Increasingly likely “Russia” will be banned from Pyeongchang

And if there is a ban to the whole team, the whole Russia will feel victimized and there'll be much more resentment and less willingness to cooperate in the long run.
It’s the only thing left. Banning track and field- didn’t work. Banning all Paralympians? Didn’t work. There is already a feeling of victimization. Something must be tried to fix all the problems. They’ve tried nice so it’s time for nuclear!

I hope somebody considers the fact having Russian athletes present might be a deterrent to North Korea

That’s interesting. I bet they feel China is a deterrent

And if the chinese decide not to go?

The Chinese are hosting the next Olympics, but if something happens during the competition period of this Olympics, and the Chinese new about it and didn't say anything, that would be the end of the Olympics.

As pointed out, China is hosting the next Winter Olympics. They aren't going to skip 2018, and certainly not to stand in solidarity with Russia being banned due to state-sponsored doping and urine sample tampering.
The speculation of China skipping the games is not about solidarity with Russia, it's about North Korea deciding to nuke the games and the Chinese knowing about it ahead of time and skipping the games to avoid having all their athletes killed. It's pure wild speculation at this time, but we're living in Trump World and anything is possible.

There is NONE now...How can that be worsened? It can only go up.

Is Bobrova considered one of the "cleared" ones, or was that mess different all together?

Bobrova according to the law was not guilty. She stopped taking the "now" banned substance before deadline date. However when you look at the "spirit of cheating" she took the substance at all to give her an unfair advantage against her competitors. Legally she is free and clear but I wonder how her competitors feel about her as a person...even those on her own team who never touched the substance.

It is more likely the US will attack North Korea but they won’t do it while the games are on.

I think his security council is mostly babysitters and handlers. One most be on duty at all times..Maybe they have subbed it with duds

Considering that it wasn’t proven that meldonium enhances performance, I am not sure why the competitors should feel any different about her. Would anyone who takes vitamins be considered cheating? Or anyone who takes any other allowed medicine? If I was an athlete, I would feel more resentful towards those who have medical exceptions because the potential for cheating there is huge.

And if China did decide to skip the Winter Olympics because they knew that NoKo was planning something, wouldn't that be a pretty obvious tip-off to the rest of the world to skip Pyeongchang? Sorry, but again, China isn't going to skip the Winter Olympics because of some North Korean threat. They'll keep KJE in line through March and the conclusion of the Paralympics. After that? Well, all bets are off.

Apparently there's a chance that Evgenia Medvedeva will speak at the Dec. 5th IOC meeting before the decision is announced: https://rsport.ria.ru/figure_skating/20171203/1129542890.html
Google translated excerpt:
A source close to the sportswoman told R-Sport that the figure skater would make a speech at the meeting.
"I do not rule out such an opportunity," Kogan answered by phone on the question whether Medvedeva will speak at the meeting of the IOC executive committee.
The president of the Russian Olympic Committee, Alexander Zhukov, in a conversation with the correspondent of "R-Sport" noted that specific information on speakers at the executive committee will be announced on Monday.

Or perhaps Putin himself can grant her a special audience if Russian athletes are allowed by the IOC to participate as unaffiliated athletes, but he makes the ruling that he will not allow them to participate under those circumstances.
When Russia agreed to neutrality at the 2017 iaaf championships I don’t think all the ramifications of that were clear. Total gag order on every athlete! Strict control of all behavior and no one could ever say anything about where they were from! Can’t wear blue white or red. Can’t touch a Russian flag, can’t say Russia. All Russia flags banned from stadiums.

Tarasova: Let the IOC members tell Medvedeva in the face that they will not let her into the OIympics

I'm with Tarasova on this one. Put Evgenia before the IOC and force them to see the consequences of their actions. Force them to look at her and realise what they would be doing to hundreds of clean, innocent athletes just like her. Force them to look her in the eye and tell her the she, the best female skater in the world, is banned from the Olympics just because she's Russian. Hopefully that will make them stop and think.

Maybe then they can have one of the clean athletes that didn't get their podium moment in Sochi because of a Russian on drugs backed up by a country that ran a dopping system. Hopefully, then they will make the right decision and ban Russa from future Olympic. That ban should stay in place until Russia has proven they no longer trying to circumvent anti-doping regulations.

Sure, then maybe grab one of the sprinters who had to run against Gatlin in Rio and have him talk about how it feels not to get his podium moment because a man who has twice been convicted of doping and never showed remorse or regret or even acknowledgement of wrongdoing was allowed to run and WADA were perfectly fine with it.

Are you going to keep beating this horse, it's already dead.

Russia had 232 athletes competed in Sochi. So more like 10s of clean, innocent athletes, if that.

I believe that either the IOC Bans Russia from the 2018 Winter Games or votes to allow all Russian Athletes to compete under the IOC Flag and Anthem. Either way, Russia will not attend the games. President Putin will not accept any restrictions on his athletes; certainly not to have Russian prospective medalists on podiums hearing the Olympic Anthem and flyiing the Olympic Flag. Life is not fair... never has been... never will be... so fairness is out of the equation. The decision I believe will be to allow Russian Athletes to attend the games as neutrals, nothing more or less. That won't be allowed by Putin. Russia will boycott, and that decision will be on his government.

I don't think you can compare taking vitamins to taking meldonium. Meldonium was not intended to be taken to enhance a performance/stamina.
Vitamins, on the other hand, were developed to boost all kinds of things in the body. Whether or not man-made vitamins are healthy is another matter.

Or anyone who takes any other allowed medicine?

Certain medicines are allowed because scientists say that no athlete is gaining an advantage from taking them.
