Project Runway 2017

Amy, Samantha, and especially Kenya are putting out looks each week that I really like. The rest are all basically clumped together so far for me, with Aaron probably being the one that I least likely understand. I like Kentaro and Margarita as far as their personalities go.

Shawn and Claire are too much and Lifetime is sure shoving them down our throats. There was a preview clip in the opening episode where Michael was throwing a tantrum on the stage (and going backstage during the middle of critiques) about how there was cheating. The :angryfire in me hopes this has something to do with the twins and that it has a serious consequence on at least one of them.

And yes- as far as week 3, I thought it was going to be between Kenya and Batani. Brandon showed an interesting shape/concept I guess, but the color was blah.

I thought Claire should have been in the bottom this week, but it was also nice not to have to deal with twin angst this week.

I hope the Bunin-Murray editors are sick of them and most of their footage will just get "lost" on the server.

Watched this week's episode earlier. Bottom 2 were definitely the weakest links in the last few weeks, and I'm glad Kenya was spared because that really was a disaster.

Anyways, the producers are clearly building up the blow-up about Claire and Shawn working together on most of their outfits. It has to be coming soon.

The whole sleepover on top of the Empire State building was dumb and I wanted to smack the twins.

Kentaro and Michael deserved top two, I loved both designs. Aaron should have gone home just for wearing those hideous shorts. (thank you Zac for calling him out). I was very worried Kenya would go,I'm loving her designs so far. Deyonte' deserved the auf, he could have been safe if he had lowered the neckline and narrowed the shoulder straps and instead of the skirt a cute pair of short sleep shorts might have saved him.

For those of you not in the US who want to watch, dailymotion has better videos than youtube. I loved both Kentaro and Michael's designs this week.

I wish the Empire State one had some weather. Rain...crazy wind. Anything to make it more interesting. And breakfast sandwiches brought in by Tim with no logo on the bag? LOL, no sponsor? :D

I thought the idea was to make fashion forward pajamas (rolling my eyes).

Aaron - this would look terrible on any size person.
Amy - Snuggi in a new fabric?
Ayana - this color palette is bizarre. Safari meets Barbie. it also reminded me of a previous challenge by a different designer this season.
Batani - while not made well, it is very pretty.
Brandon - I would also wear this. it's cute, fun and flattering.
Claire - My daughter had this fashion toy. It came with scraps of fabric and the figure had slits in the back. You drape and use a tool to push the fabric in. Look you made a dress! Look it's a top! Claire's hot pink mess reminded me of this toy. I bet she sneaked and used rubber bands and a stapler too.
Deyonte -NOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! This is just bad. bad. bad.
kenya - I liked this for all it's fit flaws. I think almost anyone can wear those colors, the shorts aren't up your butt and the top needs work, but IT is interesting!
Kentaro - I really wish he had won this challenge. I like the little details on the top, it moved well and the model really seemed happy in it.
Margarita - pretty color but like anything you can get at Macy's.
Michael - Blah. It's so passive. And the straps, really, this is going to be slept in? I have this tank top attached to a sports bra. My husband asked me to donate it because he does the laundry and it takes him forever to get all the straps right.
Samantha - I would feel badass in this. It's awesome. I love the robe.
Shawn the Yawn. Bring on more boring please! not.

Samantha wuzrobbed. That's the one set I would buy and wear.

I actually found Michael's online and it's beautiful but I would never spend $200 for a nightgown. Also I'm such a clutz I would never figure out the straps.

  • Kenya wuzrobbed. That design and her impeccable tailoring was incredible. That is not easy fabric to work with and she freaking pieced it together with barely enough yardage. Genius.
  • I loved how both Margarita and Michael made their curvy models look sexy and badass.
  • Twins continue to annoy and send crap down the runway, I guess that means the producers are going to keep them around for the drama as long as possible.
  • Brandon's look was cute but I think a little too gimmicky, although I loved the fabric he used.
  • Bye Aaron- the obvious auf from the moment we first saw his poor model.

Agree on Kenya. That was a fierce, as Christian would say. Aaron, honey, start by dressing yourself better. I have no problems with a genderless look, but at least do it with style. “Shaire” has got to go.

At first I thought Brandon's was in the bottom. :shuffle: I think he's really going to have to bomb not to win this season. He's clearly the judges' favorite.

After all the raving over Kenya's and Michael's looks with only normal praise for Brandon's, I was totally shocked when he won. I didn't even have him top 3 as I thought Margarita's look was much better.

Aaron's has to be one of the worst look ever sent down the runway. I think the judges really wanted a double elimination, but the producers stopped them. The shorts under the disney skirt were completely unflattering and I'm not sure why they didn't garner more criticism.

I actually wasn't a big fan of Kenya's look. The peplum trouser suit is not an original idea and it feels very 80s to me, I didn't like the ruffles. Or even the colour :shuffle: although it was clearly very well made.

I was shocked Brandon won. I also thought it looked like a straight-jacket, and not in a good way. I strongly disliked his fabric choice too...

I thought Margarita would be in the top along with Michael, and nobody else since the challenge as a whole was really disappointing. It has become clear that one of the twins can kind of design and the other not.

And Baheni's or however her name is spelled!

I like Brandon in general but this lok just confused me. I know they don't like doing back to back wins but Liris looked incredible.

But if they don't auf a twin next week it's going to be all girls plus Michael and Brandon, right?

Kentaro is still there too.

I found it interesting the way having a 2 day challenge, without curveball, actually decreased the quality of the output...

Overthinking! The best stuff from the two days typically comes from a fully committed, yet incredibly complex design like the Christian/Chris avant-garde look. They stayed exactly to the sketch, but spent the time on quality of finish.

I thought Kenya's outfit looked beautiful on the model, but peplum works well only on tall and lanky and I agree, it was quite 80s. But the side peek a boob look would not work well on large portions of the population either.

Did no one watch that footage at any point and realize that the twins would grate on all of America rather than be entertaining?

And it is totally okay in the rules for someone else to make (and basically design) half of a designer's look? Seriously? Or was this a rule change for the sake of twin drama?

Designers who have finished early have always gone to help other designers throughout the seasons, sometimes completing a LARGE portion of the finished product. I don't think there's anything in the rules against it, but I don't get why Claire has yet to realize that she just needs to focus on herself. She's helping her sister get rave reviews while she's narrowly escaping elimination. I know they showed her getting irritated but in the end she still helped.

I liked Samantha, but she crashed and burned the last two episodes.

Still anxiously awaiting the Michael meltdown on the runway that we got a glimpse of in the first episode. Surprised they decided to preview something that is happening this far into the season.

Edit: Forgot to add the Margarita tidbit. She seems like she has an amazing personality, but I also was surprised with her somewhat throwing her model under the bus after they both were so excited by the concept.

I get the feeling that the Michael thing happens when they choose the designers for Fashion Week. Given that Heidi didn't call ShAire back for a little talk this episode, my gut says Claire made the look that puts her sis in the final.

Ugh I hope not. I re-watched the clip and the only person that is for sure there is Kentaro. The others might have been edited strategically but I'm pretty sure Margarita is also there (they show Kenya briefly too), and they are leading us to believe that Claire says 'I have no idea' when asked what happened, but that could be from any given week.

I only caught the very end last night to see who won and who was aufed, and then a new show started so they didn't replay the episode at 10 like they normally do. :drama: It sounds like Claire should have gone home instead of Samantha. At least Samantha's clothes have a point of view and Claire is just boring. I'm hoping for a double elimination next week since it's a partner challenge, but if so, I'm sure it will be the wrong team and Shaire should have been aufed instead.

Can't believe that sweatshirt & shorts didn't get her auffed. The twins are really producers' manipulation. I didn't much like Samantha's look (and Michael's dress for Liris was downright hooker) but Claire should have gone home for that mess, a Target version of which I own.

The twins are selling that "Millennial AF" sweatshirt one of them was wearing a few weeks ago on their website for over $200. Because screen printing some block letters on a plain gray sweatshirt is a great achievement of design that is worth that kind of cash, apparently.

I'm really not understanding what the reason for putting them on PR at all was.

Stunt casting . Annoying AF would be more appropriate for that sweatshirt

So, I see this thread has died due to interesting skating being on TV this week
Just caught up with the episode. The right garment one, the dress was very sellable and original.

As for the twin drama, it's definitely not worth making us wait another week for it  Bad producing.
