Papadakis CIzeron #4 - Happiness Does Not Wait

I just meant in terms of innovative music choices - i.e., both VM and PC skating to pieces that many would consider warhorses, the Shibs doing another Coldplay program, etc. Not throwing shade at anyone (as I enjoy all three of the current top teams and many teams below them as well) - should've been clearer about what type of creativity I was referring to.
Thanks for clarifying, I was wondering what you were referring to. So this is interesting because on GS I was wondering who else skated on Moonlight apart of course G/G. We came up with an exhibition piece from Uzova/Platov but being an EX I wouldn't really count it. Then there is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUcsqOnXKgE :scream:
So two programs hardly qualify this music as a warhorse in the world of skating, however, it is in the classical music world. In any case, P/C have proven to be dary in the music department up to now. But you're right, they picked something out of the box last year and really struggled to bring their vision so they surely went, as you said, for a more audience friendly music because, seeing no dance teams (except the one above) seemed to have tried this, it might not be as skater-friendly. The first movement is quite monotonous and could potentially get boring. Following the footstep of G/G is not an easy task but I'm sure they'll make it their own.

"Monotonous" isn't a word I'd use to describe the first movement of Moonlight Sonata.
Ok I rephrase because it's absolutely not what I personally thinks ( I like that piece, I even play it on the piano with immense pleasure) I should have said it can be construed as monotonous by some.

By people I don't want to associate with probably, ;)

I have faith that P/C's program will be a lot better than Usova/Platov's which was a big bore.

General comment: No piece of music could be monotonous with their skating and interpretation added to it. I have also decided to ignore all comments about their programs all being the same (not directing this anyone in particular). I have never thought that about them and I have been an ID fan since the 80s and so I have lots to compare. Cannot wait to see their programs but more so their beautiful skating and interpretation :) Also really excited for them to experience the Games as a whole and outside of our sport.

 I have the same problem with people dismissing the Bolero as repetitive

:40beers: Preach. I learn to ignore too, it'll come handy this season :drama:

Maybe there haven't been that many top skaters who've used it, but this season there are a few others using it including:
  • Alexander Samarin SP
  • Andrew Torgashev SP (juniors)
  • Kaori Sakamoto SP
ETA: Not to say it's a bad choice or that they should care about those skaters, just that I'm sure it's been used often enough looking at this season.

Thanks for the info still it doesn't enter yet into the warhorse category. But it might from this season on.

If a skater/dancer has found their style, I really don't see the purpose of experimenting. Music that you feel in your heart, you can interpret and translate into movement best, so why should anyone use a style of music they don't feel as much and put themselves at a disadvantage? I really don't get that sentiment.

They are so building up my expectations over there on GS that I almost fear I'm gonna be disappointed hahahaaaa!!
I'm such a drama queen though, I need to calm myself down a bit... :drama: :p

I found 4 singles skaters who skated to Moonlight Sonata:

Polina Edmunds
Sasha Cohen
Diasuke Takahashi
Evgeni Plushenko

I personally don't care if it is a warhorse or not.

I'm just really excited to see what P/C do with it.

I think it will be gorgeous.

@Isabelle.G @ballettmaus
Thank you both. I went on my computer and it worked! :encore:

So I love Gabriella's dress, and for now I'll reserve my judgement on Guillaume's shirt lol.

But what about that 6th photo? A new lift is it not!! :biggrinbo:biggrinbo Me happy!!

You're welcome, Miloune ;)

When I saw the miniatures, I immediately thought "wow, that's how stylish latin costumes should like.." (I'm not a big fan of this style), then I saw the pictures, the lifts!!! :cheer2:, and realised that these are probably FD costumes... anyway, Gabriella's dress is perfect, so elegant. Guillaume's costume is fine. Besides, there's always chance he might want to change the top part :D

My only "issue" with his top is that it's too open on the front... I mean, Guillaume, we don't need to see your chest hair, especially during the FD! :rollin:. But maybe I'm the only one ^^.

They're saying Dean saved them from their indecisiveness concerning the SD music. He found the music and created the program within 3 days. Interesting, let see. Well I wanted them to skate an Exhibition on a jazzy version of Shape of you by Cullum, so I was not far of. I wonder which version or cover they've used. I have said I'm not sold on non Latin music SDs. Hopefully they'll prove me wrong.
If someone wants more details from this short interview, I can translate but later in the afternoon. Not much new though apart the bit about Dean.

It will be music the general audience knows, they'll stand out, and it's something they sound comfortable with which is a good thing. I'm not sold on the idea of non-Latin SDs either but I'm willing to give this a chance because it is P/C.

ETA: I wonder if when looking for music for P/C, Dean stumbled upon this video of a couple doing a samba dance specifically choreographed to the song:

Personally, I feel there's no such thing as "too open in the front" when we're talking about ANY top Guillaume is wearing at ANY time. :D

Has this link already been posted? Apparently there's going to be a stream on Saturday! http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x62bbnb
