Sweet Mirai, baby girl you are forever an Olympic medallist!

Many had you in 5th in the Team Ladies FS, but you came in a solid second, with a personal best, and beating out awesome Gabby, and the ethereal Carolina with her mighty PCS scores! And you made Olympic history! You will always be the FIRST American woman to land a triple Axel in Olympic competition! The FIRST female skater to land all 8 triple jumps cleanly in an Olympic FS. Others one day will follow, but you my Warrior Ice Queen will ALWAYS be the first. I could not be prouder than if my own daughter had done it. You're a ROCK STAR!! I've watched that elegant, glorious triple Axel maybe a dozen times already. I am at peace now that you didn't make the Sochi Games, because if you had, I don't think you would have gone so hard for that Axel! And GUUURLLL!! You ROTATED ALL YOUR JUMPS!! Like Adam, I was in tears at the end. Actually, I quite disgraced myself when I saw the tears in beautiful Adam's eyes!

I didn't scream so as not to scare the family but under my breath I said 'YES! YES! YES! And I quietly celebrated your victory! I will remember your Olympic Team FS forever! As well as that of all of Team USA's, including Nathan. He had to go out there first and attempt Quad jumps at a crazy hour he wasn't used to as well as most of the other top men in the SP. He fought through - as you did these past four years! You have both had my heart since you were children so I'm feeling a little bit maternal about this. And about Adam! I was overjoyed that almost ALL of my favorite skaters were on this U.S. squad (alas Jason, but he's got his Olympic medal!). You, Nathan, Maia, Alex, and Alexa and Chris! And Bradie is quickly stealing my heart too! I asked the skate gods to smile down upon all of you! And I think the late great legend himself, one of my skate heroes, Axel Paulsen would have been pleased with that sparkling triple Axel of yours! Enjoy the rest of the ride at these Magical Games sweetie! All my babes have a medal so anything else that may come during the Individual Events - like another Olympic medal - will just be chocolate mousse with whipped cream on top!

Love you guys! And special shout out to Team Canada who cheered as much as Team USA when you landed that Axel!! What great sportsmanship!! I'm so happy they got the gold because now Patrick Chan, one of the greats, can retire with his elusive Olympic gold medal. My heart has broken one too many times at seeing the great ones not realize even an Olympic medal of any color, never mind gold! But now my heart is full!!
That is all.
