RPDR - All Stars 3

I am. The best part of the first episode was the commercial with Milk on skates! The second best part was losing Morgan McMichaels quickly. Her humorless schtick just didn't sit well with me.

I did not guess the surprise queen at all. It kinda makes sense but I never thought they'd go that route.

The talent show had a surprisingly high level of acts IMO which shows how far the show has come over the years. But I agreed with the result, as ben's was the most multi layered: fun, upbeat, and funny and Morgan basically auffed herself the minute she said she was going to ax strong competitors given the chance. She's the only queen I know who does bitchy with zero humor.

Ben's act was so funny. Can't say I am disappointed that Morgan went. You just can't be that bitchy and upfront and not expect it to bite you in the ar$e.

After all the coverage they gave Milk I am kind of hoping she won't last either.

I was disappointed with Milk's attitude. I really liked her stuff with Adam, her skating background, and her unique look, but she's coming off as the villain of this season. I don't know if she's getting the villain edit or if she's just like that. Her act was also bad compared to the others - we get it, the fashion industry likes you Milk.

At this point I'm liking Ben de la Creme (other than her flip-flopping on some things) and Shangela. I hated Shangela in seasons 2 and 3, but seeing her on other stuff has endeared me to her. I'm still love-hate about Thorgy, so we'll see how she does this season.

I liked Ben when she was on her first season so really happy to see her back. Her Maggie Smith in the Snatch Game was brilliant.

I am glad Trixie is on as well. I found her weird on her first season and wasn't sure about the make up until she did a makeover on James St James and then I realised how clever her look was. Love her stuff with Katya outside of Drag Race and I thought her song was very sweet in the variety show. Although she is coming across as a bit bitchy too.

Not sure what to make of Aja. So far so good. I think she got a reality check last season so it may have given her a bit more perspective on the whole thing.

I really would have loved to see Kim Chi back. Maybe next time.

Oh and the introduction with Chaz and Alaska and the ode to the Handmaid's Tale. Brilliant.

Morgan's attitude was stinky and I actually wanted Chi Chi to go home. Her routine and outfit were both horrible.

I have seen YT videos of Morgan. She is an excellent performer.
I am loving most of the queens except Kennedy and Chi Chi.
I think the final three will be Trixie, Ben De La, Aja or Shangela. However, Ms Benet is fierce as ever.

I adore Aja because she is so real. I have seen YT videos and she is an excellent performer. I love how Aja “recognized” Valentina’s unprofessionalism and crappy attitude last season.

Aja and Ben De La’s lip sync was life. They both brought it. Aja is a good lip sync artist.

I agree that chi chi was worse, but I would have done the same as Ben. Chi chi is probably only going to end up in the bottom 2 soon again anyway, but Morgan had already announced that she was coming for all of them and playing dirty so...

My drag education is from 1980s pyramid club so I gravitate toward the gender benders and comedy queens. Pageant Girls like Kennedy immediately go into the “I don’t get it” bin for me but in this challenge I thought she did well, her reverse death drop onto the platform was sick.

I didn't understand why everyone was so shocked that Ben eliminated Morgan. Morgan said he was coming for all of the threats. That put Ben directly her line of fire. What choice Ben have?

Morgan had the right idea. She just should have kept it to herself. They all have a strategy. If you came to try to win $100,000 on charm and good looks the thing to do is enter a beauty pageant, not RPDR.

We're getting this on Comedy Central just a couple of days after it airs in the US :cheer2:

I really enjoyed the first episode but did scratch my head at some of the returning queens - Thorgy Thor :wall: I thought she was kind of shit in her season so to bring her back for all stars?

Gutted that they didn't bring back Valentina and Kim Chi for this all stars.

Other than the surprise 10th queen, season 3 is unusual in that none of the 9 made top 3 in their season. All stars 1 and 2 had several strong 2nd and 3rd place finishers.

I've been noncommittally watching Drag Race on an episode by episode basis for a long time, but I thought the premiere was enjoyable.

Agree with all positive comments above about Bendela. She's smart and funny and--even though her drag isn't as out there as I prefer--I like her a lot in the context of this show.

(For a reference point on the drag I prefer, my favorite queen of all time is DeAundra Peek.)

I understand that Trixie is possibly the most popular queen of this group, but the appeal is completely lost on me. Her look doesn't interest me, I don't think she's funny or clever, and I am still somewhat horrified that she was going to be Anne Frank on Snatch Game.

Aja is very Paris Is Burning and as a former Brooklynite I enjoy her, but when it comes to live drag I'll pay to see Coco Peru and that's about it.

i like Trixi. It will be interesting to see how her "popularity" holds up sans Katya sidekick.

She is the absolute queen of the quick one liner comeback. Sometimes she just fires them off like a machine gun. I find that funny and admirable. Several of the queens have that crickets and then a 2 day delay and lame comeback response to them which always makes me sad.

Funny that someone who self professes to like "out there" drag is horrified by Anne Frank on snatch. To me that's just the straight up shock value that drag covets. I suppose the proof of the pudding is in the tasting, as several ggod ideas have turned out lame on snatch while other potentially dull ideas like ben's maggie smith turned out brilliantly.

Maybe I'm too PC, but I don't think the Holocaust belongs in drag just like I don't like it in figure skating. And--maybe this is what's really driving my opinion--I think someone would have to be extremely smart and funny to pull it off if it could be pulled off. Trixie is facile with her comebacks, but I just personally don't them funny. Shock value is something I generally like, but I don't think it's automatically a good thing. (Again, I could make a reference to figure skating and say that about conceptual ice dance programs.)

Or maybe I'm just biased against Trixie because of the old Minnesota/Wisconsin rivalry! Anyway, I appreciate hearing contrasting opinions about the show and I'm looking forward to tonight's episode.

Okay do not watch if you are offended by this sort of thing - I found Trixie's Anne Frank audition video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtWJsLXvjKg
Thanks for posting this. I really shouldn't have used the term "somewhat horrified" up-thread, because that's an overstatement and the audition video is certainly not horrifying to me. I don't think it's funny in the least, but clearly a lot of people do. Also, the online fandoms associated with the show (which someone could and likely has written a dissertation on) indicate how much queer youth culture has changed since when I felt like I understood it practically centuries ago.

To me, the funniest queens on the show (off the show is sometimes another story) have been Bianca, Bob, Willam, and BenDeLaCreme followed after a gap by Katya. I love the concept of Katya's drag much more than the execution.

I'm on team Bianca, Bob, Ben, Katya and I'd throw Ginger Minj in the mix. I like my queens smart and quick. There are some great drag performers out there, but their inability to ad lib within a set puts them firmly in the "that was nice, what else can you do" territory for me.

I never really got Bob but my favourites have been Katya, Ginger Minj, Bendela, Jinx Monsoon, Jujubee and Kim Chi.

We get the Trixie and Katya show here in Australia on SBS. I really enjoy it. And thankfully one of the pay streaming services Stan shows RPDR on the same day as the US. Plus I really like Fashion Photo Ruview.

Queen sent home tonight, disappointed that the queen could not get out of her head. She's such a creative queen.

These are all my favs too. I really liked bob the first half of his season and then it got very "that was nice, what else can you do" in its own way. I "wuz robbed" for kim chi hard after that.

While I'm sure it was annoying on set, Shangela's Mariah Carey "method acting" was hilarious.

Milk's wayyyy to obsessed with her fashion industry connections. Girl needs to get over it and try to play up other strengths.

My, my, my... Shangela’s really got her act together. She’s going to be hard to beat.

Shangela did a great job. Her Mariah Carey was really funny and her runway was fierce. And her lipsynch was just right.

Bendela is really strong too.

I get annoyed at the Queens who think they are better than what they are. Of course you need a certain amount of ego to be a drag queen. But to complain that you are not being acknowledged is just petty behaviour. I have no problem with Thorgy being sent home and with the way Milk is behaving I hope they get knocked out sooner than later.

Wow two strong days for Ben and shangela was at her best.

It’s funny because shangela, Trixi and milk all had break out popularity after rather so-so results on their seasons, but only milk seems to have let it go to her head. It’s like willim’s cockiness with out any of the humor. Everything she did this week had “safe” written all over it.

And thorgy was exactly as she was in her season: too inside her own head, too high a opinion of herself, and borderline paranoid

And can we talk: a diva-impersonator filled medley of covers of ru songs! The man is a self-promotion genius

TBH I think Thorgy is a great Queen when she's not trying to win anything or being isolated into reality show conditions. She's creative and talented.

I just find it funny that Milk is the one to let it get to her head. He was in one Marc Jacobs campaign - after working for the brand for 7 years! He's been in a couple of other ads as well, but nothing too mainstream. Really if anyone should let it go to their heads it would be Trixie and Shangela. Trixie's one of the most popular alum by far (more popular than Milk for sure), had (has?) a popular podcast, and now has her own TV show. Shangela has had many small roles on network dramas, appeared as herself on Toddlers and Tiaras and Dance Moms during their heydays, and had a run in Vegas. Milk can't stack up to either of them in that way.
