From Russia with love [#28]: Autumn to Winter 2017

I specifically hope that his first success comes with her.
That's what happens when I break my vow to uber a junior.
Hopefully Plushenko can also address an issue with Sakhanovich, which was raised by her 2 previous coaches: Sima is a very hard worker, can practice for hours and hours at the time, never gives up, being tired and falls don't deter her.... but she does not like to concentrate on and repeat a specific issue/problem, and to work it out to the end; she instead likes variety in her practices, not precision.

- Russian skaters should stop CROSSING THEMSELVES before skating to Hava Nagila and other Jewish melodies or themes... :D... this is not the first time... it looks awful and awfully stupid...

:D.... ah, darn!... that's "edea" boots.... I was hopping they are now wealthy enough to enjoy buying junk and go slumming.
Sasha started the skating with hockey skates https://www.instagram.com/p/BOjgpnhDdtU/?taken-by=plushenkoofficial Plushy wanted Sasha to be a hockey player. https://www.instagram.com/p/BK7ngWVjjCs/?taken-by=gnomgnomych
But Sasha chose the figure skating. He wants to do as his father
he received the whites https://www.instagram.com/p/BP2Bta9hMEd/?taken-by=gnomgnomych

That little guy is a showman in the making. That was good fun.

Sima also gave a performance of her FS to Aranjuez as well. Considering she hasn't been training a lot lately she done very well. She really slows down before the 2A. I really would like to see her comeback succeed.

Sima seems to think through every jump and actually throuout the program. It is ok at this stage. By next season she should be much more comfortable.

In a Q&A last night after a performance of "Jewels," the guest was Sarah Orza, who debuted in the ballerina role in "Diamonds." She and her husband, Seth Orza, also a dancer in the company, have a four-year-old daughter, and when asked about her, Orza said she told her daughter, "You can go to college," and her daughter said, "I want to be a ballerina!" So now she's in Creative Movement and is the first to volunteer to do whatever the teacher has asked the class

When they want to be like their parents, it's really hard to stop them, especially when they come from the right gene pool :)

But the actual quotes in the article say the opposite of the headline
.......

The trainer of Sofia Samodurova, Alexey Mishin, commented on the athlete’s win at the Junior Grand Prix event in Zagreb:
“This victory should not be viewed as circumstantial. She earned her exact/proper placement because of her jumping technique, her balance, movements and form, her choreography in the programme, which (by logic) should place her at the top.

In her short programme as well, all was in place (technical and artistic). (She created) an image of a young Jewess, in its best form/ethnic traditions. She did not just skate with waiving arms and running on the ice. Now we will wait for her next performance in Italy at the last JGP event” said Mishin.

why awfully stupid?

why awfully stupid?
... well, here is a girl portraying an ethnic Jew in a costume, and she crosses her self? then 2 skaters, SL, in a concentration camp, also cross themselves..... :D.. I don't know how to explain why it is weird when people when portraying Jews CROSS THEMSELVES....
Thanks! i remember those. At some point Mishin said that "jewish music" has special place in his career, it helped him and Tamara wind Silver @ 1968/69 Worlds. Some while back there was also an interview about Moskvins and Mishin, and how they were working on the 2 programmes. They were in a restaurant in Ukraine, and 3 Jewish fiddlers came in to play. The Moskvins/Mishin team thought it is perfect, asked the Jews to play more tunes, and tape recorded it right there and then for their SP. That year they won Russian Nationals and Silver @ Worlds.

Oh, I understand.. :)

Well, yould you suggest the skaters change their beliefs and become Jewish only because they chose Jewish music to skate to? Where is it going to end? Should Ashley become a prostitute because she decided to skate to Moulin Rouge? Should everyone skate to the music from their own country so that they don’t offend anyone?

Tell me, are you working on a PhD research "how people respond to illogical statements"?

Yulia Lipnitskaya does not wish to return to figure skating and is preparing to go to university

Yulia has remained silent since she gave her only interview since her retirement announcement to the official website of the Russian Federation of figure skating (FFKKR) in which she talked about the anorexia that has been tormenting her in recent years, a prolonged depression, the loss of meaning in her life, and, eventually, a measured decision to leave the sport.....She....is going to enter university to study sports management....without....excessive publicity, which she never liked....[Lipnitskaya said] "it was really hard for me. I'm not a public person, it's always been like this. Since childhood, I was a very strong introvert."
