Ashely Wagner will be in South Korea for the Olympics

There was also a little article in the NYT in the '80'' or early '90's about what ballerinas eat. Two were featured. The first (IIRC) had to be very careful, and the other could eat what she wanted. The photo showed the latter about to bite into an oversized cookie. (It may have been Heather Watts.)

It depends on how much they want to eat. A lot of Europeans say they eat what they want and they do but they seem to want to eat a lot less than Americans.

This. I thought I was the kind of person who does not matter how much I eat, I do not get fat, and also the kind of person that no matter how much I stop eating I do not lose weight. When I finally started counting the calories I realized that I have a very constant range of calories that I do not surpass no matter how hard I try. But is easier notice it counting weekly than daily.

I have friends who are fitness professionals and it is really popular to take photographs of really fit people biting into a huge dessert as a means of marketing fitness as a way to eat whatever you want. They usually spit the bite out after the photo op. All this does is perpetuate disordered eating and ideals about diet. People wish they can eat whatever they want but that really isn't the case. Even for athletes, maybe their metabolism is higher but eating a lot of junk adversely affects performance. Even very gifted athletes in high energy sports benefit from great nutrition.

I just came across this Icebreaker interview with Ashley Wagner. I don't know if it has been linked on FSU previously. Scroll down to see the Icebreaker video with Ashley. The article itself is about Sentaler coats (Toronto manufacter expanding their brand -- direct result of Meghan Markle wearing them, despite Kate being mentioned more prominently):

Ashley: "I'm such a show pony. I love it. I poured my heart and soul into this sport for the past 22 years. Skating is home for me... My life has been 22 years of regimen. After awhile, I'm like 'What do real people do?' ... The unknown is what's scary. In this moment, when my Olympic dream has been cut, there's no one else to pick up the pieces other than me. I have to be okay because that's my only option... Be fierce. Do your job."
