango OD and Valse Triste FD convinced me that this team could dance to any program - from soft and lyrical to sharp, crisp, dramatic and fiery programs, all the while maintaining beautiful carriage. It was also clear to me that they felt comfortable dancing a program that draws you in as well as one that reaches out to the audience.

The unveiling of their programs each season was always a highlight for me. Despite my dislike of their music choices for many of their programs (I know, I'm such a bad VM fan), they always reeled me in by the end of the season. It's been a privilege to follow their progression through the years. Even though the music from MR is not my cup of tea (I've not watched the movie and not sure if I ever will), their performance to it will be the most memorable of their programs for me - probably because they were the ones who insisted on it despite resistance from everyone around them, their fearlessness in evolving the program throughout the season, and because it will always bring back that joyous and emotional feeling I got watching them perform it live for the first time at Nationals.

I will miss not seeing any more competitive programs from them. I feel like there are so many more styles they have yet to explore, but keep reminding myself that we are all so lucky that they even came back after Sochi. Looking forward to see what comes next for them and will be cheering them on in their new ventures.
